“Save it for the company Christmas party,” he replied, having swallowed the remainder of his donut and reaching for his mug to wash it down.

"Alright, I'll set that up." Abraxas shoved the rest of his donut in his mouth, much too large of a bite but he had things to be getting on with, "now geh ouh of my 'air." His wife was a lucky lady, to have all this class to herself.

Intrusion into his private office aside, Dorcas had good judgement if these donuts were any indication. “Alright. You and who else?”

Abraxas leaned forward enough to set his coffee mug on the desk in exchange for the papers Dorcas extended to him. He looked them over as she spoke, continuing to stuff his face with donut while he listened. “Ryon, yeah.” He handed the pieces of parchment back to her. “You want me to set a meeting?”

Most of the morning had been spent talking to victim at hospital as well as a few other witnesses about the attack at a Diagon Alley boutique he was investigating. It wasn’t a big case, by any means, but as it was a muggleborn shop owner that had been hit, there were certain Aurors who felt it wasn’t worth following up, so the case was pushed onto his desk. Abraxas didn’t mind. He had several open cases at the moment, having just closed two last week, he had plenty of time for another. Once back in the office, Abraxas had only stepped away from his desk long enough to grap a cup of coffee from the break room but that was evidently enough time for Dorcas to make herself at home. “Did the bin overflow and finally force you out of your own office, then?” he asked without missing a beat. Peering into her box of donuts and picking up a chocolate one with rainbow sprinkles, he then took a seat in the chair in front of his desk where the perps or witnesses usually sat, and kicked his heels up on the desk. He reclined as far as the wooden chair would allow, sipping carefully on his coffee between bites of donuts, waiting for the younger Auror to explain her presence in his office.

PERSONALITY Boggart: His wife, Corona, telling him that Killian is not his son Mirror of Erised: Himself and Corona, playing with their grandchildren Patronus: Labrador - Abraxas' happiest memory was the news that Corona had given birth to a baby boy after years of thinking they would never have a child of their own.
A cross between the class clown and the school jock, Abraxas has always had a big personality. A jokester and prankster, Abraxas never let his humor lean towards cruelty as others did, and in fact, in his older years he has become impossibly infatuated with what the youths are calling “the dad joke”. (He makes sure to call them “the youths” to their face, for added effect.) Always outgoing and unafraid to speak his mind, Abraxas has many friendly acquaintances but only a small handful of well-vetted friends. He is often the center of focus at parties, hosting several a year with his wife, and attending many more in their community. His humor shines at the office at well, though when he is out in the field Abraxas is a true, dedicated Auror.
As a husband, Abraxas has been known to be a romantic. Organizing a moonlit picnic dinner on the beach for Corona’s birthday is pretty standard fair, though he’s not so unimaginative that he’d pin his hopes on the same outing every year and think it would keep the spark of their marriage alive. He is always coming up with fun new ways to prove his love, because in Brax’s eyes, no one deserves more happiness than Corona. She gave up so much to be with him and he tries to never take that for granite. She is his rock and he will always stand by that sediment.
Brax has many enemies, being a devout bloodtraitor and all. He detests the term but has grown to accept it’s use. Of all the injustices to fight against in this world, Abraxas recognizes his privilege as a wealthy, pureblooded wizard. The least troubling slur being spread around their community was hardly “bloodtraitor,” despite what his in-laws and their ilk would believe.
HISTORY Mother: Naihme Vaile (nee Longbottom), 79 years old, Gryffindor alumna pureblood Father: Aiden Vaile, 82 years old, Slytherin alumnus, pureblood Siblings: Atticus Vaile, 37 years old, pureblood Partners: Corona Primrose Vaile (nee Avery), 45 years old, former Charms teacher at Beaubatons, now a home tutor, Ravenclaw alumna, pureblood. Others: Killian Abraxas Vaile , son, pride and joy, Keeper for Puddlemere United, Ravenclaw alumnus, pureblood Augusta Longbottom, maternal aunt, pureblood Frank Longbottom, maternal cousin, pureblood Alice Longbottom, cousin by marriage, pureblood Neville Longbottom, second cousin or something...who knows...he's a chubby baby!, pureblood Ailbe Vaile, paternal uncle, pureblood, deceased Mae Valie, aunt through marriage, pureblood, deceased Richmond Vaile, paternal cousin, pureblood Aurelius Emeric Avery , brother-in-law, pureblood Meredith Avery, sister-in-law, pureblood Annabelle Avery, niece, pureblood Finley Charles Avery , nephew, pureblood
Abraxas was a happy child, full of energy that exhausted his parents. He was always getting into trouble, a curious mind that rarely napped or just let a thought pass without having to interrogate the nearest living thing in order to discover the answer. Brax always enjoyed finding things out, playing detective, and announcing the solution to a mystery he’d made up in his mind. He enjoyed the limelight his enthusiasm afforded him, and was only slightly crushed when, at the ripe old age of 10, he was forced to share the spotlight with a new brother. Atticus was a fussy baby that drew all the adults’ attention away from Abraxas, but by then he had plenty of friends to entertain and in only a year he was headed off to Hogwarts where there would be no cherubic babe stealing all his adoration. Sorted into Gryffindor, Abraxas was eager to be on his own. He had a group of friends that had traveled to school with him and now there were more friends to be had, and Abraxas had them all. He was very popular among the Gryffindor students and the pureblooded students in every House. He made friends easily thanks to his charming personality and quick sense of humor. He joined the Quidditch team in his fourth year, and stuck with it through his sixth year, giving it up in his final year as other players outshone him on the pitch. Brax was a little put off by this, but he got over it quickly enough with the help of a new lady friend. Corona Avery was gorgeous with a personality loud enough to rival Abraxas’. He enjoyed that. She asked him out in his final year, despite being two years below him, and he liked her forwardness. They became a couple not long after and dated for nearly the whole of his final year, keeping in touch via owl after he had graduated and then being sure to see each other over her school holidays. But Abraxas was a man now, and his views were changing now that he was exposed to “the real world.” Studying to become an Auror, he met loads of people he had never before bothered to associate with, and it became clear that there was a divide within the magical community, one which Abraxas had the luxury of being blind to. When Corona graduated, Abraxas proposed. The reaction from her family was disheartening but not unexpected, as Brax had been dealing with similar sorts of ignorances from their friend group. The Averys forbade Corona to marry Abraxas, a bloodtraitor, but to his surprise and delight, she agreed to the marriage anyway. Brax knew the situation was harder on Cor than it had been on him. His parents were rather blasé about the whole thing, not really caring one way or the other, and he had determined a few years ago that any friends looking poorly on him for finding friendships with muggleborns and muggles weren’t really people he wanted to call friends, anyway. For Corona, this was all being thrust upon her relatively suddenly, and he took great care in ensuring she was happy with her choice and not feeling trapped in any way. He was overjoyed to see her walking down the aisle on their wedding day, and is not too ashamed to say he teared up a bit as they exchanged their vows (just before he made a joke about being suspicious that she was only marrying him to cover up some pregnancy she’d failed to mention to him). Following his promotion from the Auror Academy, Abraxas and Corona decided to move to France so that Cor could take a position at Beauxbatons as the Charms professor. Abraxas put in for a transfer and his Auror career really began to take off on French soil where the couple hoped to one day raise their children. They hoped and they hoped and they hoped, and then one day hoping turned to concern and concern turned to worry. Corona spoke with a healer and they were shuttered by the news. They couldn’t have children. Abraxas was crushed. Soul searching led them to the agreement that they could adopt, if need be, but Abraxas would never stop trying for a child of his own flesh and blood. It was fun to try, first of all, and secondly it was expected. Abraxas had a younger brother so the Vaile family name would live on in one way or another but there were expectations of the first born and as progressive as Abraxas was in some regards, he fell prey to the traditions of his ancestors. Miraculously, not long after Cor’s 28th birthday, the couple announced that Corona was pregnant. Killian was born absolutely perfect; ten fingers, ten toes, and two gorgeous green eyes. Corona claimed he was all Abraxas but Brax saw all of Corona in the baby. He was heaven. Their life in France had been spectacular, but now with Killian in the world it only seemed right he should have some sort of extended family. The Averys weren’t too keen on sharing in the joy of their daughter and sister but the Vailes were thrilled with the new addition, gifting Abraxas and Corona the family estate. Atticus even opted to join them, taking on the role of adorable hanger-on uncle for little Killian. Abraxas took up a position with the British Ministry in the Auror Department, comparable to his former position in France, and Corona opted to stay home to raise their son. Life in England was just as perfect as it had been before, even more so with their handsome little addition. Time seemed to fly by over the years, with very few complaints from Abraxas. Killian received his Hogwarts letter and continued to grow up despite his mother’s protests. Corona took on a private charms tutor post, working from the family’s home now that their one and only was off to school. Abraxas had a few major injuries over the years which landed him in hospital but he always bounced back, retelling the stories of how the dark wizards who’d injured him got the best of him, and of course how they all got their comeuppance in the end. Most recently, Killian has graduated from Hogwarts and was drafted to the Puddlemere United quidditch team (of which Abraxas claims to be disappointed that he didn’t get scouted for the Ballycastle Bats despite owning none of their apparel, and recently having invested large quantities of gold in Puddlemere gear). Abraxas is hoping that the next big event in their life is a wedding, as Killian is expected to carry on the Vaile family name as tradition dictates.
