Adolph was the second of three sons born to Rabastan and Ninette Lestrange. Their first son, Sedolf, died at the young age of 2 to a disease that required him to be quarantined for nearly 4 months before his passing. This positioned Adolph as the eldest living son and the heir to the Lestrange fortune. He was showered with affection and adoration by the adults of the family, aunties and uncles praising him for doing little more than sitting upright in a chair. He was treated as a king, but his little brother Rudolf come along when Adolph was five, and stolen some of Adolph’s praise. Suddenly there was another Lestrange to praise, the prince of a royal family of wizards. Adolph loathed his younger brother completely.
Time away at Hogwarts did little to ease the hatred between the brothers, and in his third year the Slytherin boy devised a plan to ensure no one but himself would take his rightful place as Lestrange patriarch. Fearing he would one day be forced to share his family's wealth with his little brother, Adolph at the tender age of 13, sneaked out during a Hogsmeade weekend, payed a drifter to side-along apparate him to his family's home where he murdered Rudolf in the dead of night, then returned to Hogsmeade where he then killed the drifter and reclaimed his money. As Adolph had an alibi for his whereabouts while being away at school no one ever discovered the truth about his brother's death, and no one questioned why the only remaining Lestrange boy seemed nonplused by the death of yet another brother.
It had been made clear to Adolph from an early age that he would wed a witch of proper standing and ensure the survival of their bloodline. This, however, did nothing to stop Adolph from fooling around with every witch who would have him, and with pockets as deep as his and a partially-earned confidence that exuded from every orifice, the witches were lining up to slip into Adolph’s bed. Of course, none of that ended when Adolph, now 26, married Ceres Rowle, a homely looking witch of 22 years from a good family. His affairs continued behind closed doors, Adolph having learned to keep up appearances as a younger lad. The couple grew comfortable with each other, and even loved each other in their own way, but tensions were rising as the years passed on without any hope of heir. Adolph was working on plans to rid himself of Ceres, a regrettable fate of course, but one that would have to come to fruition if Adolph was to have a family. The gods seemed to have smiled upon Ceres after so many years of hardship, and only weeks before her plotted murder she announced that she was pregnant with Adolph’s child. The plans were called off immediately.
Rodolphus, named for the brother Adolph had slain as a child, was their Miracle Child. He was given everything he could ever want and no one was permitted to speak a poor word about him, despite the bouts of rage he seemed prone to. A familial trait inherited from his father and, surprisingly, passed on to yet another member of the Lestrange family. Only a year after Rodolphus was born, Ceres announced that she was pregnant yet again, much to Adolph’s chagrin. Rabastan, named for his grandfather, was born two years after his older brother. Certain that his miracle child would befall a violent death at the hands of his youngest son, Adolph forced Ceres to agree that there would bear no more children. Ceres seemed happy enough with the arrangement and Adolph kept a close watch on the brothers until he was certain they would not repeat their father’s history.
The boys proved to be a good pair, though they were certainly a handful. On more than one occasion, Adolph had been forced to dispose of a pet, or in one case a nanny, after the boys’ play had grown too rough. The incidents were never punished and the boys learned that they could always trust their father, which is why it came as no surprise that when Rodolphus found a captivating dark wizard to follow, he promptly spoke to his father about the opportunity. All of the Lestrange men now work for Lord Voldemort, though by day Adolph runs an international corporation, Lestrange Industries; which dominates nearly every market from real estate to pharmaceuticals to clothing distribution and sales.
Rodolphus was married to a witch from a family of good standing, producing only a daughter for an heir. Adolph encouraged his son to rectify the situation but instead, Rodolphus did as he pleased and defied his parents’ wishes, opting for a divorce instead. Adolph was rather disappointed until it came to light that Bellatrix was murdered by Rodolphus’ long-time whore – a plot Adolph assumed was orchestrated by Rodolphus to tie up any loose ends a divorce would have left him with. Adolph still worries over his eldest son’s life choices as he has recently announced his intent to marry said whore, though concerns that Dorcas Meadowes was a bloodtraitor had recently been quashed following her induction into the Death Eaters. Her parentage is still a less than desirable situation, as the Meadowes are devout bloodtraitors and her mother, Emily, was a former lover of Adolph’s from their younger years.
Rabastan, ever the good lad, also married a witch from a prominent family, and less than a year into the marriage have announced that they expect to have an heir by the end of the year. Rabastan had always been less dramatic than his older brother, but as the marriage is still young there is always the chance that Rabastan will fall into his old ways and emulate his brother’s poor choices. Wands crossed that Rabastan has a son and that Lilith keeps her husband’s affection better than Bella had done with Rod. Adolph has no qualms with arranging a murder, should any witch or wizard attempt to disrupt his family’s trajectory, but it would certainly put a damper on the situation if both of his grandchildren were to lose their mothers.
