PERSONALITY

Boggart: An empty Gringotts vault. Neve can't think of anything more horrifying than losing all of her money and being poor.
Mirror of Erised: Herself as some sort of fairy queen, with huge sparkling wings and a house made of glitter and clouds. (She really is a dreamer at heart. What is realistic?)
Patronus: Dragonfly - Neve's patronus takes the form of a giant-ass dragonfly, which can be quite off-putting to anyone who sees it, but she thinks it's the most beautiful, ethereal patronus anyone ever had. Her memory of getting her dream job helps her to perform the spell.

Neve is quite a conundrum. She is smart, like smart enough to hold down a pretty good job as an Unspeakable smart. Her ability to understand complex things is impressive, and her job in the Time Room is very taxing on the brain, but she loves it, and impressed Ministry bosses enough that they trusted her with the position in the first place. She also has a pretty great work ethic, and seemingly never runs out of steam when she's on the job. The hard-working Hufflepuff stereotype definitely fits this lady. She is also very ambitious, so getting her dream job was kind of something she wouldn't have let slip by her. She was getting it, and that was that.

On the flip side of the hard-working smarty pants, Neve is the dreamer of all dreamers. She is a bit of a princess in her private life, and though she can switch it off at work and be highly professional, once she's out the Ministry door, she's back to her old ethereal self. She loves anything sparkling or glittering, or with a dreamy element to it. She's very earthy, too, which is reflected in her sense of style a lot. Long dresses, flowy materials, pretty patterns. Anything that makes her feel like a princess will grab her attention, and she absolutely adores having the money to fund such a lifestyle. Money is important to Neve, and she's pretty good at spending it. She can come across as completely shallow and superficial a lot of the time because of this, and it's easy to write her off as a bit dumb. Don't. She's far from it. She just lives in a bit of a dream world and wants to be a fairy queen one day.

Anywayyyyy... Neve loves her family and friends. She's a Death Eater supporter, but only because she wants to live in a world where she doesn't have to hide her magic. That side of the Dark Lord's plight really appeals to the dreamer in her. Imagine being able to show everyone, all of the muggles, how fabulous and magical you are!? That would just be incredible. Aside from that, she doesn't agree with all the killing. She really doesn't like that bit, but she tries to pretend like it's not happening, because if she thinks about it too much, it will shatter her illusions, and she can't be having that.

The second child of Darius and Nina Selwyn was born in the winter. The first day of the year, in fact, and what a wonderful New Years gift! She was a dreamy little thing from a young age, even when her big brother threw toys at her or bit her (he was only a year older and still a baby himself, really), she was never one for having a bad temper or lashing back at him. Neve would just cry for all of ten seconds, and then find something shiny to distract herself with. She was particularly fond of anything that showed her reflection, or sparkled in any way. She was also a fan of flowers, but she didn't try eating them again after her dad told her off for chewing daffodils that time when she was two.

By the time she was three, she had a baby sister of her own, and wasn't that just the ultimate dream! A real doll to play with! Luckily she was quite a gentle creature, because Neve wouldn't leave Selina alone, and was pretty obsessed with her. She was a good sister, like, a reeeally good sister. In her own opinion. When she was seven, she got another sister (woohoo!), but she was a bit more adept with this dolly, but still fussed and obsessed over her. Honestly, it was as though she'd won the lottery. She went from having a brother (who she loved with all her heart) teasing her and winding her up, to having two adorable baby sisters to coo over. Who wouldn't love that!? Neve was easily pleased.

When she was old enough, her letter from Hogwarts came, and Dex had already been there a year by the time Neve started. He was a Slytherin like their dad, but Neve knew there was only one place for her. Her mother's house, Hufflepuff, was where she was placed, and she was happy enough with that, thank you very much. The common room was just incredible, and fuelled her love of earthy things, pretty flowers, and cookies (next to the kitchens, as if she could resist). She made fast friends with her dorm mates, one of them, a gorgeous blonde girl named River, quickly becoming her best friend.

Lessons were fun for Neve. She loved learning new things, and was eager in most lessons save for Defence Against the Dark Arts (she didn't like the thought of hurting other people). She was fascinated by History of Magic, and loved learning about the past. Ancient Runes was a lot easier than her friends made it out to be. Charms was so much fun! And she was top of her class in Herbology, though that was more like a hobby lesson for her, than an actual academic thing. She proved to have an outstanding work ethic, and be very smart indeed for such a fae little thing with her head in the clouds. It turned out she had her feet firmly on the ground at the same time, and was able to study like a demon and get herself some pretty impressive grades.

Of course, she had her sights set on a mysterious job (how dreamy!), and after interviewing extensively for the position, she became an Unspeakable, working in the Time Room (fascinating!), and being unable to tell anyone about what she did down there. Oh, the fabulousness of that! She finds it equally dreamy and intellectually fulfilling, and adores the work that she does there. She has her own house and a gorgeous little kitty named Erela (which means Angel in Hebrew. How amazing!), and was set to become god mother to her best friends child. Everything was perfect. Until it wasn't.

River was killed by Death Eaters, which was a terrible, terrible mistake. Neve believed that You Know Who was fighting for a better world for them all, and she supported the element of it where witches and wizards shouldn't have to hide, and should be able to be who they are without it being some big secret. They were fabulous, why hide that? It wasn't fair. And she just knew that the death of her best friend had been unintentional. It had to be. River was pureblood, they would never have attacked her and Bert on purpose. They were just in the way, in the wrong place at the wrong time. Anyway, that happened, and it's taken Neve a while to get back to normal after such a loss. She mostly focuses on her own family these days. Selina is a Professional Quidditch player (the fame!), and Paige is finishing her final year of school. Dex is a pureblood dreamboat, and the Selwyn's are just doing wonderfully for themselves. Neve is a happy lady all in all.
