Due Process is Due for a Revival In a leaked memo from the Ministry of Magic, Minister Galanis calls for the suspension of British wizarding citizens rights if they are deemed Death Eaters. Who is to make this decision of guilt if not the Wizengamot in a fair trial? Why surely all those new law enforcement officials they're hiring and throwing out into the field with minimal training and heaps of encouragements to hex first and ask questions later will be fine chaps when it comes to deciding whether a citizen is a Death Eater or simply caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Minister Galanis' short time in office is already raising hairs, as many of her opponents say she brings shame to the position of Minister for Magic. Anti-Galanis protesters have already begun to organize marches to to defend what they say is their Merlin-given right as a wizarding citizen of Britain. Others back the Minister's actions, saying that liberty comes at a price. One supporter, Maxwell Fishell III of Padstow, voiced his opinion, stating "if you ain't guilty, you ain't got nuthin' to worry 'bout." Others, like Lucinda Merryspree of Leeds, claims "this is a gross overstep of the government's reach." Whatever the opinion, one thing is for sure. There's a leak in the Ministry of Magic. |
