Nothing would be more soul destroying for Rom. Mirror of Erised: He and Leila are really old, ancient, in fact, wizened beyond belief, still bickering romantically, still adoring each other in their crumbly bodies. Patronus: Chimp - The first time he ever danced with Leila. They were a little bit tipsy, so the memory is fluffy at the edges, but realising that he might have someone that he could dance like that with for the rest of his life just made his heart so happy. Romulus Gene. That's the name of a god, right? It sounds important, regal, powerful. Rom is not really any of those things, not in his own mind, anyway. He was a quiet child, content in his own company, or with others invading his space, he was always very adaptable, which was good, because he became a big brother quite early on in his life, and had two siblings to contend with. He always had a quirky sense of humour, and was able to make people smile with great ease. He likes to be a bit cheeky, a bit cheesy, and a lot loving. Rom gives the best hugs, seriously, you should try him out sometime, he wouldn't say no. At school he was placed in Gryffindor, which he found weird. He'd expected Ravenclaw because he always had his nose stuck in books and a quiet intelligence twinkling away in his eyes. The hat said he had a subtle bravery and sense of conviction that would lead him to wonderful places in life. He took it on the chin, and was actually thrilled with the hat's decision when he met his soon-to-be best friend, Atticus Vaile and realised that being in Gryffindor was about to be the best thing in the world. That feeling lasted all through school, honestly it did, the boys had a blast together. Rom excelled in his studies, as expected by all, particularly loving DADA and the Frog Choir. Oh, who are we kidding, he was in every club going, including Wizards Chess, and had a quick stint on the Quidditch team before an injury put him off and he resigned himself to the stands. When he graduated he lived a bit of a roguish life, adventuring with Atti and having fleeting relationships with women who only really wanted to mess around. Rom wasn't really looking to mess around, not really. Yes, he enjoyed the crazy nights and the women, but he was really searching. Searching for the one, for the woman that would want more than his looks. He spent his time writing, penning books on defensive magic, duelling guides, even a highly well received book on dark arts and how to recognise them at play. He worked hard and played hard, though he did love his cosy nights in with his dogs and his books more than anything. He booked such a cosy getaway one Christmas and accidentally fell in love with the woman who was also booked into the same cottage at the same time. A terrible error, but it worked out wonderfully for Rom. Leila was magical. She was pure magic. She had the most incredible energy and humour that he just adored right from the start. He couldn't stop smiling whenever he was with her, and soon enough they were serious enough for him to be popping the question in a very romantic fashion. Now they've been married for years and their fourth child is about to put in an appearance any day now. Leila worked as a teacher at Hogwarts and put in a good word for him at the castle and he was offered the Defence Against the Dark Arts position, something he absolutely thrives doing. He lives in a house on the grounds of Hogwarts with his wife and kids, and pops to the castle to teach every day. It's bliss. Actual bliss.
