Things were all good yesterday, then the devil took your breath away Miss Vector? Really? So formal. So annoying. Urgh. She waited until she had passed Professor Bones and then slowed until she came to a halt. What could he possibly want her for? Lifting her head, she gave a dramatic roll of her eyes while her back was to him, and then forced herself to turn and face him. Her book remained open in her hands until he asked her if he could have a word in private. She snapped it shut, hoping to convey that he had interrupted her and she wasn't best pleased. She couldn't be rude to him in the middle of the entrance hall, though, so she reigned her annoyance in and forced herself to stay in control. She didn't know why just the mere sight of him sent her into an irrational grump, but it did. She had adored him before he'd started dating her mum. She'd go so far as to say he was her favourite teacher until that day. Funny how the simple threat of someone ousting a loved one out of their role made you change your mind about a person. He couldn't be her father. Nobody would ever be her father. Ever. Nobody. Alvin Vector was irreplaceable. Still, she tried to imagine she was dealing with the old Professor Bones, the one that wasn't banging her mother, the one she liked. "Of course, sir," she said politely, tucking her book underneath her arm and lifting her chin to meet his gaze confidently. She had made her feelings clear over the past year or so, he knew exactly what she thought of his union with her mother, and exactly what she thought of him barging his way into her family. But now there was little Susie to think of, and honestly, Soph loved her baby sister more than she had thought she ever would. The baby deserved a happy family, and Remy, Gus' daughter was actually really cool. She just couldn't shake the feeling of losing her dad all over again, and so the attitude remained, despite the slight shift in her feelings recently. Gus had brought a few good things into her world, but she didn't know if she would ever be able to accept him as anything more than a professor. _______________________ tag: Fergus Jefferson Bones words: 413 notes: <3 outfit: School uniform. template by izzy[googlefont="Dr Sugiyama"][googlefont="Cinzel Decorative"]

Things were all good yesterday, then the devil took your breath away Sophie had opted for soup for dinner. It was easy to eat with one hand and hold a book with the other, and it wouldn't interfere with her studying. The Transfiguration tome wasn't anything important, just a bit of light reading, but she was of the opinion that you could never soak up enough information in your school years. You had to be proactive and take it all seriously otherwise what was the point? She wanted to get a good job when she graduated, she wanted to be in a strong position where any employer would be eager to snatch her up on the spot and give her a brilliant role. Ambitious? Yes. If only she knew what she wanted to do with her life. That was the only flaw in her plans. It just meant that she had to study a broad spectrum of subjects just in case she might need them one day. She was happy to put the hard work in if it meant she would one day secure herself a bright future in some corner of the world. Perhaps she would become Minister one day. Her soup was cold by the time she'd finished chapter fifteen, so she picked up an apple for dessert and left the Hufflepuff table, chapter sixteen open in her hand as she walked. She was tired, but she could manage another chapter before bed. She could have sworn someone called her name at the Ravenclaw table, but she was too far away. Surely she wasn't the only Sophie at the castle, it might not have been one of her friends. She carried on walking, sidestepping here and there to dodge around other students who were coming and going. The doors to the Great Hall were open when she reached them, and she stepped through, pulling her nose out of her book long enough to steal a quick glance at her surroundings, checking for things she might bump into whilst reading. Oh. Him. Feeling like the biggest bitch in the world, but unable to fight the childish whim, Sophie buried her nose back in her book, and attempted to walk right past Professor Bones as though she hadn't seen him. _______________________ tag: Fergus Jefferson Bones words: 401 notes: <3 outfit: School uniform. template by izzy[googlefont="Dr Sugiyama"][googlefont="Cinzel Decorative"]

Things were all good yesterday, then the devil took your breath away Sophie could smell Grammy's cookies baking downstairs, the scent of warm dough wafting through her door, which had been left open just a few inches so that she could hear if anyone called her. Not that anyone would. Everyone was busy. Her grandparents were going about life like nothing had happened, and her mum was busy with a new daughter. It wasn't like Sophie was needed for anything. Only, she knew that was the brat in her talking, and that she was as needed and loved as ever. She couldn't help but feel a bit sour though. Maybe if she'd been given a baby brother it might not feel like she was being replaced so much. Soph was almost an adult now, and when she found out her mum was having another baby, it genuinely felt like it was just to fill the gap that Soph would leave once she flew the nest in a few years. "Just replace me, why don't you" was one of the first things she had snapped when she'd been told about the pregnancy. She hadn't meant it. She never meant it when she snapped at her mum. Her feelings towards Professor Bones, however, were very real. He had gone from being one of her favourite teachers, to the man replacing her dad seemingly overnight. She was so disappointed that her love for her Head of House had been twisted into resentment in the blink of an eye. And now he had a real daughter around to fuss over. They'd even given her a name beginning with 'S'. It was hard to tell herself that her feelings of not being needed anymore were stupid. Soph was a smart girl, she knew better, but she was eager to get back to the castle in September. To get away and focus on school and other things until she felt better about everything. And then there was Susie. Sophie had met her at the hospital, and she had been included and all that, but they were home now. It was weird having a crying, screaming baby in the house, but at the same time, Sophie kind of liked her. When she was quiet, at least. Her stomach rumbled and she put her quill down on her desk, standing up and quietly leaving her room. She followed the scent of baking cookies down the stairs, and peeked into the kitchen. Gram held up two hands, letting her know it would be another ten minutes before they were ready to eat, and Soph sighed and made her way to the living room where she knew her mum would be with the baby. She paused in the doorway and leaned against the wall. Her mum looked exhausted, like she were about to fall asleep with Susie in her arms. Soph didn't like seeing her mum like this. Hazel Vector was one of the strongest women in the world. She was invincible in Sophie's eyes. A superwoman. Not a tired lump in an armchair. She wanted her mum back, but she knew it would take time. It would be a quicker process if Soph helped, so she crossed the room to her beautiful worn out mother, and held out her hands. "Give her to me," she whispered, "You need to have a nap or something. I'll hold her." She'd do anything for her mum. Absolutely anything. _______________________ tag: Hazel Winifred Vector words: 600 notes: <3 outfit: Denim shorts, t-shirt, no shoes. template by izzy[googlefont="Dr Sugiyama"][googlefont="Cinzel Decorative"]

poplar, unicorn hair, 10 inches |
PERSONALITY Boggart: Mirroring her mother's boggart, it would be the death of her mum. No specific cause of death, different every time, but losing her mother after her dad died is her biggest fear. Mirror of Erised: Her dad. Shockingly unrealistic as it may be, she wants nothing more in life than her dad back, and her heart will never yearn for anything as much as that. Patronus: Ox - Sophie cannot produce a Patronus, but if she could, it would take the form of an Ox, and she doesn't know what her happiest thought would be. It would have been her dad, but that's tainted.
If anyone is going to grow up and rule the world, it will be Sophie Vector. Driven isn't the word for it, really. She is so focused, and so confident in herself, that it doesn't even come across as egotistical, it's just fact. She will succeed. She will also kill you with a single look, but that's neither here nor there. Soph is very sensible. She used to be more carefree, but then her dad died, and she sort of went into herself. It took her a while to get her smile back, but during that time she turned a bright, cheerful attitude into a quietly determined one. Her dad was an amazing man, and she needed to represent him by being just as amazing. She carried his name, and she would do him proud.
So she decided that she wanted to be Minister of Magic when she grew up, and right all of the wrongs in the world. It's a tall order, but she is up for the task, and she won't let anyone tell her that she can't do it. She doesn't take any bullshit from anyone. Soph isn't a bitch, but she can be confrontational if the occasion calls for it. She's outspoken, and she won't sit there and keep her mouth shut if she hears or sees something she doesn't agree with. She is a Prefect, and does a fantastic job, being fair but firm with her fellow students when she's performing her duties. She seems to be a kid that carries the weight of the world on her shoulders, and she really does, but she enjoys it in a way.
She likes being the responsible one, the sensible one, the one who gives amazing advice. She's not a party girl at all, and would rather study than do whatever her peers are doing. her friends understand and love her anyway, and everyone else doesn't matter. She's a good daughter, adoring her mum more than anything, and trying to make her proud, too. She is acing all of her classes, bullies won't even look in her direction, and she has become someone younger kids turn to over the years, someone they think can tell them how to fix all their problems. She tries her best, and is pretty great at giving solid, sensible advice. She's a favourite with teachers, but there's one that gets to see a not so great side of her. Professor Bones, her Head of House, has started dating her mum, and Sophie is not at all happy that her mum is trying to replace her dad with Bones. And they're having a baby. Needless to say, her daddy issues are all directed at him lately, and she loses her temper a lot when she's around him, which is going to land her in deep trouble one of these days. Sophie can't help it. It's how she feels and she will always be true to herself, no matter what anyone thinks of it.

Sophie was born on a beautiful spring day, to a gorgeous young couple who hadn't long been married. They adored their daughter, and were perfect examples of hard-working, upstanding citizens, who always made time for Sophie despite working their backsides off to provide for her. She spent a lot of time with her grandparents as a child, and has lovely memories of growing up. She was a happy toddler, always having a bright smile on her little face, though it was never brighter than when she saw her Daddy. Yes, Sophie was a Daddy's girl through and through, and would light up whenever he was around. Her mum got a job at Hogwarts when Sophie was a bit older, and she was put into a muggle primary school, which was actually fun and interesting, and she made some good friends there. She would see her parents during the evenings and weekends, and it was normal. Everyone was busy, but they were happy, until everything went very wrong. Her dad didn't come home one day, and that was the beginning of a very bright Sophie falling down a very dark hole. She wasn't yet Hogwarts age, but she stopped talking to her muggle friends, and went completely into herself. Her absolute idol had died, and he was never coming back. How was she supposed to just carry on as normal? Why wasn't the world ending? She felt like it should. She even thought about maybe doing something to herself so that she could be with him again, but never told anyone about those kinds of thoughts. She spent an entire year being withdrawn, antisocial, uninterested. She went through the motions with her mum and grandparents, but hardly ever smiled any more. Her dad. He was gone. Really gone. She would draw pictures of him and put them up on her bedroom walls, and talk to them at night when she would cry herself to sleep. She would wish on every star for him to come back to her, being too young to understand that wishes didn't come true. Those failed wishes were what eventually turned her around. Her mum went back to work, and it was time for Sophie to go to Hogwarts. None of her wishes for her father's return had come true, none of her wishes for her to feel better had come true, and none of her wishes to make her forget all about her dad had come true. She came to the realisation that wishes weren't real, and if you wanted something to happen, you had to rely on yourself and make it happen. She adopted that attitude on her new Hogwarts journey, and decided that if she couldn't bring him back, she would at the very least try to make him proud and honour her dad's memory. She wanted to help people, others who felt like she did. She didn't want anybody to feel as lost and defeated as she had, and far from deciding that she would become a counsellor, Sophie went one better, and set her sights on becoming Minister for Magic one day. What better position to help people from? She could right all the wrongs in the world, and people wouldn't have to suffer. Hospitals could have better Healers, more staff, so that people like her dad might not die. And that was only the beginning, and all she would have to do was click her fingers and declare it so. Sorted into Hufflepuff, her father's house - she sobbed happy tears for a full week - she went about her new school life with a new attitude. Determined, focused, and an absolute nightmare for anyone who looked at her or her friends in the wrong way, she threw herself into it full throttle and never looked back. She made friends, but she was never the party girl, and would rather study than get tipsy, though she can be persuaded by the right people. She made prefect in her fifth year, and has her sights set on Head Girl one day. Soph gets to be with her mum every day at the castle, and her grandparents live in Hogsmeade, so she gets to spend her Hogsmeade weekends with them instead of causing mayhem around the shops like her peers do. Her mum recently started to date Sophie's Head of House, professor Bones, and though she previously adored him, Sophie is not happy at all that her mum is trying to replace her dad. She's not ready for that, and to make things worse, her mum is pregnant already. A little bit whoreish for Sophie's tastes, but there's nothing she can do about it, and she loves her mum more than anything. She doesn't, however, have to love Professor Bones, but her life is changing dramatically lately and she's clinging on for the ride, despite wanting to scream in protest at the top of her lungs.
