Elara is incredibly strong-willed and is not likely to give in once she’s set her mind on something. This has gotten her into trouble on occasion, but she is also incredibly clever and manages to get out of any trouble she may find herself in. She is hard to befriend but if you manage to crack her tough exterior she is incredibly loyal. She loves her family, even her father who is rumored to have killed her mother, and she loves her pack but Lara has the spirit of an adventurer and she is beginning to wonder whether life outside of her pack might be more fitting. For most of her life, the Faust Pack’s nomadic nature has sated Elara’s sense of daring wonder, but since her grandfather’s death and her father’s rise as the pack’s Alpha, Elara is feeling torn about where she belongs. Romantic entanglements are not her concern at the moment, though she’s not one to pass up a good opportunity should one present itself. As with most things, Elara is bold in her pursuits of love – she isn’t one to be shy and she sees no sense in playing hard to get.

Elara was born to Bianca Zimmer and Ulric Faust on a cold winter’s night in the middle of the wood. Little privacy was afforded to the new mum who had spent the last several months of her pregnancy coming to terms with the secret Ulric had only recently shared with her; he was a werewolf. On top of that shocking revelation, Bianca learned that Ulric was the firstborn son of his pack’s alpha and due to inherit the pack as their rightful leader someday. Bianca, an ordinary witch from a middle class family was overwhelmed but in love and easily coerced into the pack’s rituals which included giving birth to Ulric’s daughter (and later, two more children) by the light of the moon away from wizarding and muggle society. Ulric failed to mention a more barbaric aspect of his pack’s rituals to his lover; on the first full moon following their fifth birthday, children born to pack members are bitten and then raised as werewolves with their family. Bianca, an outsider, was unaware of what laid ahead for little Elara and her brothers, as were the children themselves.

Elara was a happy little girl, adventurous like her father and passionate like her mother. She was often scolded for playing too roughly with her brothers or the other children in their pack, but Lara thought it was funny when her mum yelled, and her father always snuck her treats whenever she was punished for being ‘wild’. When Elara turned five, Ulric announced to the family for the first time, in the presence of the entire pack, that his daughter was to become a werewolf with the next full moon, less than a fortnight away. Bianca was horrified and attempted to run away with her three children, but she was met in the forest by a pack of wolves. It was a miracle the children survived and were found, by chance (if you believe the pack’s story) by their father. Elara wasn’t often described as a happy child after that, though her daring nature was still firmly intact.

As a young werewolf in need of a proper education, Elara was sent to Durmstrang Institute where her father assumed they would be more accepting of their kind as he was a former Durmstrang student like many of the more veteran wolves of the pack. Elara’s siblings (which now included an additional brother and sister from her father’s most new relationship with another werewolf) would all attend Durmstrang as well. Lara was well into her education when her father had a sixth and final (thus far) child by a third woman, a muggle, who died in childbirth. It was at school that Elara heard, for the first time, the rumor of what had truly happened to her mother. The Faust children were not the only werewolves at the school and it was in her fourth year that the idea her mum was murdered by her father was suggested by a boy from another family’s pack. Elara was given detention for three nights, but she fared better than the boy who ended up in the hospital wing. She never mentioned the incident to her father.

After graduation, Elara rejoined her pack full time and began training to take over the role of alpha one day. It was a day she thought to be long into the future; her father was first in line, but her grandfather was quite healthy and stronger than a man ought to be. It was a shock to the entire pack when Randon Faust was killed after an encounter with the ruthless Fenrir Greyback, leaving Ulric to lead and positioning Elara as a very unprepared first in line to the proverbial crown. To say Elara felt conflicted about her new position was an understatement and she is currently weighing her options; stay with her pack or forge her own path as a lone wolf.
