Tish took the parchment and quill from the vet, the dog growling putting her on edge, but her reflexes were fast enough that she could just watch the dog for now, if it decided to leap off the table and jump at her then she'd still have plenty of time to dodge the creature and hopefully get herself out of the way. "Yeah, sure." As neatly as she could Tish wrote down her name and address, hoping there wouldn't be anything to contact her about, "If that's all, I'd best be getting on," She said, jolting her thumb at the exit. She placed the quill on top of the parchment and smiled, nodding her head, "Thanks for your help." She said before she took a step backwards and turned, heading the hell away from the dog at what she hoped was a normal speed and nothing too fast to raise suspicions.

The vet ran his hand through his hair and Tish noted to herself that he looked more like a model than a vet. He belong on a calendar, shirtless in the summer sun, on a beach, for the month of August. She was over thinking this, she had to sharpen her mind. Her address? Oh Merlin, this sucked. "Sure." She said, agreeing almost immediately which she was sure was weird. "Do you have some parchment?" She asked. She hoped it was out at the front desk and not anywhere near the dog. She was fairly certain that if she got any closer to the dog then it would leap off the table and attempt to sink it's teeth into her flesh. Yes the dog was unconscious, but based on that growl when she'd first walked into the room, she was very much aware of Tish's presence. She was only half-vampire, for Merlin's sake, surely animals didn't have to be quite as prejudice as they were!

Her that hit her? Tish's eyes widened, "No!" She blurted, "I don't even drive." She said, hoping he believed her. He had to believe her, if she did drive and had hit the dog, surely she would have driven here, but as he could clearly see, her white coat had scrapes of mud scratched all over it from the dog that had been struggling against her all the way to his clinic. "A few streets over." Tish tried to recall the name, "It was a road just off of Elizabeth Street," She had the car number plate still memorised but she wasn't going to share that, she wanted to pay a visit to the arsehole that knocked the dog and drove the hell off. What kind of an arsehole did that? Or maybe it was just better to hand over the number plate and let whatever law department took care of those things the chance to take care of it. Did people get arrested or anything for hit and runs with a dog?

Ohh, oh. Ho oh. She should not have been listening in. Tish calmed herself before he cheeks even began to think of changing to that all telling rouge-red that they liked to turn when she was embarrassed in one way or another. The pretty darn good looking vet had called her 'really pretty' and he wasn't aware that she could hear him at all. She felt uncomfortable having heard that but luckily for her, she was a pro at acting as though things had never happened. It was easy, all she had to do was just not talk. Ever.
It wasn't long before the vet was back out again. Tish stood up, hoping that the dog was okay so that she could just head off, feeling as though she'd done the right thing. What she did not expect was the vet wanting a few more details from her. "Oh, sure." Tish placed the magazine down and stepped back into the examination room. She caught the vet's scent strongly as she walked past him and it was a combination of several animals and his own deodorant and aftershave. It was quite nice but it did nothing to mask the smell of the animals, and why would it!? Tish just wasn't used to being able to smell animals quite so much. At least the dog was thankfully fast asleep, although Tish could have sworn its jowls just twitched. She was going to keep her distance, just in case it decided to wake up and lunge at her. This was definitely a side of being half-vampire that sucked.

Holy. Sodding. Merlin! This dog was relentless! Tish just made her way to wherever the vet had indicated, stepping carefully to make sure she wasn't going to bang her legs on a sodding coffee table. The last thing she needed right now was to come tumbling down with a rabid dog trying to eat her face of. She was rather attached to her face and the idea of this dog ruining it all thanks to a coffee table would be more than a minor annoyance to say the least. "I don't really know." She said, getting into the vet's room and setting the spaniel dog down the the examination table. It went for her but Tish's lightning fast reflexes got her out of harms way pretty quickly, but the dog wasn't happy. Its eyes were fixed on Tish and it was growling, looking like it would have pounced at her from the table if it hadn't have been so injured. "I saw a car knock it down and speed off." She said, "The dog just came out of nowhere." The dog was still trying to go for Tish. "I'm just gonna step out and have a seat." She said, pointing to the reception area they'd just come from, "I don't think she likes me too much." She said, reaching behind her to grab the door handle, pulling it shut behind her as she left before she took a seat in the waiting room, grabbing a magazine and flipping through its pages, listening to the vet and the dog rather than paying any attention to the magazine in her hands.

"Just. Stay. Still!" Tish would have had no problem at all carrying the clearly overweight springer spaniel under usual circumstances, however she wasn't exactly usual what with being a half-vampire that every animal absolutely hated. It had been a bit of a rough day. She'd dropped her house keys down a drain and when she'd summoned them out they'd smelt of faecal matter. She'd tripped over her own two feet on the way up the steps to her local library. She'd got her hair caught in a low hanging branch that she hadn't been paying attention to and now this was happening. She was carrying a hurt and terrified dog into a veterinary clinic after having just witnessed a car knocking it down and speeding off. She had the number plate of the car so she'd track down the driver and give them what for later, but for now there was a dog in pain that needed help. Oh yeah, and it absolutely hated her and had spread mud all over her white coat. Perfect.
Tish was accustomed to animals being wary of her. She was never able to have a pet growing up but she was okay with that, Tish never felt the need to have to pick up another beings poop. "Hello?" She called out, the bell jingling over head as she made her way into the vets, the dog trying to bite her face, Tish just leant back. She was faster than the dog if the dog got too close to actually catching her, "Hello?" She called out again, the door jingling behind her as it closed. She shifted her left arm that was holding up the arse of the large dog to stop it from slipping out of her grasp. Its front was wriggling like hell but its back legs seemed paralysed. She hoped this wasn't a permanent issue for the obese dog because even though it was being a bit of a dick right now, Tish couldn't help but feel sorry for it. It was in a bad situation and it had no idea that Tish was friend not foe, especially considering she'd brought it to a place that smelt of disinfectant every animal that had passed through in the past week, possibly longer. There was a lingering smell of death and Tish wondered when the last time an animal had been put down in this place, or perhaps it was an animal that was just on the edge of passing over. Either way the vets was proving to be a place she'd rather never visit ever again.

Quitting time. It had been another uneventful shift at work, for which Tish was always grateful. Having seen business slow down almost to a halt last year, it was great to see it picking back up, but with more customers came more dramas. The soup wasn’t hot enough, the soup was too hot, the pie wasn’t evenly brown, the fork wasn’t shiny enough, there wasn’t enough sugar in the ice cream. All genuine complaints she’d had over Christmas and New Years. That was all easily managed, she just had to smile, bite her tongue and get replacements, or in the case of the too hot soup, take it back to the kitchen and wait a minute before bringing the exact same bowl out again. Honestly, it was as though some people lacked the all crucial common sense. But that was still preferable to the arguments. Most of them never escalated beyond a bit of voice raising, some, however, did. Those were the ones that Tish had to get involved in, she tried to ease the situation as best she could but sometimes people had to be removed. Despite Tish being stronger than she looked - a lot stronger in fact - there was always another staff member that did the evicting. Katya in particular dominated the scene whenever she got involved. Was the accent? The death stare? The ‘don’t fuck with me I’ve killed before’ vibe? Tish wasn’t sure, but it worked, and people usually did as she told them.
Had the restaurant not been full of love-birds this afternoon and the place decorated to reflect the day, Tish might almost have forgotten it was Valentine’s day. Well probably not. She’d had some of the regular customers ask her a time or two if she had plans, suggesting a pretty girl like her shouldn’t be alone for the day, but Tish just chuckled and waved them off before taking their orders. She didn’t mind so much. The regular customers were sweethearts really, and besides, she always knew that her restaurant family would have her back if she ever needed them. One never-seen-before customer had the audacity to ask her out and grab her arse. Needless to say that when Katya had seen such an action the bloke had been thrown out, head first, and told never to come back. Tish could have handled it but she didn’t say anything, she just thanked Katya and was genuinely glad that she had friends where she worked, although she knew Katya would do that for any staff member, not just her friends.
Since she’d worked the afternoon shift, she wasn’t needed in the evening. She’d volunteered but shifts had already been sorted and swapped around, she just wasn’t needed. She had no plans for the evening. Having few friends left her with few options so it was probably just going to be the same as any other Saturday night. Avoid noise, get home, read a book of some kind. She’d finished her latest one, an interesting little thing about ghosts, the afterlife and what awaits. Tish wasn’t sure what would await her in the afterlife, after all she was half-vampire, but she hoped, despite the mystery, that it would be the same as everyone else. She didn’t wish to become a ghost but maybe that was what happened to people like her. There wasn’t a whole lot known about half-vampires, they were a rare breed indeed.
Tish hit the cobblestones, walking in her work outfit and only a cloak over her shoulders, clasped at the front but her hood was down. It was a measly 3 degrees and there was frost as far as the eye could see. Magic kept the cobblestones from frosting over but if it hadn’t people would be breaking their necks every which way. Tish passed couples huddled up together in warmer clothing than she had on. Luckily the brisk cold didn’t do much to her and her cloak was illusion enough to have people think that she was warm beneath it, which was somewhat true, she would have been fine without it, though. Looking at her watch she saw it was just a little past 4:30pm. It was getting darker meaning sunset was probably less than an hour away. Winter always brought the early sunsets but as they were headed closer to spring it was good to see sunset slowly creeping back to later in the day. As she continued walking, heading towards the Leaky Cauldron end of the Alley, she heard a couple having an argument from behind her. They'd just stepped out of a shop and Tish tried her hardest to distract herself and not eavesdrop but it was near impossible as the couples spat turned ugly and the woman threatened to break up with the man and he dared her to. Tish wished that she'd pulled up her hood so she could just have that little extra anonymity.

11th of February, 1956 - 24 black walnut, dragon heartstring, 8 1/2" |
PERSONALITY Boggart: Her mother being killed in front of her. Mirror of Erised: Tish would see herself meeting her father Patronus: Phoenix - spending time with her mother. She pulls from a lot of happy moments with her mother. They have always been close and there have been low points, but that helps highlight the good parts of life, helps Tish to draw on all the positive.
Tish is usually a pretty calm individual. She's a little on edge at all times, what with her senses pretty much on overload all the time, but she hides it well and gives the illusion of a calming presence. Noises can sometimes be a bit of a bother, such as a plate hitting the floor at work, screaming children etc., but she can managed that with relative ease. Smells, however, can be overwhelming at times, which is why she chooses to work at a restaurant. The smells of delicious food hide, or in the very least distract, from undesirable scents. It's not great pay, but Tish works hard and tips are always greatly appreciated.
You wouldn't know it, but Tish is quite intelligent. She always got straight Os in school, although she had to work hard to learn all that she did, mostly because she would often get distracted by a subject and fall into a rabbit hole where she would seek out as much information as she could find on a subject that intrigued her. She was forever buried in a book or scrawling on parchment at school, now she's working she's often just seen as another waitress that people don't seem to give much thought about, and she likes that. Passing by unnoticed, despite what she is.
Never having been much of a people-person, Tish has preferred the company of books. Being very aware of her bloodline makes her cautious about being around animals. They can sense what she is and instinctively seem to be wary of her. Without being able to spend much time with people or with animals, Tish mostly only socialises with people from work, people she spent a little time with at school, and her mum. She's not close to any of her other family and has no desire to bed. On the bright side, her inability to socialise like a normal human has meant she's not made any enemies, at least not that she's aware of.
When it comes to love Tish has never been brave enough to seek a relationship, instead burying her nose into the aforementioned books. She was once roped in to a game of spin the bottle at a party about a year after graduation, and it gave her her first kiss. Wet, sloppy, drunken. Tish has had no desires to repeat the event and certainly no wishes to go further than that.
HISTORY Mother: Pyxis Oakes nee Potter, 56, Gryffidnor, pureblood Father: Ingram Oakes, 317, vampire Siblings: None Partners: None Others: None
Pyxis Potter was head over heels in love with a tall, dark, and handsome pureblood. He was the heir of a large fortune but she saw beyond all of his riches. Money meant nothing to the young and impressionable Pyxis. They were engaged to be married but as always, life throws a curve ball and things don't always go as planned. It was less than a month until her wedding day when a fair-haired stranger caught her eye. He was dazzling and stupendous. Pyxis was in love the moment that her eyes landed on the blue eyed, blonde haired stranger. Pyxis did nothing until the beautiful man approached her and asked for a dance. Pyxis indulged him, and herself, in one dance, but that was all it took for him to steal her heart, that and his seductive voice and long hair.
Days passed and Pyxis was doomed. She couldn't get the man from the dance out of her mind. He'd been cold to the touch but there something about him that just drew her in. His looks, his smell, his charm, he'd captivated her heart. Pyxis broke off her engagement, not knowing if she'd ever see the blonde stranger again, but she had hope. She went back to the same location every night for two weeks before he showed up again. Their eyes met and that was it, she was done for.
The couple dated for a while, the man she would come to know as Ram Oakes told her what he was. Pyxis was shocked, naturally, but it all kind of made sense, and besides, what did it matter if they were in love? Pyxis married Ram and the two travelled together for years. Pyxis was besotted with Ram, however the novelty of having a mortal wife began to lose its charm to Ram.
Heading back to England Ram bought them a house to live in. Over his lifetime he'd accumulated a fair bit of wealth, although he'd never let on to Pyxis just how much he had, nor how he got his money. They lived happily in the far north of England for a while, although Pyxis was left him for days at a time with Ram off on "business", though what business he would always brush off when Pyxis asked, "Don't worry about it, pet." He would tell her, "Just a few dealings with some old friends, pet, best you don't know too much."
Mid-summer of 1955, Pyxis revealed that she was pregnant. Ram was not as impressed as Pyxis had hoped. He'd been staying away longer, he'd been colder towards her than he'd ever been. They were drifting apart and it was breaking Pyxis's heart. After news of the pregnancy he told her that he knew of ways to get rid of it, that it would only be a danger to her if she continued with the pregnancy. Pyxis didn't believe him - couldn't believe him. They fought, loud and long. It was the first real fight they'd ever had, and the last. Ram took the argument as a way out. He left and never returned. Pyxis was lost and heartbroken, her parents helped support her right up until they found out she was pregnant with a half-breed. They were frightened of what Pyxis's was bringing into the world and wanted nothing to do with it. Pyxis was heartbroken all over again. No one wanted her but worst of all, no one but her wanted her child.
Pyxis got a job for the first time in her life at 32 years of age. She managed to support herself and saved as much as she could. She found the deed to the home was in her name, a piece of parchment with it in Ram's elegant handwriting that said "Pet, I'm sorry. ~ R" and she toyed with the idea of selling the house, but part of her just couldn't do it, just in case Ram decided to return home.
In mid-February, Pyxis gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. The pregnancy had been horrendous but she'd worked all the way through it. The labour had nearly cost Pyxis her life but she was able to keep on. Pyxis promised to protect her little darling, her little Leticia, and so she did.
Leticia, or Tish as she was affectionately nicknamed, grew up close to her mother. She would go to work with her, she would play with her and she learned from her. Her mother would affectionately tell her stories of her father and Tish grew up admiring the man, despite him having never been in her life. She would ask after him from time to time, but she her mother brushed over the subject with ease. She would only talk about him when she wanted, never when Tish wanted. It was something Tish learnt early on, her mother's moods would determine what she would talk about. Her mood swings were unpredictable, but Tish would care for her mother through her difficult times. They relied on one another, they supported one another through everything and when the time came for Tish to leave for Hogwarts, they both had their struggles but Tish adapted well, her mother not so much.
Tish was unaware of her mother's depression, or even what that was, but she knew that her mother was not herself. She would write letters home every day and on the weekends she would write her mother letters that were longer than her essays. Tish was always writing or reading during her school days, even for a Ravenclaw came across as a bit of a nerd. She got on relatively well with the girls in her dorm and the people she was forced to interact with in her year, but she never really attempted to make many friendship. Over the years she noticed that some people would pity her and attempt a friendship. They were happy for as long as they thought they could bring her out of her shell, however once they realised they couldn't change her, they would grow mad and cut off all contact. It never bothered Tish, she was happy on her own, people would come and go from her life, through school and life, but that was fine with Tish, it would hurt for a little while that these people were trying to change her and not be her actual friend, but then she'd move on. Tish liked her little bubble, not that she ever disliked people, but people just could not understand her.
For a few years now, Tish has worked as a waitress. It suits her, she likes the people she works with and she knows that she's not ever expected to be involved with anything. She's forever invited by her friendly co-workers, but they seem to understand better than anyone else that Tish likes her quiet and her own time. Perhaps it's because really, they're more acquaintances, however Tish views them as friends, at least as much as she can.
