“Queen to E-7.” Serenity said with a cheerful smile. She wasn’t a whizz at chess, in fact she was quite bad at it, but that never stopped her from playing, “Bishop to E-7. Checkmate.” Said her opponent. Serenity sighed with a smile. “Well done, Xan.” Serenity extended her hand to Xantha Travers who reached over and shook her hand with a smile congratulating Serenity on a good play. Yet another game won by the Chess Captain and another lost by Serenity, but Serenity wasn’t in it to win, she was in it for the fun of playing with a friend. She always lost without fail, but it was an excellent way to work the mind for a few minutes - because it never took longer than a few minutes when someone played against Serenity.
Xan packed up the board and the demolished little pieces while Serenity got up and left the common room. It was starting to get a little busier and Serenity figured that the evening rush of the Great hall was finally over which meant she could sneak off to the great hall and have some dinner in piece and quite. There were bound to be a few lingerers and some coming in late like herself, but on the whole the Great Hall wasn’t going to be too busy.
Serenity passed quite a few students on her way up to the great hall, all headed back to the common room or perhaps sneaking off to one of the seldom used classrooms in the dungeons for a little fun and games, but Serenity’s mind was on dinner and who she might sit with this evening. She wasn’t a fan of the crowded tables during the rush, but that didn’t mean she liked to eat alone, and thankfully for Serenity, there was usually a friendly face or two that she could sit with, so quietly, with a cheery smile, Serenity stood in. The middle of the large oak doors and looked around the great hall at the scattered students eating the final meal of the day, trying to decide who she should join.

 I'm that bad type make your mama sad type Apollo headed inside after leaving his mates in the courtyard. They'd all eaten while he was carrying out Prefect duties, and now he was left to eat alone before dinner was over altogether. He didn't mind his own company, he was chilled enough to just daydream on the day, and what tomorrow might bring, but he was a tad pleased to see the back of the drop dead gorgeous Serenity Bullstrode heading towards the Great Hall. She paused in the doorway, looking unsure, and Apollo swooped in at her side, taking her hand in his. "The food won't come to you, love," he teased, gently guiding her further into the hall. "Come on." He took her over to the end of the Slytherin table and indicated for her to sit first. Apollo didn't know anyone who didn't like Serenity, she was, well... serene. Gorgeous, yes, but oblivious with it. He often tried flirting with her but it usually went right over her head. That, or she was a brilliant actress and was only pretending not to notice. He was happy to be her friend and enjoy the view. Besides, he'd been raised better than to leave a lady standing alone. There were a couple of girls that Serenity knew over at the Gryffindor table. They were always nice to her and she to them, but her mind was made up for her by Apollo. He came out of nowhere and took her hand but Serenity wasn't surprised, she turned her head to look at him, still smiling but even bigger now that she had someone to focus her joy on. "Hello, Apollo." She said, almost dreamily, "Thanks for joining me. I always like to eat with a friend." She took a seat and looked at the food on the table, "It always looks so delicious." She thought out loud, "I think I'll have the pie." She leant forward and used the big serving utensils to scoop herself up a slice of steak and kidney pie. She set the pie down on her plate and then reached for some peas and corn. "Could you pass me the pumpkin juice in a moment?" She asked Apollo. "How's your day been?" It was usually just a conversation starter, a little small talk, but Serenity was genuinely curious as to how Apollo's day was going and seeing if she could help make it better in any way.

I'm that bad type make your mama sad type Serenity sat herself down happily and began helping herself to some pie as she asked about his day. Apollo grinned, looking over the food on offer as he slid onto the bench next to her. "Really good," he answered, ladling some soup into his bowl and grabbing a piece of bread to dip in it. "I feel like I did really well in my exam this morning. Charms. I smashed it." It'd been a breeze, actually. Apollo had expected these exams to be hard, challenging, something to make him sweat, but his first one had been child's play. Maybe he was jumping the gun and the next ones would get harder, but he was hopeful. He felt overly intelligent today, which had given him a nice buzz. "How are you getting on?" "Really well," She responded softly as she poured the pumpkin juice into her goblet. "I think I did well on the Charms exam this morning but I'm not sure I've prepared enough for tomorrow. I suppose I have tonight to do a little extra revision." She pondered before she scooped up some of the pie on her fork and brought it to her lips, pausing just before taking the bite to look at Apollo, "What exam is it tomorrow?" She wasn't actually sure what tomorrow was supposed to be. She had a sheet in her dorm magically stuck to the wall so that she wouldn't lose it, but all her memory had gone to her subjects and remembering exams just didn't seem as important, someone would see to it that she was there on time.

He waited until Serenity was finished and poured himself a goblet of pumpkin juice. "I'm a bit worried about that one because you never know what you're going to get asked to do," he admitted. He worked hard at all of his lessons, his parents wouldn't have it any other way, and he intended to do well in every single one of his exams, but Transfiguration made him nervous. He was sure the exam wouldn't be asking them to turn a feather into a peacock. Transfiguration? Oh good, she didn't take Transfiguration, it was much too advanced for her. She's managed an A in her O.W.Ls and that was simply more Ethan enough of the subject for her. She was quite pleased that Transfiguration would be tomorrow because that meant she was going to have an extra day of studying, although she supposed she would need to look at her calendar in her dorm to see just what exactly it was that she needed to be studying for next. Charms? Oh, no, they'd had that today, that was probably why it was os fresh in her mind. "I'm sure you could do something spectacular." She was certain Apollo could change soup into a squid, although she most certainly could not, "Here," She said, holding up a spoon, "Why don't you make this a pocket watch." She suggested, although perhaps an exam timetable would have been better.

I'm that bad type make your mama sad type Serenity held her spoon up, and for a second, Apollo thought she was giving it to him, but she asked him to transfigure it instead. "A pocket watch, eh?" he mused, taking the spoon from her and feeling a little bit cocky. He didn't really have much use for a pocket watch, but he did have an idea of what he could make instead. He took his wand from his robes and after a bit of concentration, the metal began to bend and change, smoothing out and taking on a gleaming shine. The rounded end grew bigger and more oval shaped, and the handle thickened, a pattern of roses etching itself in place. With a smile that could be called arrogant, Apollo handed the beautiful silver mirror over to Serenity. Serenity watched Apollo's mind work the spoon into a new form. It wasn't a living thing like he would probably be expected to make in his test, but it was something that he could hopefully do and boost his confidence. Serenity was in awe as Apollo presented her with an ornate silver mirror that she could see her reflection in perfectly, "That's beautiful," She beamed, completely impressed by his talents, "Although it's not a very good pocket watch." She turned it over and looked at the back. It was certainly a wonderful mirror and she fully intended on taking it back to her dorm with her. "Best not tell the Professors," She chuckled as she tucked her new mirror into her bag with a cheeky grin. "Looks like you've got nothing to worry about if you can do that on a whim." She said. Transfiguration really took a strong and talented mind, something Apollo obviously possessed.

He dished the pure cheese with a charming smile and carried on eating his soup, feeling pretty chuffed with himself. A spoon into a mirror was simple enough, they were already very similar. He'd bet his left nut that tomorrow would involve turning a mouse into an elephant and he'd make a holy show of himself in front of the whole class. Serenity didn't really hear the compliment she was given, she heard the words but the fact that it was a compliment on her looks completely washed over her head. She was oblivious to anything like that, it was just something nice that people told one another, she thought. Serenity scooped up a few small pieces of her dinner onto her fork and popped it into her mouth, enjoying the flavours of the pie. The elves that made the food really were quite wonderful, and Serenity had read that all the Hogwarts meals were based of Helga Hufflepuff's own recipes, something she thought was quite incredible in some ways, but surely there were more meals no that could be added to the schedule, and some adaptations or updates to make this extra nice. Perhaps they could work on creating something new over the summer holidays. She'd not return to it, this was her final year of school, but it would benefit the other students, would it not? "Have you got anything fun planned for the summer?" She asked, her mind "Or a job lined up?" It was such a strange thought to think that now their Hogwarts years were coming to a close that they would be looking for jobs. Serenity had nothing at all lined up officially, but she hoped to maybe work with Eden for a bit, to get some pocket money.
