There was nowhere to go but everywhere
Placing the silver coins on the bar top, Katya slide them forward with one hand, stuffing her coin purse back into her pocket with the other. “You will get whatever I make you,” she remarked, though a full English breakfast wouldn’t go amiss. After a night of lively entertainment, something hearty would be just the ticket. Grabbing at the handle of her own mug, she raised the beer to her lips and took a drink.

There was nowhere to go but everywhere
He dragged the chair he’d been sitting in back under the table it had apparently come from, making a horrible noise as he did so. Katya winced slightly at the sharp sound. He was not a smooth man, by all accounts, but that was alright. At least he wasn’t offended by her joke. He laughed at her and Katya raised her brows for the second time. “Perhaps not with your silly accent,” she offered, though not even in her native tongue would those two words have been confused. At least he wasn’t dull, thank Merlin. Katya hoped he would be able to hold her interest at least through the sex, she would have been disappointed with herself about having thought about him so often if he couldn’t keep her interested for a few hours at least. He could be as boring as he wanted in the morning, on his own time.
He suggested drinks and Kat nodded. She could go for a beer after a full shift. The Leaky Cauldron was nearby, so they headed that way. Katya felt no need to make small talk on the way there, though she was by no means cold toward him; the December night was cold enough. Running her hand over her hair to loosen the bit of snow and even some leftover flour as she stepped inside, Katya looked around. It wasn’t too dead for a Tuesday afternoon, but thankfully it wasn’t crowded either. Kat headed toward the bar and slid onto one of several open stools, catching the eye of the barkeep with a friendly wave. “Privyet, Tessa. I’ll have a beer, please.” She didn’t know the owner of the Leaky well, but there had been a few drunken nights where she chatted up the brunette before stumbling home. She seemed nice enough to Katya. Kat looked to Pie Bloke for his order, reaching into her pocket for her coin pouch. “First round’s on me.”

There was nowhere to go but everywhere
The rest of Katya’s shift was fairly uneventful. Her sous chef burnt a steak and she scolded him in Russian quite thoroughly despite the man’s inability to speak her language. He seemed to get the point though and was on his game for the rest of the afternoon. No one liked burned food, but they especially didn’t like waiting twice as long for their mid-day meal than they should have, and Katya didn’t appreciate her skills in the kitchen being confused for someone’s of a lesser standard. Half past three rolled around and the gossip-mill began to start back up again. “You gonna find out Pie Bloke’s name tonight?” one of the waitresses asked her. “Why?” Katya replied earnestly. His name made no difference to her, she could shag him regardless of his name and what if he was named something horrible like Axel or Stacy. That would ruin the whole allure he had going, and it wasn’t as if she were planning to stick around long enough to make him a regular in her rotation. “What are you going to call him, then?” the witch asked sincerely. “Pie Bloke,” someone else suggested. “No..” the waitress complained but she was drowned out by laughter.
Four o’clock came and Katya was officially off the clock. She threw her chef’s coat into her locker and grabbed her handbag, throwing the strap over her shoulder. “Proschay, Gerald.” Gerald made kissy faces at her and Katya rolled her eyes loudly at him. Children, the lot of them. Pie Bloke was sitting near the front entrance when she stepped out into the dining room and Katya raised her eyebrows then looked at her watch. He was rather prompt. “It is a little desperate to be so early,” she said as she approached, giving him a teasing smirk. She had been told on a number of occasions that she came off more harshly than she had intended, owing to her thick, foreign accent and blunt tongue. She proudly claimed anyone who couldn’t appreciate her sense of humor deserved to be offended and they could fuck right off.

There was nowhere to go but everywhere
Feed him? Naked? Katya laughed. He certainly didn’t seem to have any shame. She liked that. “Perhaps if you are good boy, I feed you breakfast tomorrow. Naked.” She smirked confidently at him. Katya wasn’t one to play coy, she didn’t wait around for someone else to make a move. If she wanted to shag someone, she’d say as much. If she wanted a date, she asked. Life was short, and he was hot, and there was no send in wasting anyone’s time. Leaning forward, Katya swiped her index finger through the dollop of whipped cream on top of his pie, and smiled before popping her finger into her mouth and sucking the sugary goodness off. Had she not been at work, she might have let Pie Bloke lick it off her finger, but she wasn’t quite ready to get canned. Sticking her hands in a guest’s food was risky enough as it was. “I’m off at four.” She sauntered back toward the kitchen, possibly with a little more swagger in her hips knowing that he was likely looking at her arse as she walked away, and wanting to give him something more to admire.
When she returned to the kitchen the rest of the staff were grinning at her, and slowly Gerald started to clap. “Bravo, good show. Good show!” “Don’t make me fire you, Gerald” she teased, pulling her chef’s coat back on and fastening the buttons. “He better tip well today,” someone remarked and the kitchen burst into a roar of laughter.

There was nowhere to go but everywhere
Life was chaotic all on its own, but this business with the Ministry seemed to only amplify things. Katya tried her best to stay out of all things politics, but too much of her family had aligned with the Dark Lord and she frequently held a sense of dread not only for herself but for her family. Her mum had sent her a letter recently claiming Katya was living with her “head in the sand” and recommended she connect with her cousin Igor, as they were both currently living in the same country. Katya ignored her mother’s well-intended advice and she tried to ignore the chaos filling the beautiful streets of wizarding London, but even she couldn’t avoid the pamphlets that practically rained from the sky demonizing muggles and muggleborns, the posters advocating citizens to turn in their neighbors if they saw anything “suspicious”, or the bright yellow bracelets some of magical folks were forced to wear. Kat found relief in her work. She enjoyed cooking and baking, hell, even cleaning up in the kitchen was sometimes a cathartic experience, depending on how things were going. They employed dishwashers at Almathea’s though, so she generally reserved her pan washing therapy for at home.
They were a week into December and Katya was kicking around the idea of getting out of town. She adored London, the nightlife was amazing and if you ignored the blatant supremacists, the people were amazing too. She’d been here three years, a hell of a long time for the wandering brunette. Was there anything tying her to this place that was worth overlooking the political strife the country was in?
“Pie bloke’s back.” Hazel eyes flashed over her shoulder, her hands continuing their work as she filled a cherry pie on the woodblock countertop. “Are you news announcer now, Gerald?” she asked sarcastically, a little smile flashing quickly across her face. “You know he fancies you.” “Everyone does,” she retorted. She didn’t need to play into the restaurant gossip games the rest of the kitchen staff partook in, but she liked hearing about Pie Bloke. Gerald shrugged and picked up several plates, placing them onto his tray and backing out of the kitchen toward the dining room. Katya peeked through the swinging double doors toward the main room of the restaurant, seeing if she could spot Pie Bloke. A quick smile flashed again as she spied him near the Christmas tree. “Privlekatel'naya svin'ya,” she said to herself as she turned back to her cherry pie and prepared to put the lattice crust on.
Having slipped the pie into the oven and flicked her wand toward the timer, Katya gave another glance toward the dining room. With the doors now shut, she could only see through the circular windows the festive tree near which Pie Bloke was sitting, but not his handsome face. She wiped her hands on a towel and pursed her lips. If she was going to skip town, she might as well have some new kind of fun before she left. Leaving her chef’s coat in the kitchen, Katya slipped through the double doors and casually mentioned taking her break to the sous chef on her way out. Her hair was still up in a messy ponytail and there were flecks of powder in her hair from when one of the bakers dropped a bag of flour in the middle of the kitchen and coated the room with an indoor snow. Kat sidled up to Pie Bloke’s table and rested one hand on the empty chair across from him, the other on her hip. “No compliment for me today?” she said, smirking through the accusation. He always sent his remarks to her via the wait staff though he had only received his pie by the looks of it, and likely hadn’t had the chance yet to flag someone down for a compliment.

There was nowhere to go but everywhere
Only one beer in, Katya wasn’t feeling the effects of the alcohol just yet, but the adrenaline from the crowd was pumping through her, giving her a fun energy. Seeing a friendly face only added to it. Hiro, the bartender, passed her a fresh beer at her new spot at the bar near Mimi and she smiled broadly at him before turning back to Mimi who was debating her options. “They are happy crowd, though!” They really were. Since coming of age, Katya had frequented places like this wherever she travelled. Aside from Stu’s in lower New Jersey on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, Nakamura’s was the best place for a jaunty atmosphere and good spirits. If she were to make a Must Visit list from all the places she’d been around the world, this place would definitely make the top ten. “But, if you need a duet to get you started, I could probably be swayed.” It wouldn’t be a difficult task by any means. She took a swig from her new bottle of beer and nodded her head in the direction of the song book. “Any ideas for songs, then?” Katya preferred rock and roll, something easy to bounce around to that would get your blood pumping but if pressed, she could manage a ballad or even something a little country.

There was nowhere to go but everywhere
If that wasn’t confirmation that the bloke did not speak Russian, Katya didn’t know what was. She’d not been hitting on him in the slightest, and as he seemingly joked about her to Karla, Katya muttered “tupaya zadnitsa” under her breath. Alright, he was being rather cute but also very presumptuous and Katya was not in the mood to be ogled by a man interested in her pies. He was complimentary, both with his eyes that had fallen on her tits and with her words regarding her baked goods. She was pleased with her skills in the kitchen and supposed she couldn’t fault him for trying to be funny, even if he was failing at it. “Spasibo,” she replied, then corrected herself and spoke in English. “I am happy you like my pies.” She raised her brows a little, smirking at the man but otherwise she kept a professional look about her. Smacking a customer with her hand bag and calling him an attractive pervert was not likely to keep her as the head chef. Compliments to the chef were usually delivered via the waiter while she was still in the kitchen, where upon she would ask if the customer was attractive and make a joke about sending the hot ones a little something extra, but it was all in jest and she wasn’t prepared to make the same sort of remarks to an actual customer. Brown-green eyes shifting back to the hostess, Katya tried to make a speedy exit. “Try not to smile at this one when you ring him up, Karla. We do not want him thinking you are flirtovat with him.” She grinned at the hostess then, giving Hottie one last quick glance, she turned toward the door and pushed it open, stepping out into the street. She was ready for a little time to herself, not sure what she would do with the rest of the day off but certain something entertaining would catch her eye.

Okay, where were we? Noelle Emma Fawley & Lyra Ophelia Genevieve Burke -- Excellent friends! Lyra would definitely keep Nelle's secret for her but she might also take advantage, asking for her to look into her future to see how a show might turn out or whether she ought to take a part or pass. She knows it's not 100% accurate but if Nelle got a good feeling about something, Lyra would go for it. I think they're too busy being girly girls to bother with politics talk, so they should be in the clear most of the time. Noelle Emma Fawley & Euphadora Rose Parkinson -- Dora's also friends with Lyra and Liv, so casual friends works perfectly for them. They can hang out in a group and would get on well enough in one on one situations should they come up but its not often. If they cross paths, there's always time for a quick hug and a catch up. Noelle Emma Fawley & Lucian Angelus Marcel Burke -- Noelle Emma Fawley & Amelia Margaret Greengrass -- Amy is a little more outspoken about her beliefs (because she's always right) so I'd say for her to overlook Nelle's political beliefs the needed to become friends when they were young. They had playdates together as girls and always hung out together at Hogwarts for the few years they attended together. Amy definitely looks up to Nelle and her career. Amy would make a snide comment here or there if politics was brought up but she loves Nelle enough to not fully engage in the subject with her. It does worry her, deep down, that it could be a problem in the future but their history together is so long that she's willing to try as long as possible. Noelle Emma Fawley & Narcissa Astrid Malfoy -- Cissa could use a few tougher friends, I'm totally down with this pairing. Noelle Emma Fawley & Oliver Osiris Devereaux -- YES! All the secret keeping. She can mention something about him and Echo to really move things forward. Noelle Emma Fawley & Darcy Eleanor Davies -- Darcy was passing out buttons and pamphlets near her stall and people weren't paying her much mind, so Noelle asked for a button to be nice and made a suggestion of how she could jzeush it up a bit to catch people's attention more. Instant friendship. Noelle Emma Fawley & Sirius Lee Black -- He has a collection of things she's thrown at him. XD Noelle Emma Fawley & Rodolphus Adalrich Lestrange -- Noelle Fawley: giver of blue balls. Lachlan Finnigan Macnair & Amelia Margaret Greengrass -- Amy's a very jealous person by nature and having Jovi and Fin hitting it off so well would definitely make Amy lash out somehow. Things aren't as simple for her in the real world as they had been in Hogwarts, so she might be a bit more of a bitch to her friends from time to time, and that includes hitting on her bestie's ex-boyfriend. She knows all about his *ahem* and would be fine slumming it with a dummy for a bit to make herself feel better, if he's up for it. Lachlan Finnigan Macnair & Darcy Eleanor Davies - Darc isn't one to judge people for something they can't control but she's definitely mentioned to Sera a time or two that Lachy isn't the brightest bulb in the bush. Lachlan Finnigan Macnair & Euphadora Rose Parkinson -- Yeah, these two revert back to children whenever they're around each other, quarreling like it's the most important thing in the world. She sort of misses him because he made her feel smart, but if he's going to hang around with trash, he'll be treated as such. Eris Vivian Johnson & Dorian Michael Humbert -- I love it! That's exactly how their relationship went. They were very cute together and I think they could be good friends now as adults. Eris Vivian Johnson & Oliver Osiris Devereaux -- She's fabulous and Ollie would totally ask for her autograph if they ever met off the pitch. Eris Vivian Johnson & Rodolphus Adalrich Lestrange -- You just get my Roddykins! ❤️❤️❤️ Salem Lyric Rose & Lyra Ophelia Genevieve Burke -- Lyra can work with awkward. She'd try giving Salem lessons on acting to help her out - it clearly didn't work but it was a bonding moment. Lyra is always pulling Salem out with her and when she introduces her to guys it's generally something like "This is Salem. Isn't she gorgeous?! Don't worry, she's not a bitch, just shy." *wink* Beatrice Delilah Greengrass & Amelia Margaret Greengrass -- Amy loves Triss to death but she is thoroughly disappointed in her little sister at the moment. She has so much potential and she's wasting it. Beatrice Delilah Greengrass & Hazel Winifred Vector -- Hazel hates to see anyone struggle, so this is really a perfect relationship for these two. Jasper Ignatius Flint & Euphadora Rose Parkinson -- Jasper's a hottie so Dora totally had a crush on him and might have said as much to Alice. She would definitely recognize him now and do a little innocent flirting and she would leap at the chance to go to a party with him, even just as friends. Jasper Ignatius Flint & Kingston Valisios James -- Everyone loved Paris, it was so annoying but King couldn't hold it against everyone. He's an arrogant snob but he knows when people are charmers and his sister was definitely that. She charmed Jasper and that makes him weak in King's eyes but then everyone is weak compared to him, so it's no big deal. Jasper Ignatius Flint & Rebekah Parkinson -- You're gonna need to explain further because I'm afraid of your brain and that was cryptic AF Jasper Ignatius Flint & Rodolphus Adalrich Lestrange -- Roddy definitely took advantage of Jasper's good nature, especially when they were little. He'd be a better friend now that they're older but he's still Roddy. XD Elena Isabel Greengrass & Rodolphus Adalrich Lestrange -- Roddy would just like to clarify that marriage does not have to equal monogamy. He'll be happy to entertain her when her hubby isn't keeping her interest. Aurora loves taking Miss Greengrass' class and acts every bit the star as Elena thinks she is. Elena Isabel Greengrass & Euphadora Rose Parkinson -- casual friends. Dora likes Elena and gives her a friends discount if she comes into the bar. In exchange, she likes to watch the dad's class. XD Elena Isabel Greengrass & Lyra Ophelia Genevieve Burke -- Oh, I like that! Yes, dance lessons together growing up. If one of Lyra's shows needs a choreographer, she'll go straight to Elena. Elena Isabel Greengrass & Lucian Angelus Marcel Burke -- Family friend, then. She obviously gets invited to any group events that the girls will be invited to. Alec won't be taking dance lessons, but if they have a baby girl, she'll be signed up as soon as she's old enough. Elena Isabel Greengrass & Amelia Margaret Greengrass -- Amy is definitely jealous of her big sister who effortlessly (by all appearances) did well in school, started her own successful business, and is engaged. Amy's still mulling around what she wants to do with her life, she'll need encouragement from her big sis in that regard. Elena Isabel Greengrass & Narcissa Astrid Malfoy -- Yes! Great friends. They are so posh together. Definitely front page of the celebrity rags whenever they go out to lunch. Elena Isabel Greengrass & Sirius Lee Black -- Elena Isabel Greengrass & Kingston Valisios James -- She's an attractive witch and very talented. King feels confident his girls are in good hands in her class, and he attends all of their recitals.

So many plots! *takes a deep breath* *cracks knuckles* Let's do this! Mimette Noelle Winters & Rodolphus Adalrich Lestrange -- He definitely tried it on with her a few times and after the initial disappointment of being somewhat rejected/ignored he decided that he actually quite liked Mim as a person. So now they're basically friends and he still flirts with her because she's hot but he doesn't expect anything to come of it and that's okay. They would be close because of their roles with Lord Voldemort - definitely having private meetings, relaying messages, etc. but how would her jealousy of Bellatrix have affected her relationship with Roddy, if at all? Mimette Noelle Winters & Dorian Michael Humbert -- He definitely likes her as a person, she seems kind and can hold a conversation. He'd offer to take her out for a cup of coffee if their breaks lined up, but I don't see Dorian going out of his way to be close with her outside of work. He'd definitely be friendly at group gatherings and would only have lovely things to say about her when asked, but as he's only just getting back into the whole socializing and having friends gig, I don't think he'd have let himself get to a point with her where she was sitting for Ariel or having one on one hang outs. Maybe more of that just starting to blossom now? Mimette Noelle Winters & Euphadora Rose Parkinson -- "My dog's name is Mimi! You have to meet her!" <--Dora four seconds into chatting with Mimi at the bar. Dora thinks Mimi's cool, she's older and seems to have her life together. After hearing a little more about Mim's family history, it was nice to see someone who was in a similar social standing to Dora still doing well as "a real adult". Mimette Noelle Winters & Rebekah Parkinson -- I would highly recommend Mimi not mention Dora to Beks if she wants to be friends (and vice versa). I'm not sure how they would have met, given their age differences. Their families would have attended similar pureblood functions but at the time Mimi would have been a very young child and Beks would have been in/just graduated from Hogwarts. Mimette Noelle Winters & Kingston Valisios James -- She is definitely preferable to his wife, so yes, ongoing bed buddies. He's gentlemanly enough to not bring Mim back to his home, but that's more for his children's benefit than Odie's. He springs for a nice hotel room whenever they hook up, unless she invites him to her place. Sometimes he'll catch her after a DE meeting but it's always subtle enough that the only person who has any idea would be Voldemort and that's because he can see into their minds (perv!). Mimette Noelle Winters & Katya Karkaroff -- Definitely a no-go on the dark stuff but she'd be down to hang out with Mimi anytime. She seems the fun sort, so she always has an open invitation to join whatever she's got planned. She would have thought Mimi was hitting on her at their first meeting and was definitely into it but that didn't pan out and it's okay. She's still a cool chick and Kat is down to hang whenever. Wilbur Mikhail Dolohov & Katya Karkaroff -- She doesn't remember much about her parents and the Dolohovs when she was younger but when her dad suggested she look them up when she got into town, Katya was pleasantly surprised. Then bummed. He's married and way too old for her but he's nice to look at and she definitely would have accepted his invitation to a few parties. She would have thought a lot of them were a bit stuffy and ducked out early, but it's nice to be included so she'll still attend things from time to time. Quinn Ardan Blackwood & Katya Karkaroff -- Went on the obligatory first date and decided there was no spark there, but they still wanted to meet up for beers the next night and just sort of fell into a really good friendship. Quinn makes the pureblood parties more tolerable but it's still not her jam, unless he introduces her to the less stuffy side of the elite. Wilhelmina Emerald Rayne & Katya Karkaroff -- YASSSSS QUEEN! Apologies to everyone at the karaoke club, but these two hog the mic when they are together. Solos, duets, singing along to other people's songs so loud they might as well be on stage. I love their meet-cute! That's exactly how it happened. Katya meets Helley up at Hogsmeade during the week if she can't get away and they just get pissed in the three broomsticks and then Katya's too drunk to apparate home so Helley volunteer's Hazel's couch. London Nerissa James & Dorian Michael Humbert -- She's been called out on jobs to tend to the victims Dorian's interviewing or rescuing or whatever, enough times that she's a familiar face so he'd be comfortable being a bit more sociable when its him that's getting bandaged up. Definitely need to get these two talking at the BBQ to move things away from a professional-only relationship (which he will not be happy about but feel obligated and love/hate every moment of it). The drama will be even juicier when he starts dating Immy - he'll feel all sorts of conflicted talking about Paris at that point. It'll be so much fun! Julian Astraeus Blackthorne & Katya Karkaroff -- He was a fun shag but she doesn't remember his name. She'd remember his face if she saw it again, and his dick. Raphael Caspian Hookum & Katya Karkaroff -- She totally gave him a chair and a slice of pie to munch on while he waited for the fangirls to bugger off. She suggested he ring her up if he ever needed to hide in the kitchens again, and he could pay her back by buying her a beer sometime. Tessa Nicole Abbott & Noelle Emma Fawley & Katya Karkaroff -- The Leaky was her first stop in town - it's famous, you know. She struck up a conversation with Nelle at the bar and when Tessa joined in it was kismet. Zachary Oscar Zeller & Katya Karkaroff -- He's hot but he'll have to work for it if he wants it to be anything more than a one night stand. Showing up to her restaurant repeatedly would be a good start - she'll accuse him of stalking her, he'll say he's stalking the pie, she'll offer to make him one to fuck at home because he can't be fucking the pies in the restaurant, whoops there's in bed. Again. And again. Don't worry, she makes breakfast. Leonardo Valerio Zabini & Euphadora Rose Parkinson -- #daddyissues Hellooooooo, Mr Zabini ❤️❤️❤️ It'll be fun having them meet while she's so pregnant, and it'll definitely be a point in his favor later on because she feels so unloved at the moment, if he could keep from retching at the sight of her, she's eager for it. Leonardo Valerio Zabini & Dorian Michael Humbert -- Dor definitely needs someone to be frank with him when he's being too much of a recluse. They've had a few spats here and there when Dorian didn't want to hear the truth but it always worked out. Leo can definitely drop by unannounced whenever he wants and Dorian would know he's welcome to the same but would never dream of actually doing such a thing. XD Leonardo Valerio Zabini & Rodolphus Adalrich Lestrange -- Friends in small doses. Good plan there. Roddy likes him but only for so long. Leonardo Valerio Zabini & Lucian Angelus Marcel Burke -- Friendly acquaintances / party friends. Leo might end up at the park with Blaise at the same time as Lucian and Alec. Leonardo Valerio Zabini & Rebekah Parkinson -- Beks will definitely be trying to get back into Dora's good graces once it comes out she's dating a Zabini. She's got galleon signs in her eyes. I'm sure that will go over real well with Leo. Leonardo Valerio Zabini & Kingston Valisios James -- Yes! They need to be friends. They met at a pureblood party some time ago and started chatting, found they got on well. Now they get together regularly to shoot the shit and so King can avoid his wife. Leo is great with the girls, so King brings them by sometimes or invites Leo over and the girls run to him. Its cute. Neve India Selwyn & Dorian Michael Humbert -- It's important to Dorian that Ariel be connected to her parents in every way she can, which means even though it makes him uncomfortable, he'd socialize with her on Ariel's behalf. She's very nice and she's respected around the Ministry, so they get on well when they do interact. Neve India Selwyn & Lyra Ophelia Genevieve Burke -- Actually I imagine they dated for a bit in school. They were well matched for a short time but Lyra needed more attention than Neve afforded her and they broke up. They started hanging out again about a year or so later just as friends, and found they were much better suited for friendship than being girlfriends. Shopping, drinks, dancing, all the fun stuff and yes, Lyra totally gave Neve a few of her most glittery costumes after the show wrapped. Neve India Selwyn & Euphadora Rose Parkinson -- If it was a dress she was gushing over and she's all about the glitter, then Neve definitely attended the Minister's spring gala where Dora was irrefutably the best dressed, most glitter covered witch there. An emerging friendship, for sure. Neve India Selwyn & Lucian Angelus Marcel Burke -- yup - they snogged and it was super weird because of the Lyra factor but it totally happened. Now let us not speak of it again. Neve India Selwyn & Narcissa Astrid Malfoy -- Definitely friends but I see them more as long-distant friends for the last few years simply due to their individual heartaches. Neve lost River and Cissa lost Carina. Over the last several months I feel as though things have settled down enough for them both that they can begin to catch up properly. TO BE CONTINUED... I'm too tired to keep going. XD

There was nowhere to go but everywhere
The hostess had the rest of the week off, as it turned out, and was wishing Katya a happy weekend when her eyes were pulled from Katya to something behind her. Kat turned and found herself looking at an extremely attractive man. The sort who looked like they knew they were attractive and were therefore either a pompous knob or put forth very little effort in the way of wooing a woman. He stared at her tits as he spoke, so Katya pinned him as the latter sort. Katya gave a forced smile and spoke in a thick Russian accent. “Ya delayu vid, chto ne govoryu po-angliyski, chtoby ty ne flirtoval so mnoy. Ya nadeyus', vy ne znayete russkiy yazyk, potomu chto togda ya budu oblazhalsya.” She hoped he didn’t speak Russian, because all she’d said was that she didn’t want him to hit on her. If he could understand her she’d come off as the presumptuous bitch, which she was technically being whether he spoke her language or not. She’d yet to meet anyone here who spoke Russian, aside from her cousin Igor who happened to live in the UK but she didn’t meet up with him all that often. He was nice enough but the two had little in common and there wasn’t a strong bond there.
It was a safe bet that she could blow this guy off with a little play acting. Foreign languages seemed so confusing to some people and it was really rather humorous to watch them try to get out of the conversation if they thought English wouldn’t work. They tended to speak louder, in English mind you, and use a lot of emphatic hand gestures that really didn’t have anything to do with what they were saying. It was a good time in all, but of course Karla, the hostess, was a pretty thing but dumb as a bag of dead cats and had to ruin the game by opening her mouth. “Katya, you’re so silly! You speak English!”
Katya inhaled and her smile tightened, mild annoyance written on her face. “Oh yes, I must have forgotten. Thank you much, Karla.” With a more apologetic expression, she turned back to Hottie. “I’m glad you like my pie.”

There was nowhere to go but everywhere
“I wanna rock and roll all night. And party every day.” The crowd was singing along as Katya belted the lyrics into the mic, her beer bottle raised into the air and her head bobbing along to the beat. The music faded out but Katya’s voice didn’t soften with it. Instead, she put on her best Gene Simmons impression and shouted away from the mic “Thank you London!” sticking her tongue out to mimic the rock star. She took a dramatic bow, keeping her bottle upright as to not waste any beer on the floor of the stage – a mistake she only needed to make once. The crowd clapped loudly, and Katya grinned as she slid the microphone back into its stand and then hopped off the stage with a little bounce.
Weaving her way through the crowd back up to the bar was easy enough. The place was crowded but well organized, with a vibe that Katya really enjoyed. She’d come here often since discovering it, and she made friends with the staff well enough that they all knew each other by name and had a few inside jokes with one another. Hiro had teased her that she ought to take the job of head chef for the Nakamura, who served little more than bar food, and she would wiggle her eyebrows at him and claim they couldn’t afford her. “Can I get another, Hiro?” she asked from the far side of the bar, shaking her nearly empty bottle at him then swigging the remainder. “Mimyette!” A friendly face at the other end of the bar had caught Katya’s eye and she happily shouted the woman’s name in her thick accent, raising her hands into the air excitedly. Leaving her now empty beer bottle on the bar, Katya slid through a few good looking blokes – and a few not-so-good looking ones, and made her way to where Mimi was sitting. “You came! Otlichno!” She leaned into the small space between Mimi and the wizard sitting at the bar next to her. “What are you going to be singing first? Have you decided?”

There was nowhere to go but everywhere
Tuesdays were always busy at lunch. There were clear patterns that emerge throughout the week that one wouldn’t otherwise notice if they didn’t work in the restaurant industry. The weekends were obviously more popular at all times of day, what with people having a few days off work. Even the Friday lunch rush was heavier with wizards and witches skipping out of the office to get their weekend started a little early. Thursdays were incredibly popular in the evenings for some reason that made no sense to Katya – did these people not have to work the next day? Tuesdays and Wednesdays at mid-day were when all the well dressed businesswizards came out for their lunch meetings over beers and cocktails. There were always the regulars, the people who ordered the same thing every week without any hesitation, but there were always new faces too.
Katya threw her chef’s coat in her locker and pulled the hairband from her hair, letting her ponytail fall in a kinked mess around her shoulders. She had to wear her hair up when she cooked, otherwise it got all over the place and she found herself washing sauce out of her hair at the end of the night, and besides it wasn’t very hygienic to have hair in people’s food. Running her fingers through her hair, she mussed it up and tried to work out the little kink where her hair tie had been, then grabbed her handbag and threw the strap over her shoulder. “Proschay, Troy.” She patted the busboy on the shoulder as she passed him by, stepping out from the kitchen into the dining room ready to go home. The hostess smiled at her as she approached, and Katya stopped to say goodbye. "Proschay, Karla. I'm off. Are you working tomorrow? I'm back at nine."

There was nowhere to go but everywhere
The nice thing about working at a restaurant were the hours. Her shifts as the head chef were pretty regular and the restaurant closed at ten which meant she was done by eleven, sometimes earlier, which left plenty of time to go out and have fun. She even was able to get a respectable amount of sleep most nights, even after working a full dinner shift and hitting a pub or billiards club. Tonight, as Katya said farewell to her colleagues, her mind was on one thing; Karaoke. She had mentioned it to a few local friends and extended an open invitation but there were no hard plans made and she would be plenty happy singing on her own and making new friends at the pub should no one else make it out. She did like to chat with people, ask about their life and possibly get an idea of her next big adventure but sadly most of the people she’d spoken with were a little of the dull side. One witch thought her trip to southern England to visit her sister for the weekend was cause for fanfare and another bloke only had a list of bands he’d seen in concert to talk about. Katya enjoyed going to concerts as well but when asked about the most amazing parts of her life thus far, she wouldn’t be talking about the time she saw Deep Purple live.
There were plenty of places that did karaoke around London. Katya had visited several of them and while she always had a pretty good time, the muggle places couldn’t compare to Nakamura’s in Whimsic Alley. Whimsic didn’t get Kat’s money much during the day, it was rather posh and not at all Kat’s speed but at night it was practically a different place. Bars and clubs and strip joints. She’d gone to the Gentleman’s Club a few times with friends and even made friends with some of the dancers. Her favorite place was the dive bar at the end of the alley, Rellik, though the Chinese food place had an excellent habit of staying open late and they had a bar which put Shangri-la in a tight second because it was hard to beat beer and eggrolls. Maybe she’d stop by there on the way home tonight, but more than likely she was going to get an enormous plate of nachos that she had no hope of finishing by herself and have a couple beers while she made eardrums bleed belting out Rock and Roll All Night from the stage.
“Privyet, Hiro! How are you tonight?” Katya greeted the bartender warmly as she stepped inside the building and approached the man. “Can’t complain,” Hiro answered. “How about you?” “I’ll be better after a beer and a song,” she said cheekily before quickly adding “whatever’s coldest.” She wasn’t overly picky about what she drank and she preferred a bottle over a glass simply for the fact that there was a smaller opening through which to spill it. She wasn’t clumsy by any means but she did like to dance and at least once a night her beer would accompany her to the microphone while she was singing, so it was just best to play it safe. Hiro returned with a dark bottle and popped the cap off in front of her before sliding it across the bar. “Thanks,” she said before taking a sip and turning to inspect the crowd. It looked to be a fun bunch tonight. “I’ll be back,” she said to the bartender, taking her beer and hopping off the barstool with a quick wave. “Gonna put my name in.”
She made her way to the corner of the room where a little table was set up like a sort of DJ booth. The MC waved at her and handed her a quill and a slip of parchment to write her song choice on. “You don’t need the book, do you?” he asked, just as he always did. “Does this look like my first dragon fight?” she asked rhetorically and scribbled out the name and artist of the song she wanted. There were already several people ahead of her and when the MC called her name she’d already started on a second beer. Since her friends hadn’t shown up to keep watch over her drink, her fresh bottle made it’s musical debut for a little KISS number.

Living Room The main floor of the flat acts as a combination living room and dining room. Trinkets from Katya's adventures are scattered around as decor, and a stack of well-worn trunks rests under the steel stairs, ready to be packed up and used whenever the mood strikes. A wall of floor to ceiling windows allows for plenty of natural light, and acts as the entrance to an enclosed patio space. Kitchen Separated by a half wall that acts as a bar counter when friends come to visit, the galley style kitchen is small but organized. Katya loves to cook but sometimes after a full day working in the restaurant, take away is a much needed relief. Loft Bedroom Overlooking the lounge, Katya's loft bedroom is just up the industrial steel stairs. A simple room, the bedroom is comfortable and inviting with plenty of natural light and easy access to the bathroom. Bathroom The only fully-enclosed room of the flat, the bathroom is finished with subway tiles, chrome fixtures, and a claw foot tub. Just off the bedroom, guests have to trek upstairs if the need use of the loo.
