Starlight New Year ____________________________ This owning a nightclub business was a lot easier than Fin had imagined, especially now that he'd had a good year and a half to settle into the role. Granted, he had a lot of hired help to run the place for him, so he only really had to show his face regularly and sign paperwork, occasionally sit in on a few meetings or interview new staff, but mostly he could get lackeys to do all the hard parts for him, which was fantastic. He was an intelligent guy, if he had to, he could pick up some of the workload, but he figured freeing himself up to actually enjoy his life and spend the money that the club brought in was a much smarter choice. Like tonight, all he had had to do to throw a brilliantly fancy New Years Eve party was come up with the idea and tell the relevant people. That was it. His event organisers had set everything up, asked his opinion on a few bits of decor and gotten him to sign papers about the fireworks they'd be setting off on the roof of the club at midnight. He was pretty confident that the club wouldn't end up on fire or blowing up with sparkles, so he'd signed quickly and sent them on their way. Now that he was actually in the club, he was slightly more appreciative of everything they had done to set up for the night. There were sparkling silver streamers everywhere, huge glasses dotted about the edges of the room, enchanted with silver confetti which sprayed out of the top of each one like a shimmering fountain. A huge diamond encrusted (fake diamonds, he wasn't spending that much money on a bloody sign) countdown hung over the bar, the seconds ticking down until midnight, when it would magically change into a Happy New Year sign, also dripping with fake diamonds. The theme seemed to be sparkle, but Fin didn't hate it, and he figured everyone would be dressed up enough to fit in well, the men all in their finest suits or dress clothes, and the women more dazzling than the glittering confetti. Fin was wearing a pale grey suit which made him look suave as hell, and he knew he'd have no shortage of options for someone to kiss at midnight. With ten minutes to go before the bar opened for business, Fin left his office in the back of the building, popping into the private rooms and making sure the tables were arranged perfectly, chair covers straight, glasses clean as a whistle, then moving into the main room, which was large, with a second floor that overlooked the first with an ornate balcony. Seating was upstairs, the dance floor and bar on the ground floor, and he took the winding staircase two steps at a time, long legs carrying him easily to the top, where he wove in and out of the tables, tweaking napkins and decorations, and pausing to stare out over the dance floor, which was lit up with multicoloured lights for the night. The men who worked on the door were waiting for his go-ahead to begin letting people in, and Fin nodded his head at them, satisfied that they were ready for the evening to begin. The front doors opened and the sounds of the queue that was already outside filled the room, the bar staff jumping into position, Fin remaining on the balcony, surveying his kingdom, handsome as hell as people filed in to the room in small glittering groups. The veil of euphoria that was usually at the front door had been lifted for tonight, but the party goers all seemed to be in fine spirits without it. Fin smiled softly to himself, humming along to the music that blared through the building. _______________________ tag: Everyone! notes: For anyone who Fin counts as a friend or family, there is the option of a private party room in the back that he will have gladly set up for you. Everyone else, muck in! Lol <3 outfit: Handsome as Hell template by Izzy [googlefont="Allura"]

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
One blissful weekend each month, Dora was able to pretend that she wasn’t part of the working class; that she didn’t sweat from running back and forth behind a bar all night mixing drinks and ringing up tabs and cleaning up spills with a smile on her face despite wanting to give a good smack to a fair few individuals. Most of the other bartenders at the Starlight didn’t get any weekends off, unless they used their holiday time or were unwell. Dora was special in that her boss was also her best friend and even though the weekends were the busiest time for the pub, for obvious reasons, she managed to get a bit of extra free time to be herself. Rarely did she go to the Starlight for socializing when she wasn’t working. There were plenty of other bars and nightclubs to go to, they were in London for heavens sake, it wasn’t as if they were short on entertainment.
Tonight was different for more than one reason. It was her second weekend off for the month, two weekends in a row! She had been given Christmas and New Year’s Eve off last year, as well, and if her modeling career didn’t pick up in 1979, she suspected she’d have the double weekend again come next December. Of course, having the holiday wasn’t the only thing out of the norm for Dora this evening. She would be breaking one of her unspoken rules and going to the Starlight for a night of socializing, but tonight wasn’t just any night or any party. Fin was throwing the biggest bash of the century, ushering in the final year of the 70’s with a bang. Dora wasn’t about to miss out on that.
Her tiny flat was a mess; she’d gone through her entire wardrobe looking for something appropriate, trying her damnedest to not spend her money as frivolously as she once had. She had plenty of dresses to choose from, it was simply a matter of finding the right one. New Years meant sequins and glitter and really short skirts, but the party was at the speakeasy and the 20’s aesthetic was simply gorgeous, Dora would hate to waste the evening on a modern styled dress. That in and of itself was a problem, as Dora had several flapper dresses she wore while working, and she certainly didn’t want to wear anything of the sort when she was there to have a good time. Tucked away in the back of the wardrobe she found an old dress she had never worn before, she didn’t even know she had it. Dora assumed it was had been her mothers and she’d probably nicked it out of anger when she was packing her things after her mother told her there was no room for her in the new flat she was renting in Winchester. A pale grey dress with black and silver beading and fringe at the hem. It was perfect, and not likely something she’d ever wear for work as there were far too many spilled drinks to bother wearing such a light color behind the bar. Flourishing her wand, Dora banished all her clothes back into the wardrobe which had been enchanted to hold far more than the space would normally permit. She couldn’t leave her flat a mess in case she brought a bloke home for the evening, and while it wasn’t perfectly clean, it was tidy enough to be seen by a one-night stand.
Dora appeared with a gentle pop in the street of Whimsic Alley. She could see a queue forming already outside of the speakeasy and Dora smiled to herself, excited for the evening that laid ahead. She was planning to meet a few friends here and had arranged to find them inside so that they weren’t waiting out in the cold. Passing by the queue, Dora gave a flirty smile to the doorman. “You got the evening off, eh Dora?” the burly man said as he unclipped the red velvet rope to let her pass through amid a complaints from the people still waiting to get inside. “I’ll save a dance for you when you take your break, Cassius.” She gave him a peck on the cheek as she sauntered in through the front door. Pulling off her cloak, Dora headed to the cloak-check window. The scrawny lad behind the desk whistled at her as she passed her things over the counter. “You clean up nice, doll.” Dora raised her eyebrows at him challengingly, knowing she looked damned good every time he saw her, but she quickly laughed – as did he – and smiled. “Where’s my guy, tonight?” she asked, turning her back on the attendant as she spoke and looking out over the dance floor. “Up there,” the man said, pointing to the second floor which overlooked the rest of the club. “Thanks, Karl.”
Leaving her cloak with Karl the cloak-check guy, Dora weaved through the crowd of dancing bodies and headed up the winding stairs. Fin was stood near the balcony, surveying his party like a king would look out over his country. Coming up behind him, Dora reached out and slid her hand up his back to his shoulder. “Hey there, handsome,” she purred, not noticing if she was interrupting anything important.

Starlight New Year The room began to fill, music thrumming nicely from the speakers in the ceiling and walls, people admiring the decor as they filed in and headed like sheep to the bar to stock up on drinks. He'd make a nice sum from the night, and unlike some, who would already have the money spent in their head, Fin planned to save every Knut. He found it disturbing as he got older how like his father he really was. He had the temper, though he would never beat a child of his own, and he had the desire to hold on to money rather than being overly frivolous with it, which was something he'd always ridiculed his father for. The amount of times he'd called his dad a tight arse for not wanting to spend too much, and now Fin was finally starting to understand it. If you wanted to stay rich, you had to not only earn the money, but know how to hold on to it or end up on the streets, a laughing stock. He didn't want to be anything like his father, but the reality was, Fin was too much like him in a lot of ways, something he was slowly learning to live with. Her shimmering dress caught his eye as she crossed the room, and Fin watched Dora make her way to the stairs, looking the picture of perfection in her stunning attire. She'd gone for light grey, the same as him, and he chuckled to himself at how they were so in sync these days that they accidentally matched outfits without even trying. It was impressive and amusing. He liked it. It was something he hoped for from a wife one day in the not too distant future. Dora's hand was soft on his shoulder as she greeted him, and Fin turned his head to look at her. "Evening sweet cheeks," he smiled down at her, reaching one arm back to wrap around her waist, gently guiding her up beside him to look out over the balcony. "Trust you to be the best dressed in the place tonight," he laughed, glancing at the jewels she wore and the pretty little head piece in her raven hair. Blue eyes drifted to her empty hands. "No drink?" he asked, glancing at the table nearest to them and reaching for one of the empty glasses that sat atop it. He drew his wand and pointed it into the flute, watching as it filled up with champagne, then passing it to Dora and filling a glass of his own. He chinked his drink to hers with a grin. "To a fucking fantastic new year."_______________________ tag: Euphadora Rose Parkinson and everyone! notes: The party is on, dudes! She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
The view from the balcony was always entertaining. Bodies below pulsating to the music. You could always spot someone who was trying to hard to be cool and aloof, some girl trying to get away from a handsy bloke, and someone who had a bit too much to drink. It was too early in the evening for the last one, but Dora suspected that it wouldn’t be long. Holidays always gave a reason to drink a little more, she found. People were together with their families and if they were half as messed up as Dora’s was, then that was reason enough to want to drink yourself into a stupor. In addition to the people watching, the balcony provided a sight that was simply too gorgeous to behold. Fin’s party planners had done a fabulous job. Everything seemed to sparkle, as was the point on new years eve.
“I’m the best dressed every night, darling. You know that.” She grinned, looking smugly at him from the corner of her eye, pleased that he liked her outfit and thought she looked attractive. Fin was her best mate, had been since they were children. They’d snogged a few times and Dora liked to get handsy when she was drunk but there hadn’t ever really been anything sexual between the pair. Fin was a guy and attracted to women, so when he complimented her looks it didn’t have to mean that they were going to shag in one of the private rooms in the back of the club, but she felt as attractive as if he was expecting just that.
Dora’s eyes scanned the crowd below as Fin commented on her being without a drink. He turned and began filling a flute with champagne as Dora spun in her heels to face him, leaning gently against the railing. “And hopefully some fantastic fucking in the new year,” she added with a laugh as they clinked their glasses together. She watched him over the rim of her glass as she sipped. Handsome. Wealthy. Successful. Fin was going to make some witch very happy in the future. “Love this suit on you.” Dora ran her fingers down the edge of his collar. “We almost look like a couple. I guess I had better go find a bloke to dance with before people get the wrong idea.” She smirked but turned back to look over the balcony, not yet ready to go into the crowd searching for more of her friends. She could spot them better from up here and even though she saw plenty of Fin, she really was missing him now that they weren’t living together.

Post by Jovian Isobel Corrine Rowle on Jan 3, 2018 1:12:09 GMT
The night was young and Jovi was spending it with her friends and boyfriend. She'd gotten dressed up and then again and again and again until she'd found something she was happy to go out in. Fussy was a word that only just began to describe Jovi when it came to what she was seen in. Her silver sequinned dress that she'd finally settled on would catch the eyes of anyone walking past, she was sure to shine and glimmer this New Years eve. It hugged her figure and using the little garter trick she'd learnt from Dora, her wand was strapped to her thigh, magic used to conceal the bump it would have other wise created.
The pubs were fun and the drinking was even better. They walked from pub to pub before settling in at a club for a while. Plenty of people were dancing but the place just lacked a good New Years eve feel. Jovi ditched about half of her friends while her boyfriend and the other half followed her to the Starlight Speakeasy, far more upperclass than the dump she was leaving a bunch of nobodies behind in, and that was exactly what they would become at school after the holidays were over. She'd drop them and they could suffer being unpopular like everyone else, Jovi didn't waste her time with the sort that wouldn't fall in line behind her, she was a leader of these people, not a follower. Sure she liked being popular and she wanted peoples adoration but she wasn't going to get that by being friendly all the time, she had to make it known she wouldn't put up with those sorts and once word got out around the school, plenty of people would be wishing to be her new friend and part of her little clique.
The queue into the Starlight Speakeasy was long but Jovi wasn't exactly accustomed to waiting. With her boyfriends arms around her middle she walked on up to the front door offering a smile to the bouncer whose name was completely escaping her. "Jovi, Jovi Rowle." she gave that smug little smile as the bouncer looked down his clip board and spotted her name. It was useful knowing the higher ups and it wasn't just for nightclubs that Jovi intended on strolling right in, by passing all the lessers in life too, taking care of whoever she needed to along the way. She didn't much care for the scum of the Earth and as far as Jovi was concerned if you weren't pureblooded then you were scum.
The music resonated around the club, people were dancing and some were sat along the sides with drinks, talking loudly in an attempt to be heard over the music. Jovi just lead her friends up to the bar, looking out for Dora. Jovi rather liked her cousin, she'd been closer to Theon but Dora was okay. It was amusing that her cousin now had to work in a place like this and it taught Jovi a very valuable lesson to make sure if she was ever left penniless then actually, she wouldn't be penniless at all. Still Dora was sweet in her own way. Caring which was nice and it benefitted Jovi greatly so she went along with it. She liked having people in her life that benefitted her and Dora was both family and a benefit in life and so Jovi actually liked spending time with the raven haired girl, even if her name was currently tarnished and being dragged through the mud backwards.
Dora wasn't at the bar so maybe she had the night off or perhaps, because she was the bosses favourite, the manager had her bussing tables, picking up filthy glasses and seeing to it anything disgusting was sorted out by Dora. It was amusing to see someone of Dora's standing slip so far. Jovi knew they were family, obviously, but it was still amusing to see even a lower, high society family slip the way they had slipped. Jovi was only glad that she was a Rowle and not a Parkinson and also that she was so closely related to the Lestrange's, it did wonders for her credibility. Her brothers would marry well and she would marry someone rather high class. Plenty of money. Good with business. "Get me some drinks, I'm going to dance." She told the people she was with. A couple of them moved with her to the dance floor, the rest stayed at the bar. Occasionally she classed the people she spent her time with as friends but they were only using her as she was using them, it was all about social standing, her own family name commanded a lot of respect on its own - Jovi demanded even more, and as she danced, her body swaying to the sounds, she knew she was the highest standing socialite on the dance floor.

❝Be my girl, I'll be your man I see my future in your eyes❞
James pulled at the cuff of his suit, turning to look at himself in the mirror. “Dookey… are you sure this is my color?” He turned his gaze to the house elf reflected in the mirror. The elf’s ears flapped as he jumped up and down, clapping his hands. “Master James looks handsome! Dookey made sure to pick out the very best for You’s, Master!” Nodding his head, James focused o his own reflection again. It did look good on him. Not that he should have been surprised. The House Elf had been looking after him since he was a babe. He’d always made sure James had had the best. Grinning, James turned to look at the House Elf. “Right. You and Malky take care of Mum and Dad, yeah? If they start to look too tired, you send them off to bed. No need for them to stress themselves by staying up late.” When he was given a nod, he dismissed the Elf with a slight nudge of his hand.
Making sure his wand was on his person (and his invisibility cloak), James made his way down to his dad’s study. He stood in the doorway for a few moments and just looked at the scene in front of him. His mum sat on the couch, needles hovering in midair in front of her as they weaved yarn together. Dookey was currently standing in front of her, preparing her a cup of tea. His Dad sat at his desk; quill scratching away on parchment. The other House Elf, Malky was talking to him. What was being said, James was too far away to hear. Knocking on the door, he announced that he was heading out. No, he wasn’t sure when he was coming home, and no, they shouldn’t wait up for him. He’d already ordered the House Elves to make sure they didn’t. Giving his dad a hug and his mother a kiss on he cheek, he made his way outside.
After walking a safe distance away from the house, he turned on the spot. The feeling of Apparating was one he still wasn’t comfortable with, even though he’d been doing it sine the last half of his sixth year of Hogwarts. Instantly, the fresh, clean air of the country side was replaced by the sounds of the city and the rustic smell of an alley. It wasn’t like he could just apparate in front of Lily’s flat. Not with the Muggles everywhere. Effortlessly slipping out of the alley and onto the sidewalk, he made his way to Lily’s flat. Walking up to her door, he pressed the doorbell.
“Wow…” His breath left him with the exclamation as he looked at his fiance. “You look… Blimey, I don’t think there’s a word to describe it.” Because although he could use beautiful and gorgeous, he felt they didn’t do her justice. Offering her his arm, he gave her his trademark grin. “Are you ready for an amazing night, Ms. Evans?” Once arm in arm, he led them back to the alley he’d apparated in and grinned at her, “Hold on.” Once sure she was holding on tight enough, he turned.
Suddenly they sounds of the Speakeasy filled the air; laughter and music mingling together effortlessly.

L ily was ever so slightly excited. She loved parties and New Year parties especially, although truth be told, that was just because they always broke up at midnight. The redhead was very definitely a morning person rather than an evening person; she could not stay up to the early hours of the morning like so many of her friends and colleagues. She always did her best to nab the early shifts before anyone else could get to them- not that anyone else was particularly keen to have them in any case, which suited the redhead right down to the ground. She'd no objection at all to getting up at six in the morning so long as it meant that she finished at two in the afternoon, whereas so many of her colleagues would rather start at two and finish at midnight. Lily really would not be able to cope with that for more than a few weeks. Hence why she liked parties that broke up at midnight. They didn't drag on until six in the morning, when she needed to be getting up again. She simply could not do that. Her excitement was not wholly due to the fact that the party would be finishing soon after midnight, of course. One factor which contributed in no small measure was the fact that James Potter was going to pick her up, and whilst some of her friends might rib her about that, that was one of the most exciting things which had happened this month. He was still an arrogant jerk, of course, but he was hers, and she wouldn't trade him for all the maharajas in India. James Potter was one of a kind, and that simply gave him novelty value. And Lily did not like to share. He was her boy but equally, she was his girl, from her head to her toes, and she honestly didn't think that she could leave him if she tried- not, of course, that she wanted to. She had spent simply hours in getting herself ready, which was unusual since Lily was not generally the kind of girl to take too much trouble over her appearance, but this was a special occasion. She had a date with her fiance. Of course, Lily being Lily, she was ready long before the appointed time, which left her with nothing to do but sit around looking as close to pretty as she could reasonably expect to get and trying not to crease her dress. And, of course, worrying. Was she overdressed? She thought she might be. It was only the Starlight... but did she have time to change? No, she didn't, because before she knew it, there was a tap at the door and there was only one person that it could be. Lily did not welcome many visitors to her little flat, and there were very few people who even knew her address. She was only expecting one of them tonight. Taking a deep breath to fortify herself, Lily glanced into the mirror to check that she didn't look a complete mess and pulled the door open, a smile spreading over her features as she spotted one James Potter. "Hello to you too." she teased, dropping a kiss on his cheek, although she was secretly rather pleased by his reaction. The redhead locked the door behind her, accompanying her fiance down the street with her arm wrapped tightly through his and her head held high. Words: 586 || Tags: James Henry Potter || Outfit

Post by Livia Eleanor Grace Burke on Jan 3, 2018 20:22:26 GMT
Starlight New Year Liv was excited. It didn't take much to get her excited, but she was a teeny bit more excited than that this time. New Years Eve was one of her favourite celebrations, and even though they'd only had Lilith birthday celebrations just a few days ago, the youngest Burke sister was definitely ready for more. Lilith's party had been incredibly classy and just stunning, a winter wonderland occasion that had outdone most of her previous parties. Livvi had been delighted, her camera flashing every few seconds practically all night as she'd captured hundreds of memories for her family, and she intended to get the best pictures from the night printed and framed for Lilith as a late gift, though she'd gotten her a pretty good present already. They'd gone shopping and Liv had paid for a gorgeous new pair of boots and a stunning coat for her princess of a big sister, but there was always room for more gifts, at least where Lil was concerned. Then again, Lyra wouldn't grumble at being showered with every present under the sun, either. Livvi grinned at the thought of her sisters and their diva-like ways, wondering if she might not have a touch of that lavish desire herself as she stared at her twinkling gown in the mirror of her bedroom. Her dress was floor length, glittering with silver sequins all over, with a neckline that plunged so low she'd had to magic her boobs to stay in place for the night so she didn't give everyone a show. After a few drike her opinion on how embarrassing that might be would definitely change, but for now she wanted to stay classy, and her reflection told her she'd done a fantastic job of it. Making sure she had everything she needed in her tiny bag, including her camera - the bag may have been enchanted to hold a lot more than it appeared to - she didn't bother with the front door, and apparated on the spot straight to Whimsic Alley. Her cousin Fin owned the Starlight Speakeasy, and so she frequented the place quite a bit, occasionally snagging a private room for herself and her friends, but preferring to mix with the rest of the crowds in the main room. There was always an interesting person or two to meet and even new friends to be made, and Liv didn't like to miss out on opportunities like that by being a snob in the back. She sailed straight through the door, not needing to give her name in since the doormen all knew who she was, between coming here because of Fin, or visiting Dora while she was working, she was certainly a familiar face around these parts. The room was buzzing with excitement, and Liv felt herself catching the vibe as soon as she stepped inside the club, breezing past the cloakroom since she hadn't needed to bring a coat with her, apparating straight from her apartment. Green eyes scanned the crowds, and she spotted the lovely red hair of Dora's cousin Jovi throwing some hot shapes on the dance floor. Livvi didn't know her all too well, but they'd met a few times and she seemed like a nice girl, pureblood, the right sort if a little bit spoiled, but weren't they all, Livvi included? She raised her hand in a happy little wave of greeting to the red haired beauty, and carried on scanning the crowds for her own cousin, eyes lifting to the balcony to find him cosied up to Dora. Liv didn't know why they'd never got together and had a go at some sort of romantic relationship, they'd have been fabulous together, but the pair seemed happy to just be friends, and Liv wasn't going to push them to ruin that, no matter how thrilled she would be if they did become an item. She glided up the stairs, silver dress trailing behind her, and crossed the balcony to the pair, who were chatting happily. "Oooh, champagne!" she trilled, making a beeline for Fin's flute and taking it from his grip before he could even take his first sip of the stuff. She leaned up and gave him a kiss on the cheek, then sipped the bubbly drink and turned to Dora, wrapping her free arm around the girl in a delicate hug and giving her air kisses so as not to get lip gloss all over her face. "Dora, you look incredible. Were you two about to start kissing or something, you look very cosy up here?" she teased, happy grin still in place. "I saw your cousin down there dancing," she added, peeking over the balcony to where she'd seen Jovian dancing up a storm. "Did she sneak in or is she legal these days?" Liv didn't keep track of things like that, she knew how old her friends were but she tended to be far too busy in life to remember numbers and dates for anything other than photoshoots she had penciled into her schedule. She kept all of her important information written down so she wouldn't forget, but she was still likely to have her moments of skipping birthdays and then feeling awful about it when she realised. _______________________ tag: Euphadora Rose Parkinson , Finley Charles Avery , Jovian Isobel Corrine Rowle and everyone! notes: <3 outfit: Silver stunner! template by izzy [googlefont="Ruthie"]

❝Be my girl, I'll be your man I see my future in your eyes❞
Although James didn’t see eye to eye with many of the patrons at the party, he was raised in their world. So it was relatively easy for him to act in a manner that was expected. Not that he probably would. After all, there was no fun in behaving at parties. Parties were meant to allow people to unwind. Have fun. He’d never found parties were you drank sophisticated drinks and spoke properly to be much fun. Which was why he’d tried to avoid those types of things when he was younger.
If he would have stuck with the more Pure, traditional way of life, he would have been mingling with the others in search of a ‘proper wife’. Of course, all James heard when he thought of that was ‘trophy wife’. And he’d never wanted a trophy wife. He wanted someone who wasn’t afraid to put him in his place. Someone he actually loved and cared for. Not some he may grow to care for. So he’d been all too happy when he found out his parents weren’t going to marry him off to some inbred distant relative. He knew it was probably all the inbreeding that the purebloods did that had caused his parents such a hard time having kids. He’d never mentioned it to Lily, but he was afraid he wouldn’t be able to have kids. A part of him was afraid she would leave him if she ever found out, though he knew Lily wouldn’t.
As one of the busboys walked past, James grabbed two glasses of Champagne, handing on of them to Lily. “To a New Year. A new us.” He put on his best snobbish voice before lightly clinking his glass to hers, a grin soon breaking across his features. “What shall we do first?”

Starlight New Year About to sip his champagne, Fin paused to laugh at Dora's words. Of course she'd cheers to fantastic fucking. "I'm so glad you've got your own place for that now," he grinned. "I don't need any more broken beds." She had broken one of the beds at his house, he'd heard the headboard crack from his room on the other side of the building, and he'd just known what had caused it without even needing to inquire. Dora had guys over. A lot. Fin had mostly turned a blind eye unless these guys were no good or filthy mudbloods and the like, he'd laid down the law that there'd be no muggle sweat on his sheets, thank you very much, and whenever she had someone over, he made her throw away the bedding the next day. It was a bit fussy of him, but he didn't like to think of other guys screwing people in his house, that was Fin's job, though he didn't actually want to screw Dora. That was a thing of the past though, with her having a place of her own now, and though he missed having her around his house so much, he didn't miss her habits when it came to guys. His second attempt at sipping his drink was halted by her again as she reached up to run a finger over his collar. He smiled, knowing he looked incredible, and appreciating her appreciating him. He appreciated anybody complimenting him when it was genuine - and why wouldn't it be? - but he liked having Dora fuss over him, she had an eye for the best, shiniest, most beautiful things, and to be included in that made Fin happy. He wiggled his eyebrows at her with a naughty smile. "Stay away from me at midnight, then, because I will kiss the closest pretty girl to me and then people will really be talking," he joked, not at all joking. He would be kissing the most attractive female in his immediate location wherever he happened to find himself at the stroke of midnight, and if he got hexed by her husband or fiance or whoever afterwards, so be it. He didn't really give a flying hinkypunk at this point in his life, he was feeling pretty invincible these days, what with lording it over his own club, having his own home, being free from his father's clutches and a trusted Death Eater to boot. It was quite the boost. "Oooh, champagne!" The girly voice of the tall blonde that approached them caused a smile to appear on Fin's slender face. His cousin Liv was a ball of fun, to say the least, and he wasn't surprised at all when she plucked the glass from his hand and claimed it for her own, making a fun comment about him and Dora being cosy. "Liv, here, have some champagne" he greeted sarcastically, allowing her to kiss his cheek and then busying himself rubbing the lip gloss off of his skin. He glanced at his fingers to inspect the shimmering shine on them, and reached for a napkin off of the nearest table, cleaning the gloss off and tossing the tissue into the bin on the other side of the balcony, a smug smile on his face as it went right in. He peered over the balcony, looking for the head of red hair that belonged to Dora's cousin, and found her on the dance floor alone. "No boyfriend tonight?" he muttered, knowing the teen usually had some idiot boyfriend or other that followed her around like a puppy. Fin considered going down there to speak to Jovian, but he thought Dora might be the better person to do that as her family. _______________________ tag: Euphadora Rose Parkinson , Livia Eleanor Grace Burke and everyone! notes: The party is on, dudes! L ily was not nearly so comfortable in magical society as her partner was, but then it had to be remembered that she had only come into it at a fairly late age- only eight years ago, in fact- and that was not quite all, either, since she had spent seven of those years only entering the magical world in order to go to school and, as was so often remarked, Hogwarts was nothing at all like the rest of the world. She was only just beginning to work out the ins and outs of exactly how everything worked, and though she had paid close attention to the Daily Prophet throughout her school years in an effort to gain an understanding of the political situation, it all became just that bit more real when you had the victims of various battles and conflicts passing through your hands or, as a Muggle surgeon might have said, under your knife every day. Magical parties were still somewhat new to Lily and she was not entirely confident in how to handle them, but, being Lily, she had decided to come anyway, and to do her absolute damndest to get it right. Could you get a party wrong? The redhead wasn't sure; she didn't know much about Muggle parties either. She allowed a broad smile to break across her face, displaying a mouthful of bright white teeth as she clinked her glass against James' and took a sip of its contents, closing her eyes for a moment to enjoy the sensation of the bubbles against the roof of her mouth and leaning against her boyfriend ever so slightly. "Why a new us?" she queried. "What's wrong with the old us? Oh, and what's with all this first business? I was only planning on doing one thing tonight." One emerald green eye fluttered closed and then open again. Once, she had been innocent. Words: 323 | Tags: James Henry Potter

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
Dora giggled when Fin reminded her of the time she had broken one of the headboards at his house. “That’s why my new bed doesn’t have a headboard,” she replied with a naughty grin. It was completely an accident, of course, and she’d mended it properly after the fact but apart from pausing from the shock, it hadn’t been a big enough disturbance to interrupt the fun she and Jude had been having. Dora tried to be respectful of the fact that she was staying in someone else’s home, but Fin was closer to family than a landlord and she did sometimes get a little out of hand, being so comfortable there. Jude had come over several times, as did Oliver and Marcus – on separate occasions of course. Then there were the random blokes whom she had met out and about, usually at the Starlight while tending bar, and after a handful of compliments being thrown around Dora really couldn’t say no to a little tumble in the sheets. She was always in a better mood after a good shag, so really it was only beneficial for Fin as he had to deal with her on the not-so-good days more than anyone else. Being roomies had perks as well as downsides, and Dora was well aware that she was on the better end of that scale. Fin had given her a place to call home for over a year without charging her rent. He comforted her when her melancholy overtook her, and he cuddled with her at night when she had one of her more anxiety-producing nightmares. In return for all of that, Fin got the pleasure of getting to be around Dora, which is a treat all on its own but not really comparative to everything Dora had gotten out of the relationship. She knew she would probably never be able to repay Fin, but she also knew that he didn’t expect or want her to.
“Noted,” Dora replied after Fin warned her not to be near when the clock struck midnight. She had no plans to be, she was going to find her own bloke to snog when the time came. Fin would be on his own, unless Greengrass showed up and then Dora would be sure they were in the same area come midnight. A familiar girlish voice squealed “ooh, champagne,” and Dora laughed as Livia appeared seemingly out of nowhere and stole Fin’s glass. Dora gave a confident, appreciative look as her appearance was once again complimented. She never tired of hearing how good she looked and Dora knew she looked amazing tonight. Liv teased them about getting cozy in the nightclub and Dora teased her right back. “He wishes,” she cooed, giving Fin a little smirk. “You look smashing!” Dora clinked her glass with the blonde’s as Fin got himself another drink. Livia always had such wonderful style, it was one of the things that first drew Dora to the witch. Tonight was clearly no exceptions.
Jovi, Dora’ cousin on her mum’s side, was brought up and Dora turned to look over the balcony again, following Livia’s lead and finding Jovi easily. Hands above her head, hips swaying freely, hair like a bloody strawberry. That was Jovi alright. “Her ID says she’s legal,” Dora answered with a smirk. According to the little piece of plastic in Jovi’s handbag, she’d been legal for a few years now. Dora enjoyed her younger cousin, even though Jovian had been closer to Theon than Dora, and she’d acquired a fake ID card for her so they could get into nightclubs and wherever else Dora wanted to go. It wasn’t like she was corrupting her younger cousin, Jovi was a spitfire all unto herself. Dora simply encouraged what was already there. “Boyfriend’s probably fetching drinks. I don’t remember this one’s name but I think… yeah, that’s him there.” Sure enough, Dora spotted another familiar face in the crowd and pointing at him, this one carrying two drinks through the crowd of dancers, holding the glasses above his head so not to have them knocked out of his hands. It was a risky move and part of Dora wanted him to spill them both straight on his head, if nothing but for the entertainment of it all.

The music was loud, the atmosphere was intoxicating and Jovi couldn't get enough of the night. She'd been out clubbing for two years, too young to legally be allowed anywhere back then but now she was seventeen it was legal. At least in the wizarding world. She used the fake ID Dora had gotten her in the muggle world. It said she was 20 which was more than old enough there but the wizarding world, the magical world in which she spent the vast majority of her life, was far more sensible. The age of a legal adult being seventeen thus making Jovi an adult. Of course her ID still said she was 20 but she could use her real one if she wanted but she never got asked for ID here, not since she was younger, she was all too regular now that she could apparate here alone if she wanted or with friends, boyfriends, or even Dora, she could just walk in, especially on special nights like this when the lesser people had to queue for what was probably an hour wait by now, possibly longer.
There was a loud, disapproving throat clear to Jovi's right and her head whipped around to see what had caused the disturbance. Hazel eyes soften at the sight of mister handsome, who happened to be her boyfriend and carrying two drinks, something brown looking for himself and something pink, fluffy, and sparkly for her. Jovi pushed the guy that had hold of her hips away and took one of the drinks her boyfriend was carrying. He did not look impressed but Jovi wasn't concerned in the slightest. "What was that all about?" Jovi opened her eyes a little wider, her brow quirked upward looking as though she were thinking, as though she couldn't possibly know what he was on about and yet she of course was very aware that her boyfriend was a little bit pissy but she liked to play innocent. "What was what all about?" She asked, as if her rubbing her backside up against some random guy was completely normal while his hands had started at her waist and made their way down to her hips, having pulled her against him and she with no objections at all, he was hot after all. Sadly her boyfriend had interrupted before any fun could begin. It wasn't as if he didn't have girls throwing themselves at him and it wasn't as if he didn't enjoy it all. "That," He hissed with a scowl leaning in towards her as she raised her drink slightly, slipping the straw past her plump lips that were painted red for the night with a glittering shimmer that dazzled under the lights of the club, as if there wouldn't be anything not sparking on her tonight, "What you were doing with him." He said, jerking his head towards the bloke that was now pressing himself up against some blonde while checking over his shoulder at Jovi. Jovi just went back to dancing, carefully, as she sipped her cocktail through a straw. She released the straw from her lips, dancing with a little more movement. "It's just a bit of fun. It's New Years eve, lighten up or just go home." She told him, knowing he wouldn't lose his brutish temper while out in the eye of the public.
Jovi looked away and sipped some more of her drink, dancing with her friends the were trying to look as though they weren't noticing the little tiff the couple were getting in to on the floor or the fact that Jovi's boyfriend seemed to be getting redder and redder by the second, the light reflecting from her dress only drawing more attention to her boyfriend as the reflections danced across his handsome features. Even when angered he was handsome. "I just might." He said angrily, throwing his drink down on the floor at some poor blokes feet. Jovi didn't care, tonight she was all about enjoying herself with or without her boyfriend, because if he thought there was anyway she'd not have a snog with some hottie come midnight, he was sorely mistaken. If he wasn't going to be the man by her side come midnight then she was just going to have to find a temporary one. She'd make up with her tantrum having, drink throwing boyfriend in the morning, until then he could wait on the edge of the dance floor or from the bar, drowning his sorrows for all she cared, seething and watching her have the best end of year dance ever.

Starlight New Year Deciding to leave the girls to talk, Fin placed his newest drink down on the table and moved past Dora and Liv, leaning in to speak to them. "Excuse me, ladies," he offered them a dazzling smile and swept from the balcony, trotting down the spiral stairs, sapphire eyes on Jovian the whole time as he watched her boyfriend's expression become more and more pissed off by the second. She'd been dancing with another guy while the idiot got her a drink, and clearly didn't appreciate his girlfriend having fun with someone else. Fin shook his head a little, kind of amused by the situation since they were seventeen, and flirting and flitting from one person to another was perfectly normal at that age, expected even, so if this guy wanted to get angry, he'd have to take it somewhere else. Nobody would be ruining this night as long as Fin was around, he'd had people work too hard on it for some teenage prat to throw a tantrum. A part of him also felt the need to make sure he didn't hurt Jovi, but mostly he just wanted to protect his party from going down hill. He reached the bottom of the stairs and crossed to the dance floor just in time to witness tall, dark and ugly throw his drink on the floor, and Fin's wand was in his hand in half a second, flicking it at the spilled liquid and sending it sailing up off of the floor and some disgruntled party-goers feet and straight into the face of Jovi's boyfriend. "Oooh, careful there, bud," Fin shouted to be heard over the music, putting a hand on the ogre's back and cringing at his now soaked face and shirt. "The toilets are that way," he pointed across the room. "And the front door is that way if you wanna go home and get changed, maybe calm yourself down a bit." Patting the now even more angry lad on the back, he gave him a shove towards the toilets, which were in the same area as the exit so he could conveniently fuck off if he didn't want to end his little tantrum. Fin moved to Jovi's side, sliding an arm around the younger girl and pulling her in close for a hug, eyes locking with Brutus' over her shoulder as he offered a smirk to the guy, his lips close to Jovi's ear. "Everything okay, love?" he asked, guiding her a few steps away as a member of staff swept in to clean the mess up off of the floor. _______________________ tag: Jovian Isobel Corrine Rowle , Livia Eleanor Grace Burke , Euphadora Rose Parkinson and everyone! notes: <3 outfit: Handsome as Hell template by izzy [googlefont="Allura"]

Jovi was more than happy dancing, enjoying the thrill of the night as people around her enjoyed their time in the Starlight Speakeasy. Well most people at least. Her boyfriend was busy being an absolute dick but no sooner had his tantrum started he was splashed in the face with his drink. Jovi laughed, still dancing away while her friends looked on, concerned for the temper of the easily angered seventh year that just had a drink splashed in his face. Jovi didn't care, Tom wouldn't make a scene here in front of everyone, not a proper scene, but it was probably a good idea that Fin had clapped him on the back and was attempting to shove him off towards then mens or the exit. Tom had two choices, clean up and behave or bugger off. Jovi rather hoped he would stay to enjoy watching her flirt and enjoy herself with other guys and seeing that Fin was here, she rather fancied seeing if she couldn't drive Tom insanely wild with the club owner himself.
Fin's arm came around her and Jovi wasn't going to waste the opportunity to annoy her boyfriend a little more. She leant in against Fin as he wrapped his arm around her, his hand sliding over the small of her back. She knew it was to make her ex - whoops, boyfriend, a little jealous and she was welcoming it. She held her drink out a little so as not to waste precious alcohol by spilling it on Fin or anyone else. As he brought his lips along side her ear she smirked and walked with him a few paces while the remainder of the mess created by Twatface Tom was cleaned up quickly by staff that were clearly on the look out for anything that needed attending. Jovi smirked, pursing her lips lightly, tilting her head just a little, making sure to lean in against Fin just a little, leaving no space at all between the two. "Everything's absolutely horrendous. What's a girl got to do to get a handsome gentleman to show her a good time?" She pouted. Of course things weren't horrendous in the slightest, her tone implying the opposite of her words. She of course wouldn't expect to find a gentleman in the club at all. It was New Years eve and clubs were for the drunk, ready and willing to let go of all inhibitions. You didn't find gentlemen in crowds like that, you found predators but Jovi had a trick or two up her sleeve, taught to her by Dora. Her favourite was convincing the guy to get her another drink before heading back to his but while he was at the bar she'd give his bum a little squeeze and tell him she was just going to 'freshen up'. Then rather than head for the toilets it was a beeline for the nearest exit. Men thought with their cocks and as long as you played along they were easy enough to manipulate and far too easy to outsmart.
