Lucius peeked through the curtain to the front lawn where Narcissa was grooming her bushes of roses. Since the death of their third child, Narcissa mostly kept to herself. Lucius knew she was devastated but he didn’t know what to do. She was not the only one who was wrecked by the news. He was too. He loved Narcissa so much that divorce was not an option. There were rumors saying he’ll divorce her for not being able to have his child, but she was only twenty-three. Lucius was sure that they can try for babies but since she distanced herself from him, how will they be able to conceive? Lucius thought that Narcissa was probably saving herself from more devastation by having another miscarriage or death.
His parents weren’t helping too. They kept asking questions about grandchildren when Narcissa was still grieving. Lucius often heard Narcissa crying in their chamber’s bathroom but when she emerged from it, she looked fine. Lucius didn’t want to ask to avoid her from spilling any more tears but this had got to stop. He often woke up in the wee morning hours to Narcissa tossing around the bed, probably having nightmares. He would wake her up and calm her down only to be answered with silence when he asked about her nightmares.
He didn’t know what to do anymore. Narcissa didn’t cuddle with him anymore. When he tried to hug her, she would tensed and let go after few seconds. Lucius missed the old Narcissa. And he was determined to bring her back. He hoped she would want to come back.
