Neve pursed her lips as her best friend strode purposefully towards the shimmering door. ”In that case, I don’t think you’re going to notice who’s hot and who’s not in about ten seconds.” Neve smoothed her dress and hair before following Liss, she knew she wouldn’t care one bit about her appearance once she was inside. She caught up to the gorgeous blonde and stepped through the Veil of Euphoria into the Starlight. It was like stepping through a gentle mist, only she was bone dry on the other side, and smiling serenely. Jovi Rowle was drop dead gorgeous, unfortunately for every other girl with their eye on Avery. Neve couldn't see him having a roving eye when he was with someone like Jovi. "But maybe he has some hot friends and we'll get lucky tonight," she added enthusiastically as they approached the Starlight. Neve paused and tugged Lissa to a halt beside her as she stared at the two entrances to the Starlight. One was a regular doorway, with a bit of a queue outside, the other was a sparkling doorway with only a few people passing through it. The Veil of Euphoria over the second door was something Neve avoided more often than not, but tonight she thought it might be fun to pass through it on the way in, add a little sparkle to their night. She glanced at Liss. It took her a minute but she spotted him, tall and gorgeous. And alone. "I can't see anyone with him," she said, eying him up and down. "Share?" She even added a little song and dance, which they seemed to love, some of them joining in with her. Her smile was wide and bright as she twirled in her fairy dress, loving every second of the experience. She stole a few glances at Salem and Jasper to see how they were getting along, but they didn't seem to be as entertaining as she was. Salem was reading quite calmly, and her kids looked interested enough, and Jasper was busy taking pictures with people. It was nice how confident he was, even in a dress. Or was that something she should worry about? Neve kicked her legs up to hog the entire couch, shooing a couple away as they passed, eying up the far end of the couch. "Move along," she said sweetly, fingers flicking them in the other direction as she glanced around the bar for signs of any hot guys that might want to join them tonight. There were a few, but none that caught her eye in a way that made her want to ditch Lissa and dirty her bed sheets later. The book shop was only small, it couldn't hold that many people. She shook her head. "No, there's hardly anybody here," she answered. Besides, he had nothing to worry about, the kids in the shop were already giggling and pointing and looking thrilled at the sight of two new fairies in the room. Neve beamed at them and left Jasper at the craft table. "I'm so happy you're confident enough to do this," she told him. "It's a real turn on." Then Neve turned and headed for her own little corner which had been set up for story telling. She skipped as she went, fairy dress shimmering and swishing just perfectly. Salem wouldn't have given him a dress to wear, that was ridic- oh. It was a dress. But a very pretty one. "Well, that's okay, we can make it work," she said. "Nobody will even notice." She held the dress up to inspect it. It would suit him so well with his colouring. "Come on, I'll help you." She immediately blurted out a load of instructions, which Neve soaked in like a sponge, though she looked like she was merely admiring the flowers on Salem's dress. Multi-tasking was one of her strong suits. People at work often marvelled at the level of work Neve got done when she looked like she was daydreaming, or when she was talking about the dress she bought last Saturday. Her brain tended to split itself in two, one focusing on the job at hand, the other in cloud cuckoo land. She took the bundle of clothing from Salem, excited to put it on, and turned to Jasper. "Do you mind doing the arts and crafts?" she asked. "I don't want to ruin my nails." She wiggled perfectly manicured fingers at Jasper and began to weave through the crowd towards the tiny bathroom they were to change in. She slipped inside with a flirty smile to her date and was in her costume in a flash, re-emerging like a fairy princess. "Tah-dah!"
