Order of the Phoenix
Lily Jessica Evans
PERSONALITY Boggart: Her father dying, telling her it was her fault. Mirror of Erised: Herself in her eighties, standing arm in arm with James, surrounded by children and grandchildren. Patronus: Doe - Her happiest memory is the day when James Potter finally asked her to marry him. Although Lily was quiet, withdrawn and bookish as a girl, her personality bloomed as she grew, and she eventually became an outgoing woman with plenty of confidence. However, her kind heart and her love of books, knowledge and learning remained unchanged, as did her sense of justice. Lily has always had a strong sense of right and wrong, which has in the past caused her some considerable stress at times when one was not necessarily distinct from the other. She works hard, devoting herself entirely to what she happens to be doing at the time to the extent that she often forgets the time, and is extremely loyal to her friends and family- when others fail to reciprocate this, it causes her a great deal of worry and distress. Those she loves, she loves deeply, and seldom ever ceases to do so. However, she also has a true redhead's temper, and those who annoy, offend or cross her would do well to watch out, since Lily is an accomplished duellist and quite capable of hexing a fly from the other side of the room. Despite having been both a Prefect and Head Girl, Lily does have a great sense of fun and enjoys wordplay and sarcasm, although she does not engage in practical jokes, considering them to be childish. HISTORY Mother: Eleanor Lucy Evans, 39, Muggle Father: Simon Harold Evans, 41, Muggle Siblings: Petunia Leah Dursley née Evans, 21, Muggle Partners: James Potter, 19, Gryffindor, pureblood. Others: None Lily was born in the winter of 1960 to Muggle parents in an industrial town named Cokeworth, where she grew up. Her sister, Petunia, was three years older, but the two were very close, and as they grew up, they were almost never seen away from each other. Lily was a quiet, bookish kind of girl, and as such, she came in for a certain amount of teasing from the other children of the neighbourhood, especially at school; Petunia, however, was the complete opposite, which made it all the odder that the two should get on so well, and she was perfectly prepared to defend her little sister to the death. Metaphorically speaking, of course. When she was nine, Lily met a rather strange boy who came from the other, poorer, side of town, who went by the name of Severus Snape. She discovered a shared interest in the world of books and literature, and gradually worked to bring the boy out of his shell. Before too long, they were very close friends, which had the effect of creating the first divide between Lily and her sister. While Lily rather liked Severus and enjoyed spending her time with him, Petunia distrusted him, maintaining that he was a weird little freak who would probably steal the nose off her face if he was allowed to. This animosity between her two favourite people rather upset Lily, and she found herself spending more and more time out of the house- with Severus. Which, of course, only distanced her further from her sister. Their relationship gradually worsened, but the final blow came on Lily's eleventh birthday, when a woman whom Petunia considered to be even weirder than Severus arrived, giving Lily a letter telling her that she had been accepted to a magical school and informing her parents that their daughter was a witch. This was rather more of a surprise to Mr and Mrs Evans than to Lily, who had been hearing all about Hogwarts from Severus for years. Lily's parents were delighted; her sister, less so. Petunia was hugely jealous, and made her sister's life a misery until she left on the Hogwarts Express on September the first. On arriving at Hogwarts, Lily was Sorted quickly into Gryffindor, which was rather disappointing for the redhead, who had wanted to be Sorted in Slytherin with Severus. Still, the two met up whenever they could, sharing lessons and ignoring the mutterings of their Housemates who didn't believe that a Slytherin and a Gryffindor could really be friends. She quickly discovered that she had a natural affinity with Potions and Charms, and attracted favourable attention from her teachers in most subjects because of her hard work and talent. She enjoyed her lessons and made friends quickly, although there was one notable exception; a boy named James Potter, who she considered to be the most stupid, arrogant, thoughtless idiot that she had ever had the misfortune to come across; the fact that he seemed to have picked on her specifically as a target was a definite misfortune. He started asking her out in their third year... and didn't stop until their seventh. In her fifth year, she had her first real experience with the Death Eater ideology when her 'friend', Severus, called her a Mudblood to her face in front of a crowd of people. Lily managed to avoid crying, although she later felt ashamed of the way that she reacted by insulting Severus in turn. She refused to accept his apologies when he inadvertently proved his allegiance with the Death Eaters, and cried herself to sleep in her dormitory that night. By this time, her attitude towards James had changed somewhat- she still thought him an idiot, a showoff and a bully, but she did at least respect the way that he stood up to the aspiring Death Eaters in the school. Lily was delighted when she was selected to be Head Girl in her seventh year, her happiness marred only slightly by the realisation that her opposite number would be James Potter. Still, she eventually came to see that he had matured since they first met, and eventually she agreed to date him. Her tolerance quickly grew into a regard, and eventually she had no alternative but to admit that she loved him. The pair remained together after Hogwarts, even through Lily's Healer training, and the day that he asked her to marry him was the happiest of her life.
