When your life was all wrapped up in one place it was hard to let it go, even if just for a few hours. Roz loved catching up with her friends but they mostly came to her and she worked during their visits, standing across the other side of the bar, serving the occasional customer, changing the occasional barrel with a roll of her wand. It was okay, her friends were used to it. The Three Broomsticks was her life and so it was rare for her to leave the pub but today was one of those rare days where she’d run an errand and visited an old friend that couldn't come to her. It was funny being away from her home and her life, it made her feel like a completely different person. She had a life before the Broomsticks, one where she was happy and free, but she felt she owed it to her now passed husband to do everything she could to see to it that The Three Broomsticks was successful and to do that she had to be there to run it as often as possible, pushing through those days where she felt trapped and like she was going nowhere with her life. How cheerful!
Roz decided to push her comfort levels and rather than return to Hogsmeade and her little safety nest, she decided to pay Diagon Alley a little visit. It had been forever since she’d been there, a year at least, so she was keen to see how it had changed, if at all. When she arrived she could tell the difference. Although it was an overcast december day there weren’t nearly as many witches and wizards out and about, spending their money in stores. Roz could relate. Hogsmeade was slower too, though her pub was doing just as much business as always. She supposed scared people still enjoyed a pint or two, a little something to soothe the nerves every now and then. Roz sighed. She remembered how packed it had been a couple of years ago. It was really settling in how hard this war was hitting home. There should have been happy couples holding hands as they strolled down the cobblestones, there should have been groups of friends chattering and laughing away. Sure there were still people about, plenty to keep the Alley going, but it was no way near as packed as it should have been for a Saturday nearing Christmas.
