Charming and playful, chivalrous and wild, Atticus Vaile lives for pleasure. He does what pleases him and he's not ashamed of that. Thankfully what pleases him is more than that of shallow men. Atti finds pleasure from all kinds of places, the smile of a stranger he allowed step in front of him at the coffee shop, the laughter of his nephew as he regales him with stories from Atti's own youth, spending time with his brother is another pleasure. He feels closer to Abraxas now than he ever has done before. And of course there are the beautiful women with whom he spends his time. He's come across quite a few witches in his time that have been thrilled by his gaze but only a few that have experienced more than just his iridescent eyes.

Born on the cusp of Capricorn and Aquarius, Atticus has a little of both star signs in his personality; He's always been more mature than his peers (something he blames on having such an older brother), and he's blessed with the patience of a saint (well, sort of, he has zero tolerance on bullshit bullies) he makes for a charismatic team leader (and he's always someone people want in their team), and he's secretly quite brilliant in his mind. His Hogwarts grades never reflected how intelligent he actually was because he would often find other ways to spend his time rather than doing homework. Besides, Atti never really thought  of himself as intelligent and he dismissed any such claims that he was anything other than average.

People don't realise it but Atti is actually impressively stubborn. He could outlast a donkey. Most people don't realise how stubborn he is because he's so charming (even manipulative) that he gets his way without causing any sort of fuss. People have disliked him over the years due to jealousy and inferiority, or so he'd have you believe. Who knows what people are really pissed at him for. Probably knocking them out in the hallway for pushing a girl around or hexing their arses if they tried cornering him in the library. Why were they cornering him? No reason at all! Apart from maybe he'd snogged their girlfriends, but honestly, they didn't deserve such good looking girlfriends. Clearly whoever invented 'bros before hos' had no prospect of ever getting laid.

Currently single, Atticus isn't bothered about having a girlfriend or not. If he's single then there are always one night stands or friends with benefits, if he's in a relationship then he's having plenty of fun times so why would he bother straying? Relationships aren't typically Atti's speed but he's been known to give them a chance, although he's certain they're not for him, no matter how much he'd love a wife and child of his own, he's not sure it'll ever happen. Atti feels he's just better single but that doesn't mean he'll turn down a relationship with a woman if she's engaging enough for him.

Naihme and Aiden Vaile had thought they'd done it, they'd thought that they'd created the most perfect little human in all of the land - Abraxas Vaile. As it turned out the little sod was more a clown than a proper heir but they still loved him, however they decided, after many many years, that they desired another son, a proper heir that they could be proud of, one that wasn't a clown. Atticus did not disappoint. He was the perfect baby and they doted on him. He was their perfect golden haired prince and it showed in the way they spoilt him.


Well okay, fine, none of that's true. Atti and Abraxas were equally spoilt, although really not all that spoilt at all. There was a large age gap between the brothers purely because there just was. The Vaile's loved their sons equally and there was never any sort of favouritism that Atticus had noticed, however he will - even to this day - proclaim that he is the favourite. His relationship with his brother is built around their wacky sense of humours and it's part of the reason that now, as a grown man with an estate of his own, Atticus lives under his brother's roof - in a way that is most definitely not creepy, he thinks.


Atti grew up most of his life feeling like an only child. He only saw his brother when he was home from school holidays. It was fine. Atti had a few friends he enjoyed playing with, although he did get lonely every now and then. School holidays were always the highlight of the year because Abraxas had so much sway over little Atticus's heart. Atti admired his big brother like no other.

Atticus was destined for Hogwarts and he hoped to fit in well. His brother was graduated but Atti was looking forward to it all the same. The house of the Lion, the same house as Abraxas,  became Atti's home for the next seven years. He didn't join any clubs, he didn't spend any time trying to be the perfect student, he just learnt what he wanted and did as he pleased - which usually involved snogging some girl in the stacks of the library. What could he do?! He was gorgeous! He wasn't going to waste time learning about the goblin civil war when he could get into Melissa Toronto's knickers.

Out of Hogwarts and with a home gifted to him by his parents, Atticus felt that no matter how much he worked or how often he visited his family, he always had a foreboding sense that he was going to die alone. He stayed at his parents every now and then and stopped by his brother's about once a week, too. He liked the feeling of being with family. His home was cold and lonely, it wasn't a place he enjoyed returning to, and so gradually he moved in with his brother.

It wasn't long before little Killian entered the world. Atticus was amazed by the little creature. He was so small and perfect, Atticus had never desired a family of his own but seeing the way Abraxas and Corona were with little Killian made him somewhat envious. It was a beautiful image and Atti wanted that for himself someday, but he couldn't ever imagine falling in love. It was a beautiful pipe dream.

Bouncing around, Atti never stayed in a job for long. True, he didn't need a job, but he enjoyed socialising. Of course he hated actual work so relatively often he got by on his charm until he was done, ready to move on to the next job or take a few months off, enjoy life and all the beautiful women it had to offer. To this day, Atti still ives with his brother, sister in law and nephew. He wouldn't change it for the world. Even though Killian is all grown up and a an in his own rights, Atti still looks out for him, playing the role of 'cool uncle' because, let's face it, he has a totally embarrassing dad!
