Who's Your Daddy? Fin had cooked earlier, and now the entirety of the Sunday lunch he had slaved over was waiting patiently to be served as soon as all of his guests were here. It was all magically heated, of course, nobody would be eating cold food that had started to go stale, Fin's father would be in attendance, and that meant he had to get everything right or listen to an evening of criticism and bitching. He was looking forward to tonight, when he could ditch his family and go and get drunk at his very own club, without spending a penny, and forget about how much he hated them all. He didn't think it was possible to forget such a strong, overwhelming feeling, but he would try. Unless Dora wanted him to hang out with her later, but he didn't see any reason why he still couldn't get drunk. She was pregnant, not ill, she could come with him and drink lemonade if she wanted company, otherwise he'd make sure she got home alright after dinner, and then ditch her for some fun. His doorbell rang and he knew it wouldn't be Dora, she wouldn't be early. No, there was only one person he knew who liked to be early everywhere they went. First there to either arse kiss his superiors, or just to show that he was better than everyone else. Or in this case, probably so he would have a bit of time to snoop around Fin's house before it was time to eat, and pick apart his furniture choices or decor, or the soap in his bloody bathrooms or something pathetic. Fin took a deep breath, cricked his neck, and left the kitchen with a stony expression. His hand hesitated for half a second on the front door as he wondered if he could just apparate away and leave them on the doorstep, but he pulled himself together and opened the door, finding three good looking brunette's on his doorstep. Aurelius stood in the middle, flanked by two women, one looking not much older than the other. Fin's mother stepped forward first, her hair not moving an inch as she leaned forward to kiss his cheek. "Finley, darling, you look handsome as ever," she fussed, stroking his face with a hand that should have belonged to someone twenty years younger than her. She flounced past him into the house, and Fin's sister came next, giving him a look that told him she didn't want to be here any more than he did. At least they had that in common, their mutual dislike of being around each other. Like her mother - who could have passed for her sister - she was dressed impeccably, but Fin didn't bother to offer any compliments. The red of Annabelle's dress would match perfectly with her blood if he decided to murder her today. That might be just the pick me up he needed after getting through dinner with this lot. "Fin," Annabelle snaked past him after her one worded greeting, and he gave a tight smile. "Nice to see you, too, sister." His blue eyes lifted to face the last person he had to greet, and he met the steely gaze of Aurelius Avery with as much backbone as he could muster. "Thank you for coming, dad." Every word felt like poison on his tongue. _______________________ tag: Aurelius Emeric Avery and Euphadora Rose Parkinson words: 585 outfit: Something smart. notes: <3 template by izzy [googlefont="Allura"]

Who's Your Daddy? Aurelius smoothed his hair in the mirror in the hall, his wife, Meredith, coming up behind him and planting a kiss on his cheek, the imprint of her pink lips left behind on his skin. He turned to face her, sapphire eyes roving up and down her curves, which were wrapped in a pale pink dress that clung in all the right places. She was younger than him, but it was never enough for her, and she worked hard to look as stunning as she did. Aurelius appreciated it greatly, and he always made sure to make a fuss of Meri and make her feel as fabulous as she was, and she more than returned the favour, stroking his ego at every opportunity. They were a perfect match, as far as he was concerned, and as he pulled her in to kiss her, he thought that he would never tire of her, no matter how long they had been together. "Be kind to Finley tonight, won't you," she requested as they got their coats, ready to leave. "You know I hate arguments, they give me terrible frown lines."Aurelius merely grunted in response. He would not and could not commit to holding his temper when his son was involved. The lad knew just how to get under Auri's skin, and the arrogance he possessed would always need knocking down a peg or two. Buying a nightclub, moving to Ireland, still not married, engaged, or even dating. It was embarrassing, and Aurelius would remind his son every chance he got, that he was not doing his best by the Avery name. Why Finley wanted to shame their family by behaving in such a way was beyond Aurelius, and he wondered if Finley was even his son at all, because he certainly didn't fall in line with his father like all of the other heirs did. He couldn't really deny the lad though, since they looked so alike; tall, dark hair, the same blue eyes, dashing smile, good style. It was just that attitude that needed fixing. Auri had been trying since Fin was a boy, doing everything he could to try and discipline him and keep him in line, but he was determined to go his own way. It was distressing, to say the least. Well, Auri was Minister now, for a while, anyway, and Finley would have to make a much bigger effort now that their family were under public scrutiny. He looped Meri's hand beneath his arm, and they disapparated together, landing with a pop outside of Finley's ridiculous mansion, if you could even call it a mansion. It was more like a giant log cabin, and surrounded by rivers and lakes. So uncouth, and it cost far too much money for something lacking class and sophistication. Shaking his head at the sight of it, Auri crossed the gateway, entering the drive where his beautiful daughter was waiting. "Annabelle, you're early," Auri said, bursting with pride at his daughter following in his footsteps. She was a delight, she really was, and he embraced her warmly, pulling her to his other side and walking both women up to the front door. Finley took far too long to answer and let them inside, and Auri let the women in first, waiting patiently in the autumn chill as his son greeted him. "I see you still refuse to keep house elves," he said as he stepped inside and took off his coat, handing it to his son, his wife and daughter doing the same. He made some effort, and closed the door behind him while Finley was buried under coats. He made his way into one of the living areas, running his hand along the back of a chair, inspecting everything in the room with a judgemental eye. "Is dinner ready?" he asked, voice carrying out to the hall. "I'm starved." Why Finley insisted on shunning house elves was beyond Auri, it was the silliest thing he had ever heard. Being scared of a little servant. Pathetic. The one good thing that came from it was that his son had turned out to be quite a good cook over the years, and that was one thing Aurelius couldn't criticise, though he would try. There were many elements to a Sunday lunch that could be less than perfect. There would be something that would give him an opening to press the house elf issue again. _______________________ tag: Euphadora Rose Parkinson and Finley Charles Avery words: 772 outfit: Smart casual. She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
She’d gotten up early to make sure there was time for Mimi to have an extra long walk before being locked up in the flat for most of the day. Normally Dora would have simply brought Mimosa with her to Fin’s house. The little dog accompanied Dora almost everywhere except work and when she was meeting up with Kit, who Mimi disliked for some odd reason. Disliked was a gentler term for Mimi’s feelings toward the handsome Auror but by keeping the dog home it saved Dora from seemingly endless nights of spiraling panic that always led to the same result; Dora cutting herself on the bathroom floor and Kit thinking poorly of her for owning such an ill-behaved pet. Morgana only knew what he would think when he found out that Dora was pregnant. She’d already had a dream in which Kit asked her to marry him, wanting to raise the baby as his own and Dora knew him well enough to know nothing of the sort would ever happen like that. He wasn’t interested in her like that and now that she was pregnant she doubted she could change his mind. Of all her male friends, Kit was the only one Dora had ever really wanted anything more from, besides a couple rounds between the sheets which was standard fare for any friend not named Fin. She assumed that was why Mimi disliked him so, she could sense Dora’s crush and mistook the energy or something. It was strange and confusing, and it cost Mimi the opportunity to spend more time with Kit but Mimi was always welcomed with Fin.
Fin was used to the pup accompany Dora everywhere by now and Mimi even had her own little set of dishes at his house because she was obviously welcomed to join anytime her mummy visited. It certainly had nothing at all to do with the fact that Fin was a prissy little witch who didn’t like the idea of a dog licking a plate that he’d later be eating off of, even if the plate had been washed thoroughly. Today, however, Fin needed no extra paws running around to worry about. There was going to be a full house as it was, because even though his family consisted of only three people, Fin excluded, managing their big personalities was like herding blast-ended skrewts. Dora agreed to stand in as a bit of a buffer, hoping to be able to redirect any inappropriate conversations about Aurelius’ completely incorrect belief that Fin was somehow not up to par. Fin was bloody perfect and his father was a tit. A handsome tit, but a tit nonetheless.
There were plans for Dora to arrive early because Fin’s father was always early and being a good friend, Dora wanted to minimize the length of time her bestie would have to be exposed to thinly veiled insults about his lifestyle, work, and romantic life. She had truly attempted to speed up the process of getting ready, she’d even laid out an outfit the night before but putting on the pink dress in the daylight made Dora looked washed out. She had to change. Her hair would be simple enough, she wasn’t planning to curl it today. She would simply wear it straight, a little fluff to give it some body but nothing time consuming until she was met with a stubborn lock of hair that wanted to be defiant and make her run late. By the time Dora fixed her lipstick and disapparated from her flat, she was no longer going to be early. Shooting for on time was now the goal.
Fin’s large mansion was literally like a second home for Dora. She had lived with him for more than a year while saving up for a place of her own, and she still felt at ease simply walking in whenever she wanted. Grabbing hold of the knob, Dora began to turn it but she stopped. Internally arguing with herself, she wasn’t sure that letting herself in in front of the Averys would be the best way to start their lunch off. Every action had to be weighed against Daddy Avery’s disapproval, and in the end she decided to wait and allow Fin to invite her in like a proper guest. She rang the doorbell and waited on the porch, her hands smoothing over any perceived wrinkles in the front of her olive-colored dress.

Who's Your Daddy? And so it began. As soon as his dad had opened his mouth, the criticism had just spewed right out, and in such a predictable manner that Fin could have written the script for the whole evening himself. Next it would be asking if things were cooked properly. Then it would be something about the new chair in the living room and whether it was made by muggles - of course it wasn't! There'd be something about him not having a date for the night. Probably a snippet of kissing Anna's arse, because she was as holy as Morgana and needed to be worshipped for doing absolutely shite all with her miserable life, other than looking like a doll and being a professional bitch. Fin as fuming already, and his dad had only just stepped through the door. This is what they did to him, made him angry and anxious and stressed within seconds. No wonder he had moved so far away and stopped seeing them as often. They were a nightmare, and he wished he could be rid of them for good, but that was never going to happen, especially since his dad had somehow pulled a miracle out of his arse and managed to become the temporary Minister of Magic. What the actual fuckety fuck was that about!? The Dark Lord had lost his fucking mind! He was stewing under an increasing pile of coats, still in the hallway by the front door while his mother and sister used him as a coat rack. His dad was asking about food, and he tried to peer over the top of the pile, his mother's real fur cloak making it near impossible for him to see, and it stuffed up his nose, making him pull a face. "No, we have another guest coming," he said, though his words were muffled. It would have been a good opportunity to call them all bastards and worse while they couldn't understand a word he was saying, but he passed up on it just to be on the safe side. His father tended to have selective hearing and would only pick up on the negative things his son said, rather than the positive. The positive stuff tended to go in one ear and straight out the other, or get ignored completely. He couldn't even get his wand from his pocket to help him with the blasted coats, so he shuffled to the cupboard under the stairs and managed to use his elbow to get it open, hearing the doorbell ring as he wrestled with the small door. "I'll get it," he called, hearing his dad's footsteps on the wooden floor as Aurelius headed for the front door without hesitation. "I'll get... it... fuck." He dumped the coats in a crumpled heap inside the cupboard and ran for the door as his father ripped it open as though it was his own home. _______________________ tag: Aurelius Emeric Avery and Euphadora Rose Parkinson words: 511 outfit: Something smart. notes: <3 template by izzy [googlefont="Allura"]

Who's Your Daddy? Finley was pissing about in the hall with the coats, and Aurelius couldn't understand a word he was saying, but he thought he caught something about more guests coming. Why hadn't he mentioned this earlier? It was rude to spring surprises on a dinner party like that, and Finley had been raised better than that. Aurelius didn't know what kind of people he was mixing with over here in leprechaun land, but they were obviously lacking manners of any kind, and it pissed him off no end to think of the hard work he had put into raising his son being undone by a load of rambunctious pixies. It was unacceptable, but he couldn't really do anything about it. Finley was an adult now, and this was his home, so he could run it as he saw fit, but he certainly wouldn't be getting Auri's approval any time soon. Annoyed by the thought of random people turning up for dinner, he gave his wife a look that told her he wasn't happy, and she immediately swept to his side. "Darling, it's probably just a friend. It might even be a girlfriend," she said, eyes lighting up at the thought. "Has he mentioned any girls to you?" Aurelius shook his head, taking his wife's hand and gripping it tight as she tried to smooth his shirt out to soothe him, but only managed to irritate him with her fussing. "No, it's not likely to be anyone respectable, is it. He's gone off the rails." His face was dark as he spoke, voice clipped, but he didn't want to be in such a foul mood so early. They had a whole dinner to sit through yet, he needed to control his temper if he could. There was no chance of that just yet, because the doorbell rang, and before he could even think about it his feet were stomping across the room towards the hall. Finley was still fussing with coats like a house elf, and so Aurelius took it upon himself to see who would be joining them. It wasn't as though he could hold himself back, he just had to know. He grabbed the door handle and tugged it open, standing tall as his gaze dropped lower and lower until it fell upon Euphadora Parkinson, looking like a little slut on the doorstep. Fitting. "Euphadora," he said, tone lacking any warmth as he heard Finley rushing to the door behind him. "How delightful." He stepped back, allowing her to come inside and trying his best not to snarl at her. Fin's little obsession with this girl was beyond bizarre and shameful to say the least. She hung around a well to do pureblood lad just to try and keep her claws into pureblood society, and Finley allowed her to. He was a fool, and Auri hated it. Hangers on were a burden on good families like theirs, and she was a parasite, sucking his son dry. "Euphadora, you look lovely!" Meredith's voice sounded behind him, and Aurelius swept from the room, leaving his wife to make a fuss of the urchin. _______________________ tag: Euphadora Rose Parkinson and Finley Charles Avery words: 551 outfit: Smart casual. She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
The door opened and Dora’s easy smile tightened as she saw that it was not Fin who had answered the door, but his father. He was an attractive man, even at his age, and it bode well for Fin’s good looks that his father still had a full head of hair and the defined lines around his eyes and brow only seemed to make him look more distinguished the older he got. If only he smiled more. Real smiles, not the forced one he was giving her as he called her by her full name (such a mouthful!) in a monotonous tone that held no warmth in it. “Hello, Mr Avery,” she said, trying a charming smile on for him as he stepped backwards into the mansion and allowed her to enter. Mummy Avery was much more approachable and she cooed properly over the effort Dora had put into her appearance for the occasion. “Mrs Avery, its so lovely to see you.” Dora pulled her winter cloak off, a formality as she was wearing her patented warming charm that kept her looking fresh and cozy in short dresses all year long. Cloak in hand, Dora gave Fin’s mum a hug, catching Fin’s eye and mouthing “oh my Godric” at him as she gestured to her face, implying his mum had once again had some noticeable spellwork done. The woman looked hardly older than Dora, despite being a good twenty years her senior. Dora was a fan of beauty charms as well, but there was a limit. Looking younger than your own daughter seemed a creepy line to cross but Meredith seemed unperturbed by it. "You look amazing, yourself. This dress is stunning." Flattery went a long way with Meredith Avery.
Releasing the motherly hug Dora had unknowingly been looking forward to, she strolled over to Fin and raised herself up to give him a peck on the cheek in greeting. “Sorry I’m late,” she whispered, knowing that she actually wasn’t. The Averys were just expectedly early. Dora turned gracefully and headed toward the cloak cupboard, to hang hers up, noting two ladies’ cloaks crumpled on the floor. She hung hers on a wooden hanger, then pulled one fur lined cloak after the other and set them each to hanging properly. If Aurelius saw them as he was leaving, that would be just one more thing for him to nag Fin about, and Dora’s entire purpose here was to negative as much of that negativity as possible. She was doing a banger job of it, judging by the man’s warm greeting. “Is your sister here?” she asked Fin, looking around but not seeing Anna in the entry.

Who's Your Daddy? He got to the door just in time to hear his father's blatantly unenthusiastic greeting to Dora, almost crashing into his dad's shoulder he'd been moving so fast to get there first. It was too late now, the atmosphere around his father had soured considerably, and he cringed to himself. He gave no shits whether his dad was happy or not with Dora's presence, she was here to support Fin, and he wanted her there no matter what. It would be easier to take the crap if he had someone to make him smile in between. His mother would try, she was lovely to him, but she was far more interested in herself and her appearance to ever be fully present in any of their conversations. If there was anything even slightly reflective near her, she would be checking herself in it, and what she had to say was mostly superficial anyway. Meredith Avery couldn't hold a deep conversation to save her life, Fin definitely got his brains from his dad. He worried that he got everything else from him, too, but he liked to think he wasn't quite that much of a dick. Dora was swept up by his mother, who fussed around her like a butterfly. "Oh, thank you, darling. I just threw this old thing on last minute. I feel entirely underdressed." She was entirely overdressed. Fin flashed Dora a look of exasperation behind his mother's back, and watched her disappear after her husband, no doubt wanting a round of compliments to make her feel better about her appearance. Aurelius would give it, Fin didn't doubt that, he kissed her arse like a pro most of the time because he knew he had it good with her. She was a catch. A complete airhead, but a catch. "Ha. Late," Fin rolled his eyes at Dora, appreciating her efforts to fix up the mess he had made of the cloaks. "She's probably upstairs putting rabbit shit in my beds or something," he said, the life draining out of him already. He'd locked his own bedroom door with many a complicated spell so they wouldn't get in there, but the rest were all open and just waiting to be snooped around. At least they weren't staying the night. "You have to help me get dinner on the table, I want them out of here as soon as possible," he hissed, heading for the kitchen, wand at the ready. _______________________ tag: Aurelius Emeric Avery and Euphadora Rose Parkinson words: 433 outfit: Something smart. notes: <3 template by izzy [googlefont="Allura"]

Who's Your Daddy? Aurelius stalked into the living room - one of them, Finley had a few, and Auri though it ridiculous that one young man needed so much space, it was a sheer waste of money - and through a door on the other side, finding himself in the library. It was smaller in here, and made him feel calmer, his gaze focusing on the titles of books on the shelves. It kept him distracted from being annoyed that his son was a willing victim of a little leech like Dora Parkinson. He had given Finley a deadline to find a girl and settle down, and that deadline was quickly approaching. He had five months left until his birthday. What if he got desperate and decided that Parkinson would do in a pinch? The thought horrified Auri no end, and he wondered if he was pushing the boy too hard to marry. He had to be hard on Finley, it was the only way to keep him in line, but he was the kind of lad who would act in a rash manner if he thought it was his only option. His fist pressed to his lips as he imagined his son announcing his engagement to Euphadora. "Over my dead body," he muttered darkly, knowing he was winding himself up but unable to help it. "Auri, darling, does this dress make me look drab?" Meredith came into the library looking worried, and he turned and grabbed her roughly, kissing her with a fire fuelled by his self inflicted anger. She responded eagerly, taking his kiss as reassurance that she was far from drab. He pulled away after a minute or two, gasping for breath. "Why does he test me, Meredith?" he breathed, his forehead resting on hers. "He's just finding his feet. He'll do you proud, you'll see." She sounded so confident, but he wondered if she'd given it any real thought at all. She had gotten so good at telling him what he wanted to hear that it was hard to tell. The scent of lamb and potatoes wafted into the room, and he glanced at the door. "Maybe he brought Euphadora to serve us for the night," he said with an amused smile as he led his wife back through the house towards the dining room. "Dinner certainly seems to be moving along now she's here."_______________________ tag: Euphadora Rose Parkinson and Finley Charles Avery words: 424 outfit: Smart casual. I dunno. She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
Pink painted lips curled in disgust at the idea of Anna handling rabbit dung. Even if Fin was joking darkly, which had only slimmer chance at being the case over Anna actually being a bit of a cunt and messing with her germ-sensitive brother, the mental picture of such an act made Dora queasy. It wasn’t uncommon at the moment. Since even before Dora had discovered she was pregnant she’d been having the most unbearable morning sickness. A stupid name for something that afflicted her at all hours of the day and night, not simply in the morning. She’d been to a healer to confirm what the home test had already told her, and the healer had explained that the nausea would likely last all throughout her first trimester, possibly longer. Dora didn’t think she could keep up with all the sick, and thankfully was given a potion to help soothe her sensitive stomach but it didn’t stop the unwell feelings completely, just minimized them. She was pleased that she remembered to take her potion before leaving her flat, because a whole meal with the Averys would likely involve several stomach churning instances and the last thing she wanted was to get sick in front of anyone, least of all Fin’s family.
Dora nodded as she smoothed her dress out, brushing her hands lightly over her stomach then followed Fin into the kitchen. The smells of a lovely meal hit her the moment she stepped into the kitchen, but unlike many other scents she’d encountered recently, this one was not at all offensive. “Smells wonderful,” she commented, bending over and lifting the skirt of her dress to withdraw her wand that was kept pressed against her thigh with a pretty lace garter. “Daddy A won’t be able to find anything wrong with the food, that’s for certain.” She gave Fin a playful smack on the bum as she began levitating the dishes to their proper place in the dining room.

Who's Your Daddy? With a smack on the arse from his best friend, Fin set to loading up the dining table with food, and by the time his parents and sister emerged from snooping around his house, he and Dora had everything ready. He'd chosen the smaller dining area for today, since it was closer to the kitchen, and the table was round, but everything fitted on it nicely. His perfectionist streak was satisfied, plus he wouldn't have the clean up job of the proper dining room, which would be a huge pain in the backside. He could see his father's face sour just upon entering the room, but Fin ignored it and turned to his sister instead. "You're next to me, try not to choke," he said with a dark look as he pointed her to her seat. "Mother," he held his arm out for his mum to take and led her to an empty chair. "Right here next to Dora," he pulled the chair out for her and nodded to his dad, patting the chair beside Meredith's. "Dad."He rounded the table and took his own seat sandwiched between Anna and Dora, and with a flick of his wand he set the dishes full of food to serving themselves. Spoons carefully deposited vegetables onto the plates, and potatoes were neatly stacked beside them. The lamb carved itself beautifully and floated into place on each plate, and drinks poured themselves without spilling a drop. Whiskey for his father, wine for his mother and sister, he wasn't sure what Dora's glass was filled with but it would surely be something boring now that she knew she was pregnant. His own glass had water in it, all the better to keep a clear head in trying company, and he sipped it as he waited for the food to finish serving itself, placing his glass down carefully, blue eyes slowly raising to settle on his father, who was still standing behind his chair, a look of irritation on his face. What now? Everything was perfect, what could his dad possibly come up with to complain about? Was his chair not wide enough for his huge ego? Fin tried not to look annoyed and arranged his face into what he hoped passed for curiosity as he looked up at his father. _______________________ tag: Aurelius Emeric Avery and Euphadora Rose Parkinson words: 409 outfit: Something smart. notes: <3 template by izzy [googlefont="Allura"]

Who's Your Daddy? A far cry from the actual dining room, Auri and Meredith found their way into the smaller room next to the kitchen, food steaming in dishes on a round table. His lip curled at the sight. How disrespectful! To invite family for dinner, and then use the casual dining table for it was just insulting. Auri watched with disapproval as Finley showed Merry and Anna to their seats. At last he wouldn't be sat beside Parkinson or Finley, which was a blessing, but he was not happy at all about the table. He was Finley's father, he should have been sat at the head, in a position of respect. And he was the sodding Minister of Magic right now, that deserved double the respect! His son's curious gaze didn't deter him from drawing his wand and pointing it at the table. With a quick incantation and a flourish of his wand, the round edge of the table near his seat stretched and straightened, turning the entire table into a half oval shape. Much better. Satisfied that he now had a head to sit at, he pulled his chair out and sat himself down, reaching for his whiskey and taking a sip. Meredith reached for his hand and he gave it a reassuring squeeze. Her smile was filled with concern, but he paid it no attention. She had nothing to worry about, he had fixed what had irked him without a drama, and now they could eat and hopefully leave soon after. "The lamb looks a bit dry," he commented as the food finished serving itself and he poked at it with his fork. "Who made it, you or Euphadora?" His smile was warm and curious as he glanced between the two. "Oh, but the potatoes are lovely!" Meredith gushed, turning to Dora and trying to engage the wraith in conversation. She was such an admirable woman, his Meredith, engaging the poor like she did. "How are you keeping, darling? You look so thin, you must give me some tips." Aurelius zoned the women out and stuffed a sprig of broccoli into his mouth. Annabelle looked as fed up as he felt, and he was happy that at least one other person in the room had their head screwed on right. _______________________ tag: Euphadora Rose Parkinson and Finley Charles Avery words: 410 outfit: Smart casual. She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
Dora put on a pleasant expression as the Averys entered the little dining room, her eyes shifting to Fin’s as she saw Aurelius’ expression turn from general disappointment to disdain. He’d literally just stepped foot in the room, how could he possibly have found fault already?! Dora smiled reassuringly at Fin, an expression they had perfected over their many years to let the other know someone in the room was being a right tit and couldn’t be acknowledged audibly. Fin set to assigning everyone a seat and Dora sat happily as Fin pulled her chair for her. Thank Merlin she was sitting next to Meredith and not Aurelius. Fin would never do that to her if he could avoid it, and she would do the same for him in return. The seating arrangement seemed spot on and yet Fin’s father continued to stand, his expression looking as though someone was shoving a red hot poker where the sun didn’t shine. Dora occupied herself with her napkin and turned her eyes down toward her lap so as to avoid letting her own face give her feelings away. She only lifted her gaze for a moment as the table began to stretch and then forced her sights back to her own space. Finally the man was sitting but Dora knew that wouldn’t be the end of it.
An insult smothered by a mother’s love. Fin was so much more like his mum than his dad, but really only in that he wasn’t an insufferable wank. Aside from looks and the occasional hot-headedness, Dora preferred to think that her best friend had none of his father in him. Fin was just a prince and she gushed as much. “They are,” she agreed with Merry, popping a small fork full of potatoes in her mouth. “It’s all fabulous, Fin.” She patted his leg beneath the table as his mum started in on the weight conversation. Weight, make up, fashion, those were the topics Dora engaged the most in with Fin’s mum. It was easy conversation and something Dora was actually interested in, so there was rarely any faking it. She saved that for chats with Anna. “Naturally gifted, I suppose. Though I do try to watch what I eat and get plenty of exercise.” She flashed a quick glance at Fin and joked softly, “although the morning sickness isn’t hurting.”

Who's Your Daddy? Aurelius had just started chewing on a sprig of broccoli when Dora mentioned something about morning sickness. He coughed. His hand flew to his mouth to keep his food in there, beautiful blue eyes practically bulging out of his skull as he looked at Euphadora, and then at his son with a look of complete disbelief. Dear Holy Merlin, please tell me my boy isn't as stupid as I've always believed him to be, he prayed as he coughed and swallowed hard to get the broccoli to go down and behave. Merry looked at him with concern, Dora's comment seeming to have completely gone over her head. Not surprising, she wasn't the sharpest tool in the box. Still, she patted his hand and asked if he needed a napkin. Aurelius shook his head, swallowed once more and reached for his drink as he gave Euphadora a steely gaze. "I'm sorry, the morning what?" he snapped, sipping his drink as carefully as he could so that he didn't choke again. The morning sickness? Why in Merlin's name did she have morning sickness? Finley was no help, he merely sat there looking like a lamped rabbit. Aurelius waited for an explanation. _______________________ tag: Euphadora Rose Parkinson and Finley Charles Avery words: 224 outfit: Smart casual. I dunno. She was a little bit ruined a beautiful disaster but she was magic
Dora was still looking at Fin when Aurelius began to choke and as her attention turned to the man struggling to eat a simple piece of broccoli Dora’s eyes widen with fear. Oh shit. Why had she said that? Why now, in front of the worst possible people to say that to? This moment could have only been made worse by her own mother’s judgmental presence but even that she thought she might be able to manage. Fin’s father, on the other hand… “Bollocks,” she said to herself, an intense feeling of dread overcoming her as the choking man recovered, his eyes staring intensely at her. He asked her to clarify what she had said but Dora, though not very smart in the traditional sense, was bright enough to know he had heard her perfectly well. Of course he had. She hadn’t been quiet about it. What had she been thinking?! She hadn’t been, that was the problem. So consumed with making Fin feel more at ease, she had completely lost the plot. She could blame it on the pregnancy but it all was still so new to her that Dora didn’t yet realize that was an option, not that it would improve the current situation any.
Starting to turn her head toward Fin, who was too bloody silent to be of any real use, Dora found she couldn’t actually pull her eyes away from Mr Avery and her silent plea for help from her best friend went unfinished. “I haven’t told my mum yet,” she remarked timidly, as if that was some sort of buffer. Rebekah had basically disowned Dora after Theon’s death, she certainly wasn’t high on the list of people Dora had considered telling she was pregnant to. The baby might be eight and a half before Dora worked up the nerve to speak to her mother again but that was neither here nor there. Dora felt queasy and she wasn’t sure whether it was the look in Aurelius’ eyes or the morning sickness again. She felt as if she might cry if she had to sit there any longer. She shifted uncomfortably in her chair, eyes still locked with Fin’s father.

Who's Your Daddy? Auri nodded stiffly, eyebrows raised as Euphadora revealed in a mousy little voice that she hadn't told her mother she was pregnant yet. Pregnant! "Oh," he said, with a few more nods, dinner forgotten about for the time being. "You've spared your mother the horror, have you? But we get-" he spun on Finley with wild eyes, half standing from his seat as he pointed a finger at his embarrassment of a son. "Is this yours?" he demanded, "Did you really-?" He couldn't even bear to say the words. If Finley had knocked up Euphadora Parkinson, there would be no returning from this, and Aurelius wanted nothing to do with the child, whether it would be his own flesh and blood or not. He would disown it while it was still in the tramps belly, and the thing wouldn't get a penny of the Avery fortune. Over Aurelius' dead body would that little whore get her hands on Auri's hard earned - and well hoarded - money. Merry merely sat, trying to politely pick at her meal as though nothing dramatic was happening at all, and Anna looked as though she'd just been married off to her favourite celebrity. This was no laughing matter! _______________________ tag: Euphadora Rose Parkinson and Finley Charles Avery words: 234 outfit: Smart casual. I dunno.
