Cozmo was the second son of Maya and Henry Vance. The spare to the heir, so to speak, though he was never bothered about all of that. Restriction was never his thing. He loved to be free in every way. Restricted by tradition? No thanks. Restricted by blood? Nah. Restricted by money? Well, yeah. Honestly, that was hard. He was only young when his father was murdered, but he remembers how much they struggled. He remembers how hard his brother worked to help them get back on their feet, and he remembers feeling worried every day. Even at school, where he was a Ravenclaw, Cozmo fretted over the state of their family. It was particularly upsetting for him, as he had no desire to be tied down to the responsibility of fixing things like Henry was. Cozmo just wanted to be free to live his life how he wanted. The thought of having to get a summer job to help out made him feel sick. He loved his family more than anything, but he contributed by being Henry's biggest cheerleader through it all. Yep. That was his lame contribution. And then when he graduated (with spiffing grades), Cozmo fucked off to another country. One less burden on his family's purse, right? Totally.

So he travelled while his brother busted a gut. Cozmo went all over Europe. He trained to be a Healer in France, where he stayed for a few years before moving on, fed up of French women. He went to Italy and found Italian men fascinating. He went to Spain and had the best tan of his life. Travelling suited him. Travelling, helping sick or injured people so that he felt like he was doing some good in the world, and being a bit of a whore. Or a lot of a whore. Enough of a whore that he got one girl pregnant in Spain, and then she died giving birth to their son. It was a whole drama, and it was a whole ten years ago. Cozmo raised little Barney alone, travelling with him for the past ten years, until he finally decided that it might be wise to settle back in England in time for Barney to start at Hogwarts later this year. So he's working at St. Mungo's, and he's realising that it was a bit shit of him to just bugger off like he did and leave his family to struggle along without him, but he loves them and... ya know... better late than never, right? Right? *cringe*
