PERSONALITY Boggart: Dragons. It doesn't have to be multiple, just the one would be enough to scare Jax witless. He has no real reason for the fear, except for the fact that they're enormous and breathe fire, and would probably eat you, burn you, or crush you without hesitation. Yeah. Mirror of Erised: Himself settled down with a wife. Not until he's older, but he honestly would love to give up his womanising ways and just stick to the one girl, it just never seems to happen. Girls see him as a good time and nothing more. Patronus: Puma - Jax cannot yet produce a Patronus, though he hopes to learn in his seventh year.
Jax is, on the surface, popular, confident, charming, and a total womaniser. He has been known to use his good looks to his advantage on more than one occasion (AKA all the time), and basically gets by on his face and his charms. He's smart enough to do well in lessons, but he could do with spending a bit more time taking notes, and less time flirting with girls at the back of the classroom. He can't help himself. Kissing girls around every inch of the castle has become somewhat of a sport for him, aside from his Quidditch, which he's pretty good at. And wow, do the girls love it.
He's not a complete sleaze, just a giant flirt. He treats girls well, and with respect, as his mother taught him, but he will wolf whistle at a short skirt. He will also punch another guy in the face for crossing any boundaries with girls if he thinks it's not wanted. Which kind of just makes girls like him even more. It's a gift. He can't help but be highly admirable. Anywho, Jax is a bit of a butterfly. He has few good friends, and then tends to spend the rest of his time flitting between groups of people, never really committing himself to people fully. Most think it's because he's just highly sociable and popular, but really it's because he has trust issues. He doesn't let people in, not really, you might think you know him, but you've only scratched the surface.
The two or three good friends that he really has know that he's a good lad, full of insecurities. He's not clever enough, he's not brave enough, he might fail a lesson, he'll never do as well as his older brother, girls aren't interested in him beyond a couple of snogs. He's brimming with worries, and tries his best every day to bury those fears behind a confident mask so that nobody would ever guess there's anything amiss. Jax is very tough on himself. He knows he's good enough, but the doubt is always there. He tells himself it's just a school thing caused by peer pressure, and that he'll feel more in control in his adult life, but only time will tell. For now, he's happy to play the part of the charmer, the fun stud, the Casanova who absolutely has it all together.
HISTORY Mother: Valerie Montague, 44, pureblood, Hufflepuff Alumna Father: Neil Montague, 50, pureblood, Gryffindor Alumni Siblings: Samuel Montague, 20, pureblood, Ravenclaw Alumni Felicity Montague, 15, pureblood, Hufflepuff student Partners: Many Others: Castor "Cas" Montague, 7, Snowy owl
The middle child of Valerie and Neil Montague, Jax definitely suffered from middle child syndrome from a young age. He wasn't as good as Sammy, but he also wasn't babied, like Flick. He went through a real jealous stage once his baby sister was born, and didn't know how to handle not being the baby any more. He really didn't like Flick much for quite a few years, until he was about five or six, when he realised that if he acted a certain way, he would get more attention. Even though he wasn't as clever as Sam, he would sit and read books in the living room where his parents could see him, and enjoyed being told how proud they were that his reading was coming along so beautifully. He would make lots of friends at the park, or basically everywhere they went, revelling in the praise he got for being such a friendly boy. He would be helpful and basically arse kiss his parents so that they would gush over him, and it worked. He found his place in the family, it just so happened to be quite forced and masked a lot of insecurity. By the time he was school age, Sam was already at Hogwarts, and Jax loved shopping for his school supplies, enjoying picking out his very own owl, and getting a wand, which made him feel very special. The way his parents looked at him as he held his new wand in the middle of Ollivanders was beautiful. And then they told him to work hard at his studies as they kissed him and sent him off on the train, adding in that they expected him to do well like his brother. Well, that did it. He was never going to do as well as Sammy, but now he felt like he had to, or he'd disappoint his parents, and they'd go back to gushing over Sam, babying Flick, and Jax would just be... nothing. He made as many "friends" as he could in his first year, though many of them were just superficial relationships, ones he didn't have any real interest in at all. Somewhere alone the journey, a few genuine friends slipped through the barriers, and he discovered that people could actually like him for who he was, without the popular, charming mask he wore every day. He still wore his mask, but he now had a couple of safe people that he could relax around. He got a lot of attention for being charming, and cute, and then cute turned to handsome, and then to downright gorgeous, and he discovered girls. Well, that was pretty much it for him. He does well at his studies, but not as good as Sam used to, and his real friends give him sanctuary to be himself, but boy, does he enjoy his status as hot Quidditch star and all around school stud and party boy. Even if he does have to be "switched on" most of the time, it's just what he's used to, and he's coming up to his final year, so there's no stopping it now.
