She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
Dora sat in the now drained bathtub, her naked body still wet and creating a shiver as the cool air hit her skin. Her face was red and puffy, tear stained despite having had water splashed on her face multiple times. The scars on her thighs were barely visible to her anymore, hidden by an enormously stretched stomach she had sworn would never adorn her figure. It was absurd, crying in the bath of the brand new home her best friend had graciously gifted to her. Fin was beyond supportive of her in her current condition and she loved him tremendously for always taking care of her. So why was she sobbing? What was so horrendously wrong in her life that she could sit in a large manor all her own, impeccably decorated by her own design, and not find the energy to pull herself from the tub several minutes after the last of the water had run down the drain?
The baby kicked. She could feel it wiggling around even before she saw the grotesque blimp that was her once perfect stomach stretch outward where the baby’s foot pressed from the inside. More tears streamed down her cheeks as she stared at herself. How long had it been since she’d had a proper drink? How long since she could catch a man’s eye from the other end of the bar and keep his attention once he came close enough to inspect her figure? Nearly all of her vices had been removed from her life and yet the haunting thoughts had not waned. If anything, the social rejection her pregnant belly was creating was only increasing the negative self-talk she had engaged in ever since she was child. She was worthless, unlovable, and now completely useless to anyone who mattered.
The doorbell chimed and Dora’s head snapped up. “Shit.” What time was it? How long had she been sitting her fat arse in the tub when she was supposed to have been getting ready? Everything seemed to take so much longer to accomplish these days but stopping mid-way through her morning routine for a sulk and little heavenly cutting certainly didn’t keep her on track. Pulling herself from the tub at a much slower pace than she felt she should have been able to, Dora set her feet on the cool tile of her en suite bathroom. She grabbed her robe – which hardly fit around her belly – and threw it around her as she made her way to her bedroom window and pushed it open. Looking down to the front steps, she saw the top of her friend’s head. “I’m just getting dressed. Its unlocked,” she shouted unceremoniously down to the witch and her infant child.
Turning and heading toward her wardrobe, Dora shrugged off her robe, letting it fall to the floor. Her collection of dresses was extensive but there were so many unusable items in front of her at the moment. Thankfully, Clem had given her some of her old maternity wear so that Dora didn’t have need of too much shopping when she ought to be saving up to buy necessities for motherhood like a cot, a pram, and whatever else she was going to be needing. That was the point of her lunch with Clementine today, to spend some much needed time around her beautiful little Alexander and to prepare herself for the last few months of this wretched rollercoaster of emotions. Stretching a shimmery silver dress over her humongous belly and avoiding her reflection in the full-length mirror, Dora returned to her bathroom to fix her hair and her makeup with a few quick vanity charms, hiding away any evidence of what she’d been up to earlier. Her appearance was much more tolerable in the bathroom mirror, most of the weight from the pregnancy being solely in her breasts and her stomach. In fact, from behind one wouldn’t even suspect that her stomach had grown so large, and perhaps that was part of the disappointment in the blokes’ faces as they approached her in public. There had been no inkling from their perspective that they were flirting with a whale until it was too late and they had to hurriedly think of an excuse to leave suddenly. Men were such dicks but she could hardly blame them for turning tail and running from her. She felt as disgusting as she looked, and Dora tried her best to make up for it with a cheery smile as she headed downstairs to greet Clementine and Baby Alexander. She could hear Mimosa downstairs barking happily at their company and she imagined Mimi would be equally as excited to meet Dora’s own baby one day soon enough.

Everyone had made motherhood sound so impossibly bad. Clem was finding herself well rested and doing well through the post-pregnancy hormone haze. Sure she was still forgetting a few things here and there and she still wasn't as quick thinking as she had been pre-pregnancy, but all that would lift eventually, right? Right. That was what she kept telling herself because honestly, things were going so wonderfully that they had to just keep on going so well. Lucian was a wonder, ever day he did his part in their son's life. Every day he found a little time for her too and she'd been told not to expect anything at all from her husband! It was going exceedingly well for the couple. They worked almost in sync with one another and Clem was able to bathe, get dressed, sort out her hair and makeup, feed the baby, get him changed and dressed to go out all while fielding owls from work and arranging play dates for baby Alexander, not that he was aware of anything beyond his reach at this point. Right now all he ever did was sleep and eat and she wasn't even sure he realised he was born.
Taking the carriage to Dora's was swift and safe. Alexander barely made a peep and before she knew it they were outside of Dora's new place. Clem couldn't help but notice how very similar it was to the place Dora's parents had once owned, before Dora's mother had to sell it once she'd lost her husband and son. How terrifying really. Poor Rebekah, and poor Dora for that matter. Clem was so pleased to still have her parents and her siblings, to have a wonderful husband, a beautiful son and never to have to worry about her financial needs. She had some of her own gold saved away, mainly from working at the ministry. She'd never really needed the gold her job paid, her parents were well off enough to support her and her now husband was even more well off meaning she didn't actually have to work at all really, but she would return to it soon enough, she wanted to play an active role once more in the war that was slowly ticking on, day by day by day.
Turning her head up at the sound of a voice calling day Clem smiled and let herself in to Dora's place. Her yappy little dog came running up, nails clicking against the hardwood floorboards. She was fast and full of energy, barking away. "Shh, Mimi, shhh!" She scolded the dog, waving her hand trying to shoo it. Alexander started to stir a little, grizzling in his sleep at the loud noise the dog was making, "Let the little one sleep, puppy." She told it, not really having any idea how smart Dora's dog was. Stepping to the side of the pram, Clem reached down and pulled out her little bundle. She walked, bounced and shh'ed to keep her baby from waking, exploring the house a little for herself as she kept her baby sleeping, Mimi no longer barking gleefully at their arrival, thank Morgana!

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
Clem would be a bright spot in a day that Dora couldn’t figure out why it was so dreary. The weather itself was fine but Dora’s mood was lower than it had been in quite some time and she found herself sobbing for no apparent reason much more frequently than she was used to. A few random bouts of melancholy were usual fare for Dora but this was utterly ridiculous, not that she would discuss it openly with anyone save maybe Fin. Probably not even him, though she would pop over unannounced and sulk in his presence, but that could hardly be deemed a discussion. After a rocky morning, playing with Clem’s little baby boy would certainly be a highlight and when she’d planned this visit a few days ago in better spirits she had actually been excited to talk with Clem, knowing she would have only glowing things to say about motherhood. In the cold grey present day, Dora was certain Clem would warn her against having a child of her own and it was already far too late for her to do anything about it at this point. With a fake smile, Dora descended the stairs and followed the sounds of footsteps to find her friend.
“Let me see that little boy,” Dora cooed, coming up to the new mum and her precious little bundle. “He’s getting big,” she remarked, though in honesty Alec was a tiny thing still. “Can I hold him?” She didn’t know why Fin had made such a big stink about her former flat not being large enough for her, Mimi, and the baby. Clem could leave Baby Alexander on the armchair and still have room to sit on the seat beside him. Truly she was overjoyed at her new home, and the fact that Fin had gone out of his way not only to buy her the most expensive gift he’d ever given her – luxurious holidays included – but to have also found something so reminiscent of her beloved childhood home was beyond comprehension. She wished she could have the energy all the time to remind herself of that feeling of being loved so much that your friend buys you a sodding house but it was harder and harder to remember, so she faked it. Quite well, she thought. No one had said anything to her about it but then for someone to speak about it they’d have to care enough about her to care that she down, and she rarely remembered that, too.

Clem bounced around the ground floor of the house, shushing Alexander to keep him asleep. Dora's home was beautiful and so perfect for her. She was going to raise her son or daughter in a wonderful home and Clem would be visiting practically all the time! The whole idea that her son and Dora's child would be at school with one another was exciting! Sure Clem and Dora didn't know who the father was, but Dora claimed he was pureblooded and Clem had no reason to doubt that. She had nothing but an honest, and slightly hilarious, friendship with Dora, and she'd be pleased for Alec to grow up with baby Parkinson as a life long friend, perhaps even more if Dora had a little girl!
Dora's voice came up from behind and Clem turned her head and smiled at Dora. Alec was still sound asleep in her arms. Clem beamed down at Alec, enjoying Dora's little coo over her baby. He was an absolute angel, he really was, and Dora was right, he had gotten big. Every time she looked down at him he seemed to grow. Clem had seen an eight month old baby only a couple of weeks ago and she couldn't imagine Alec being that size in such a short space or time. The baby had been huge to Clem but apparently she was average size. Clem thought there must have been some kind of mistake but according to her mother babies did grow far too fast, which Clem wasn't looking forward to, she rather loved her little boy being her little baby boy.
"Of course you can!" She said quietly, shifting Alec in her arms and passing him over to Dora as smoothly as she could manage. "I can't believe how fast he's growing." She stated, sighing at the end. Her baby would be a grown man someday and Clem hoped to enjoy watching him grow but at the same time she wanted him to stay teeny tiny for just a little while longer. "Your home is magnificent, Dora." She told the witch, although Dora was probably more than aware! "Fancy giving me a tour?" She asked with cheeky grin, looking forward to having a good snoop in Dora's home and seeing what she had set up. Dora had impeccable tastes, that Clem was a little jealous of, and it was sure to show in her very own home.

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
The morose bulge that was formerly her gorgeous, flat stomach actually made for a nice little shelf that assisted her in cradling the little baby. The pregnancy had engorged her breasts as well as her stomach and ankles, and while most of the time having large boobs for the first time in her life was the only positive thing to come out of her condition thus far, at the moment they were making Dora feel awkward about holding Alec. Or perhaps she just wasn’t the sort to ever be comfortable holding an infant. Would this be how she felt trying to coddle her own little bundle? Yes, probably. Uncomfortable and awkward, with only a small smidge of heart melting warmth as Alexander yawned and wiggled gently in his blankets.
Pulling her eyes off the blond little blob in her arms, Dora smiled brightly as her new home was complimented. “It is, isn’t it?” Magnificent had been the word Dora herself had used when Fin first showed it off to her. She’d been so elated that day and she talked nonstop with Fin about all of her brand new plans for her life in this gorgeous home. Trying to summon something akin to that same level of excitement, Dora nodded. “Of course!”
Checking her hold on the baby in her arms, Dora gestured with her head toward the lounge and headed off to start her little tour. “My purple room,” she simpered, stepping into the well-sized sitting room. The walls were draped in a deep purple fabric and the furniture was ornate yet plush. “I want to get sofa to go there,” she said, adjusting the sleeping bub to free up just enough of her left hand that she could point to an empty space opposite two purple armchairs. “I have some catalogs coming in the post, and I’m hoping to find something that fits well. If not, you and Baby Alec may have to join me on a shopping trip.” She was just blowing smoke at this point. If she couldn’t find something to order from a catalog she would have Fin take her shopping, in case her tastes outweighed her pathetic Gringotts vault, which was very likely. She was going to save loads of money not paying rent for her little flat every month but that gold was earmarked for the next several months to furnishing the still empty room where her child would sleep soundly all through the night. “That’s daddy and Theon up there.” Her partially free hand now gestured to the matching urns on the mantle over the fireplace where her father’s and brother’s ashes were kept. “I think they approve the house. Daddy would have loved it.” Her tone became a little more airy as she spoke of her deceased family fondly, disregarding how absent her father had been most of her life.

Clem thought the home was just perfect for Dora and her little bub, whenever he or she would make their way into the world. Clem was grateful that she had Lucian to help out and that they had supportive family that wanted to help with the baby by spending time holding and rocking him to sleep, buying numerous gifts and simply showering their baby in love. Two uncles and four aunts, both sets of grandparents and a house elf. The baby was loved and adored already and Clem had found adjusting to parenthood rather easy but she knew it was because of the support she had, she had no idea how Dora would manage as a single mother, no siblings to gush over the new addition to the family, a heartless mother, a dead father, no house elf, no funds for a nanny and most significantly - no partner. Clem had no idea how Dora was going to cope doing it alone. She'd offer as much support as she could but there was no telling how well she could help Dora out, how often she could visit, she would still have Alec to care for so visits wouldn't be as often as she liked but she would certainly make an effort and she hoped Dora would still pop around to hers, whether invited or not.
Making their way to Dora's Purple Room, Clem took it all in. The large mirror was perfectly Dora and the urns were totally creepy but completely Dora's business. She spoke of her father like they had a loving relationship but everyone under the sun was aware that Dora's parents could be considered absentee at best, abusive at worst. Clem just thought they were total dicks but as it was, nobody ever said anything, you just went about your business ignoring the business of others until it became your business. "You're going to have this place absolutely perfect in no time!" Clem grinned. "And that purple is just beautiful." Dora had spectacular taste and it was going to show. "You're not expecting too much of yourself, are you?" She asked wanting to make sure that Dora wasn't pushing herself too hard, she was pregnant and had just moved home, there was such a thing as doing too much, Clem knew from experience, only she had Lucian to worry about her and slow her down, the best that Dora had was Fin and he was more than likely oblivious to a pregnant woman's needs and abilities.

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
Green eyes scanned the room, a happy expression on her face. She was feeling a little brighter with all the compliments about her good taste. Clem was always good for that. A warm baby in her arms didn’t hurt much, she supposed, but Alex was really an afterthought. Had he not felt so uncomfortable in her arms, she would have forgotten he was even there, he was so quiet. That was a good sign. Dora didn’t want a noisy baby, she already had Mimi who barked a bit when company came over or when the squirrels were teasing her from the trees. “I think this will be a nice spot for reading,” she said of the windowed corner where one of the two chairs was positioned. “Lots of natural light.” It was a lovely spot, though she rather enjoyed the little set up she had going in the attic, too.
Clementine asked if she was extending herself too far, and Dora shook her head immediately, not even allowing herself to mull over the question. “Oh please. Decorating is hardly a chore. If someone would pay me to do it, I’d quit the Starlight in an instant.” Dora waved off her friend’s concern as she headed back out into the hallway and towards the dining room. “I expect to do plenty of entertaining in here,” she said softly, stepping into the hunter green room and adjusting Alex in her arms again. He was getting heavy and she couldn’t imagine holding him all day as some women she’d seen doing with their babies. “Fin will be doing the cooking, of course, unless you’re in the mood for inedible swill.”
Looking to the large built-in cabinets on the long wall which were empty, Dora explained. “My gran had some lovely china that I think would look absolutely stunning in there, if I could ever get the shrew to part with it.” Her mother, whom she’d not spoken to since before she became pregnant, had been rather difficult about allowing Dora to have anything of value, her family’s ashes included. The urns on the mantle of the sitting room were mostly empty, save for a small amount of ashes just enough to fill up a small vial each. Dora didn’t care, it was her brother and father and whatever bit of them she could keep with her she would cherish. The family heirlooms, however, would likely not pass on to her until Rebekah died. Many times over the years Dora had wished it had been her father that had been mysteriously released by their captor, her mum left to starve to death in a shipping container at the docks. Everything could have been different then, but fate had decided Heath was too good for this world and he was taken from it, Theon too, leaving only the wretched Parkinson women. Dora inhaled and turned, looking at another wall where a bar cart stood, empty save for a bottle of Fin’s favorite liquor.
The tour continued, Dora showing off the kitchen which would see lots of failed attempts at cooking over the upcoming years, and perhaps a few successes whenever someone more capable offered to cook for her. The back patio was a lovely place to hand baby Alec back to his mummy as he started fussy and Dora looked visibly flustered as his face reddened and he wailed. They sat outside for a moment with a pitcher of lemonade, allowing the child to settle and to watch Mimi run around the garden before they continued on roaming around the house, heading upstairs to take a peak at the bedrooms. “I’ve no idea what to do with this one,” she said, coming into an empty white room. It was a completely blank slate. She didn’t have so much as a cot yet, but the bones were good. Two large windows sat catty corner to each other, free of curtains or shades or anything to keep the late winter sun out. There was a little alcove separated by a nice arch with a built-in bookshelf tucked out of the way, and on the opposite wall was a large, empty wardrobe. “The rest of the place was easy as pie but I honestly have no idea what to do with a nursery.” She looked to Clementine hopefully.

Clem happily followed Dora to another room while her friend told her of all her visions for her new home. Clem admired Dora's optimism, it was uplifting and made Clem happy to know that her friend was doing well. Pregnancy was a hectic time. All those hormones were intense. You never really thought they were affecting you until you did something outrageous, like cry over a run in a pair of tights you weren't even wearing, or feeling sick at the mention of anything with eggs as the main. Clem had had what she'd considered a relatively smooth, easy pregnancy, but looking back she could certainly see more now of how the hormones had affected her then rather than when she was in those moments. "You should run your own little business. I've always thought you'd make an excellent party planner or something of the like. You have a flare for wonder and sparkle that could make even the sourest of wealthy old bitches smile." She grinned, "And dildos in every party bag, I'm sure." She smirked.
Clem very much enjoyed being taken on Dora's little vision of what she hoped her home would be. Clem had no idea if the witch would ever get herself her grandma's plates and what have you, but if she didn't then perhaps in the meantime Clem could gift her something, just so it wasn't empty and so Dora wouldn't feel like a part of her was missing every time she looked upon the empty shelving. Dora put on such a strong front but Clem was aware she was more fragile under the surface than she'd ever willingly admit and that was okay, Clem would allow her friend her pride.
Clem took Alec back into her own arms when he began to fuss and then began to holler. She shh'd and patted him until he settled back to sleep and then moved around the house, the chatter of them women and the movement of the walking helping him drift off into a deeper sleep once the'd left the fresh air of Dora's patio. As they went up the stairs Clem thought Alec was going to wake again but the precious little babe stayed asleep and Dora showed Clem around, stopping at an empty room that was a lovely size. "Such an incredible space though, Dor!" She commented, "So much potential. Decorate it and then colour it when the baby arrives, lots of pink for a Princess and powder blue for a little Prince!" Clem walked around the space, getting just over half way into the room and turning about, looking up and absolutely everywhere the she could. "Cot, comfy rocking chair, bassinet, rug, bookcase." She sighed, happily imagining what could be, "You're going to have this place looking incredible in no time." Clem knew Dora was going to do an absolutely spectacular job of decorating this room, if anything this was going to be the room she outdid herself on because Dora lived to show off, it was just in her razzle dazzle nature, and Clem for one would gladly see Dora gloat at what a superb job she'd do on the nursery room.

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
Clementine’s enthusiasm was unwarranted, at least the mood Dora was in was telling her so. She smiled and chatted in a seemingly happy state but really all Dora could think about as she toured Clem around her home was how empty it all was. Not just the house, but her life. What was even the point of it all anymore? Fake friends offering fake compliments, rubbing their own perfect lives in her face. She’d been holding Alec the same way Clem held him now, but the child had fussed and cried until Dora had given him away. Resting quietly in his mummy’s arms now, the babe seemed to be taunting her with his peacefulness. She hated herself for feeling this way and in a day or two she would surely see the day’s events in another light but she was too far into it now to see the forest for the trees. Instead, she smiled convincingly enough and conjured a piece of parchment and quill, jotting down everything Clementine suggested for the still bare nursery. “A cot and a bassinet? Will I really need both? They’re practically the same thing, aren’t they?” Dora truly had no idea. Beyond looking at clothes and baby shoes, she’d really not done much shopping for the child at all. She was frightened on where to even begin but she was running short on time to prepare, and on gold to buy it all. She’d planned to save the money she’d spent previously on rent for preparing for the baby, and in a way she had done so. A few new maternity outfits, a couple handbags and pairs of heels to match. She was carrying the baby so anything she wore comfortably was for the baby, too, she reasoned in the moment. Thankfully she’d not spent it all and she could afford to purchase all the things Clem suggested before her due date but it seemed rather a hassle, especially if a cot and a bassinet were both just a fancy bed the child couldn’t roll out of in his sleep.

A cot and a bassinet? Well it wasn't necessary if you couldn't afford it, but Dora would be able to afford it, even if it was gifted to her. Clem would buy her a bassinet if need be, she wanted this little Prince or Princess well looked after because he or she was going to be little Alec's playmate! They would grow up together, be in Slytherin together and have just a wonderful childhood. Perhaps one day, if Dora had a daughter, they'd get married and have a family of their own, although Clem doubted they'd be so fortunate as to have children that fall in love, but it didn't matter, love would just be an extra bonus, what was important was that these children were going to be a chance for Clem to keep Dora in her life. She'd noticed already that her childless friends that had been so excited for her pregnancy and had promised to visit as soon as the baby was born, had barely seen him. Clem had the urge to smash their faces into the nearest wall but in order to do that they'd have to come visit or give her a good time to go visit them.
"Of course! You can have the bassinet anywhere in the house then, set baby down in whatever room you're in and when it's not in use just set it in the corner," Clem moved over to her right, "Just here." She smiled and sighted. It was lovely having a baby - tiring, but lovely. "There's so much potential in here," She said, looking about the room and then over to Dora again. "I can't wait to see it all done up. Pink for a girl and blue for a boy?" She asked wondering if Dora would stick to the more traditional colours or if she'd go with something new and different. Clem was certain that if Dora had a daughter then there would be pink absolutely everywhere and for a boy it was anyone's guess, perhaps she'd go with a nice turquoise or gold and grey of some kind. Either way Dora would have it absolutely stunning once she knew what she was going to go with.

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
Having a place to easily set the baby down wherever she was did sound like a nice perk, and if she couldn’t afford the bassinet on her own, surely Fin would help her out just a little bit more. He always spoiled her, and were Dora in the position to do so, she would spoil him right back. She was already making plans for how to properly thank him for the tremendous gift that was her new home, but that would have to wait until she wasn’t carrying around a sodding beach ball in her belly. She could just set the baby down in his or her little bassinet in the corner, invite a few girlfriends over, and thank Fin all night long. What were friends for, if not for hiding dildos around one’s home or organizing a thank you orgy?
“Perhaps a touch of gold, as well, if it’s a girl. And silver and blue would look smashing.” With Clem’s help, she was beginning to see the potential of this barren space for the first time. Decorating the rest of the home had been no hassle at all, she’d been glad for it, but every time she had attempted the nursery she drew a blank. On her better days she reasoned it was because she didn’t know the sex and she most certainly would not be having one of those dull gender-neutral green or yellow nurseries. But that was only on the good days. On the bad days, the days becoming more frequent the rounder her belly grew, she knew the real reason she couldn’t decorate the baby’s room. The baby wouldn’t love Dora the way she would love it, if she could love it at all. She wasn’t worthy of anyone’s love, least of all a child’s. She would be as distant as her own mother was to her even without trying. She couldn’t even get Baby Alec to quiet down. Clem was such a better mummy than Dora would ever be, everyone knew that, but having her friend’s positivity around her was beginning to make Dora feel the inciest bit better. “When did you have Alec’s nursery done?” she asked hopefully. If Clem had put things off too, then perhaps these feelings were natural.

Dora's little nursery room was going to look positively beautiful for the little baby! Boy or girl it would be exceptional. The blues and silvers were an excellent choice, Clem and Lucian had gone through many theme ideas for their nursery for Alec but she'd really loved blue and white. It felt so crisp and clean while remaining toned down. Clem and Lucian liked that. They had plenty of money behind them and yet they chose a smaller home, a manor that rather understated compared to those around them. Clem and Loosh both believed in the value of hard work and perhaps that was why they seemed to get on so well with one another. They were really rather well matched, in Clem's opinion, he was certainly someone she could see coming to love in her life time, especially when she looked at him with Alec. He was a spectacular father. She hoped things would carry on as they were, although she was ready for any sorts of changes. They hadn't even been married a year as of yet so and they'd already made their families proud by having an heir, but there was no telling what life with Lucian would be like once they were settled down and out of that honeymoon phase everyone spoke of. One thing was certain, they both wanted another child as soon as she was ready. She wanted to give Alec a little play mate and as soon as possible. She'd had Evie growing up and Loosh had had his stuck up sister that he was close to. Ideally Clem wanted another son and then to be done having children, although Loosh seemed to want more he knew where she stood on the matter. If they had a girl next then she'd happily try once more but after a third she would most certainly be finished. Loosh came from a large family but Clem didn't want that for herself.
Dora asked about Alec's room and Clem had it prepared relatively early on, although she did go through a couple of styles. The settled on a design they liked and waited until the baby had been born before changing the beiges of the room to blue for their little Prince. "Pretty early, but it took me a while to settle on a design for certain. We picked something that would work for a boy or a girl and added colour with a quick spell after Alec joined us!" She beamed cheerfully. "We had like a beautiful lavender picked out if we were going to have a girl." Clem was definitely feminine but she wasn't big on having pink absolutely everywhere, different shades of purple suited her moods better, she felt, and if they'd had girl then she didn't want Loosh to feel uncomfortable being surrounded by all things pink. Dor didn't have to worry about that at least.

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
Pretty early. The phrase was like daggers in Dora’s chest as her friend tried in vain to make her feel as though she wasn’t a complete loss for having done absolutely nothing to prepare her child’s bedroom by this point in her pregnancy. Clem had everything situated and only needed a teensy spell to add a bit of color when the time came. The woman were stood in a barren wasteland of a room, not a piece of furniture in sight, and Dora was due come June. “I guess I had better get on with it then, hadn’t I?” A thin smile stretched across her lips and she nodded, trying to hide the fears that had been plaguing her. “I’ve some cots earmarked in a few catalogs downstairs, if you want to have a look after lunch. I’ve not even glanced at a rocking chair or rug, yet. And we’ve already covered my complete lack of knowledge of bassinets… I’ll need looking at those, as well. Bollocks, who knew babies were such work?” She caught herself and covered her mouth, eyes wide. “Sorry, love. Don’t say bollocks.” She leaned in toward Alec and gave him a boop on the nose.

Clem wasn't sure what she could really do to help Dora feel at ease. It was true, she needed to get a move on for preparing for her baby, but it wasn't a whole lot of work, Clem would happily help her out or loan her the her house elf for a while so she had some extra magic about the place to help organise things, and the house elf was pretty good with organising things. Her and Lucian's house elf was pretty good at arranging a room, Clem supposed it came from cleaning them so often and needing to navigate them a lot. Clem didn't really think much on where things should go in a room but she though Dora would be the best for that sort of thing. "He'll be a good boy." She said, grinning at her son, "A proper gentleman, just like his daddy." And Loosh was quite the gentleman, at least that was all Clem had ever seen of him. He was a gem of a husband and she'd been very lucky indeed that they got on so well and that they'd fallen pregnant so quickly after getting married and that they'd had a son first go. It was all rather perfect for their lives. "I cannot wait to see what you've picked out," She said, heading out of the stark nursery, "Please tell me you're having a baby shower," She told Dora, "You'll get most of your baby stuff at that, so hold off on buying anything just yet." She said with a wink, knowing Fin would go all out, even if he might not get an invite, and Clem would certainly pitch in half the nursery and wardrobe, if not more.

She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
Dora pulled the door shut behind them as they left the empty nursery and stepped into the more polished looking hallway. The entire rest of the house was furnished and looked lived in – not messy, and not yet complete, but warm and inviting. Aside from the pile of child-related catalogs on the end table on the ground floor, it was practically impossible to tell that a child was soon to be living in the tiny manor.
The idea of a baby shower was so obvious now that Clem mentioned it, and Dora felt foolish for not having considered it as a means of helping her sort out what she needed and where it would come from. “I honestly hadn’t thought of it,” she confessed. “I’ve been so busy with the house and all… I suppose I ought to. It would be ever so helpful.” She held the railing as she stepped down the stairs and turned toward the kitchen. She had been shopping the night before in preparation of her friend’s visit, and while Dora held no accomplishments in the kitchen, she’d been able to put together a little spread of finger sandwiches and a cheese platter. Nothing that required cooking or baking, two things she was sure the ruin if given the opportunity and pressure of entertaining, but enough that she could feel like a real hostess. The idea cheered the sullen brunette as she gained a little perk in her step.
“Am I to organize those sorts of things or should I make Fin handle it?” She waved the idea off as she opened her refrigerator and began pulling out the trays she had prepared the night before. “No, I should do it. He’s rubbish with party planning -” Hands full with a tray of little star shaped sandwiches, Dora shut the fridge door with a bump from her hip. “- At least compared to me.”
