LUCA ABRAHAM CARVER
THIRTY SIX | DADA PROFESSOR | ORDER SUPPORTER | FORMER HIT WIZARD
Luca is a general pain in the butt. He can be a bit terrifying at times, with a nasty temper and the skill set to back it up. Most people irritate him to some degree, but you have to be a nasty piece of work for him to become properly angry. He is not all bad once you get to know him better. He is loyal to a fault and very driven to accomplish his own goals, whatever they may be. His sense of morality does not always line up with the general populace, e.g. he has no problem killing people. Despite the fact that he would generally like most people to assume he's going to come kill them in their sleep, he has a huge heart and loves hard. He also has a soft spot for children, having basically raised all five of his siblings. He likes difficult cases the most, as he was a troubled youth. He has never gone out of his way to make friends, and has on more than once occasion gone out of his way to make enemies. He is dogmatic in his principles, however skewed they may be. His sense of humor is crass at best, especially once he starts drinking, and his tendency to state whatever he is thinking out loud can rub people the wrong way. He may have a drinking problem also, though it is a dark secretâ„¢.
He was a hit wizard from the time he was nineteen until he was twenty seven, after his wife disappeared he lost it for a while. Dumbledore offered him a job if he could get sober, and he became a professor at thirty. He might spend his spare time attempting to track down and kill death eaters, though he refuses to become a member of the Order of the Phoenix. He's been the defense against the dark arts professor for the past six years. He adores teaching and tends to have his favorites, though he tries not to be obvious. He runs a strict classroom, but he has a reputation for doing things that are not always the safest way to demonstrate certain things, which students love and parents hate.
Luca has his fair share of FRIENDS. He was involved deeply with the ministry for quite some time and he still talks to many of his old co-workers. He was a workaholic then and he still is. After getting married he found it easier to socialize more freely strangely enough. He has a forceful personality, but he doesn't try and manipulate people into doing anything with him. If you want to be his friend, he will be loyal until the day he dies, but if you don't want to be his friend he will keep right on rolling. He has always had a wild streak a mile wide and though he's calmed down quite a lot, he still knows how to have a good time. He tends to be quiet, and people seem to like to talk to him, perhaps because he rarely voices any judgement of their lives.
Now ENEMIES are probably more than he can count. When it comes to people doing things he thinks will harm others, he has loud and frankly, obnoxious, opinions. He doesn't accept flack from anyone and though it's hard to earn his respect, losing it is as easy as breathing the wrong way at times. He's also quick to fight anyone for almost any reason, especially when he was in his twenties. He had a chip on his shoulder for years about his upbringing and any mention of it would be perceived as a threat. He also hates anyone who associates themselves with Voldemort and will gleefully insult them to goad them into a fight regardless of where they might be. It's passed into an obsession that consumes most of his thoughts unless he's working as a professor.
He LOVES hard and fiercely. It's like an inescapable force of nature, something he has no control over whatsoever. He also tends to be a bit of a opportunistic lover as far as things go, meaning if the opportunity presents itself, he is going to jump on it. (Sometimes literally.) He has difficulty acknowledging his emotions at the best of times and it got much worse when his wife disappeared. He still wears his wedding band though it's been years since she has been gone. He takes it off if he knows or suspects something is going down, but otherwise doesn't part with it. He's had various flings throughout the years and his school years were a mess of meaningless teenage drama. He's not looking for anything serious at this point, although it's not completely off the table.
