wizarding money
The wizarding currency of Great Britain consists of three coins; Galleon, Sickle and Knut. They are gold, silver, and bronze, respectively. Around the edge of each coin is a series of numerals which represent a serial number belonging to the Goblin that cast the coin. The three denominations of wizarding currency are represented with the following symbols: - = Galleons
- = Sickles
- = Knuts
Money in itself is thought to be one of the five exceptions to Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration, meaning it cannot be created from nothing. Attempting to duplicate money with the Geminio spell is also ineffective, as duplicates created from Geminio are worthless. exchange rate
Wizards and witches who were raised in the UK are quite familiar with the exchange rates of wizarding coins: 17 Sickles = 1 Galleon 29 Knuts= 1 Sickle (493 Knuts= 1 Galleon) ★★★ An easy conversion tool can be found here, for converting muggle money to wizarding coin, thanks to Beyond Hogwarts. Remember the timeline is set in 1979 when figuring out prices for any items being detailed in your posts. MEL @ ADOXOGRAPHY [googlefont=Alegreya Sans:400italic][googlefont=Open Sans Condensed:300]
