Outfit-Here!
May. Was. Exhausted. She had been on nothing but night shifts for the last two weeks and she was finally -finally- getting some time to herself. There had been nothing but accidental ingestion of magical plants and potions gone wrong for what seemed like forever and she was thrilled to finally be out of the what now seemed stuffy wards and annoying matrons. Not that she was really complaining of course...she loved her work but there were times when one needed a little time away from the marriage that was work life.
So here she was,
several brown paper wrapped packages clasped in her arms, standing outside the ice cream parlor with a look of longing on her slightly flushed face. When was the last time she had treated herself to a delicious frozen treat? It had to have been at least a few months right? She frowned slightly as she fished for the memory before shrugging it off. Honestly most of her time seemed to be blurring into one steady stream of working and sleeping with the occasional hasty meal thrown in. She hadn't had a day off since Christmas and even then it had been a very hurried trip back home to Wales and back again. Pulling her parcels closer to herself for a moment as she made her decision she eventually lost the frown and turned away from the window and moved towards the door. A treat certainly wouldn't hurt.
Pushing into the store she sighed in happiness as the heat that hit her face -not too hot of course no one wanted melted ice cream!- before heading to the nearest booth that was free and dropping her parcels into the bench seat with little ceremony, happy to have put them down for the first time in the few hours she had spent in Diagon Alley. Next time her mother asked her to pick a few things up she would have to tell her it would be easier to just send an order by owl....it wasn't like it would get there any faster by her daughter getting them. Her poor owl was going to hate her! She would perhaps have to borrow one if there was much more to send. Turning from her claimed booth she pulled her purse out so she could grab a few coins to pay.
Looking up as she reached the counter she bit her lip as she considered her choices before smiling at the clerk waiting to serve her. "Good morning!" Came her cheerful greeting, the Welsh accent still oh so evident despite years of living in Scotland and now in London. "Mint chocolate and vanilla please oh and a cup of tea?" She passed the require coins over and smiled in thanks, accepted the cup of tea first and then the bowl with the 4 scoops of ice cream. "Thank you very much." She nodded her thanks before moving back to her table, placing first the tea down so she could push her parcels over slightly before sliding into her seat with the bowl of ice cream taking pride of place in front of her.
A swipe of the mint with the her spoon and it was happily taken up to her mouth where she allowed a small happy moan to escape. Yummy! She was glad to have come in now.
