things could be so different to how they are... | [attr="class","walkpost"] [attr="class","linescr"]Andromeda hummed softly to herself as she moved around her kitchen, which didn't take much effort since she couldn't move more than a step or so to each side without walking into one of her worktops. Not that she minded- it was easier to keep clean, and she certainly felt more at home here than she would have done in the great stone barns that had served as kitchens in the house where she grew up- not that she'd been permitted to enter them very often because, as she had been told so often and so emphatically, pureblooded ladies did not cook. Neither did they clean, apparently, or garden, or, come to that, do anything useful at all. The brunette shook her head as she bent to check the progress of the meat in the oven. She could have lived a life like that, all too easily, but she could never really have enjoyed it. Thank God for Ted, otherwise who knew what might have happened to her by now?
And that was another thing. It was not the done thing in the high society of the magical world to show love, apparently. Certainly, Andromeda had never spent much time with her own mother, and she'd been well aware that her father took less than no interest in her. It was all so different to the life that she was living now- Andromeda glanced down at her daughter, who persisted on sitting slap bang in the middle of the already limited floor space, and smiled fondly. That was something that she would never have dared do. But everything was going to be better for Nymphadora. She was determined.
The witch glanced up at the clock squeezed onto the kitchen wall, and made a few mental calculations. She should have about half an hour after her guest arrived in which to make conversation, and then everything ought to be ready. So, that worked out more or less perfectly. | "Rather a happy maid than a sad queen," @veronica Words:307;Outfit: Click Notes: Nope |

[attr="class","red-fat"] [attr="class","red-inner"] [attr="class","red-rib"] [attr="class","red-out"] [attr="class","red-txt"] There were a few people in Veronica's life that she valued, loved and cared for alot and one such person was Andromeda. Their friendship had been the most unlikely of all. Given that they two weren't in the same house and now were they in the same year. But all thanks to her brother they had ended up as best of friends and while she didn't know how her brother was with Andy, she had continued to keep in touch with the now Mrs. Tonks. She had taken to admiring the elder witch for the decision she had taken by marrying Ted. And while many frowned on it Ver was among those who was genuinely happy and wished her luck. How could she not? Given for a fact that she herself saw how happy Andy was when with her husband and little kid. And how can Veronica forget about the little Nymphodora. To be honest she grew very much attached to the little bundle of energy and would often drop by the cottage to babysit her. That was why it wasn't much of a surprise for Veronica when she received the invitation to dine with the Tonks that day. [Break][break] Unlike the last week, this time it didn't Ver long time to get ready and select her dress. She had decided on wearing the baby blue lace knee length dress and one look at her reflection made her feel confident about her selection. She had a cup of tea while getting ready which Shell had insisted on. And she didn't have the heart to say no to the elf, who had been with her since she was a little kid. Checking on the bouquet of flowers she has got and the bottle of wine she selected for that dinner, Veronica decided to apparate to the cottage. She knew that it was a little bit early but she wanted to have a chance to play with the kid and help out Andy if possible. The witch had enough on her plate when the school was open. And it was only in the vacation time would she get a chance to relax and Ver would make sure she does and not over exert herself. After all she wasn't an outsider in the Tonks house. [Break][break] Pushing open the door of clock cottage she stepped in and was greeted by the smell of the dinner. She grinned and called out to the witch "whatever it is you are making smells absolutely delicious Andy". Setting the flowers in a vase and the wine on the dining table, she made a beeline to the kitchen. She knew that was where Andy was, though she did wonder where Ted was. Her eyes met the cutest scene as she smiled at the like girl who was seated on the floor and babbling something. She picked up Nymphodora in a scoop and spoke up "miss me Dora?" as she tickled her making the girl giggle. She went to Andy and placing a kiss on her cheek she greeted her "evening dear, and you look lovely as ever" as she took in the appearance of the other witch. things could be so different to how they are... | [attr="class","walkpost"] [attr="class","linescr"]Andromeda heard the sound of the door opening and gave Nymphadora a warning look; the girl pouted and slumped back to the floor, having just been about to dash off to see who was there. Of course, Andromeda knew that she could trust Veronica to catch her daughter before she made her way out into the big wide world- as had happened once or twice when the brunette hadn't been quite vigilant enough- but that was the thing. These days, one could never be a hundred per cent certain of who it was at the door, and even as she stood there, the witch's fingers were edging towards her wand where it sat on the counter, only to drop away again at the sound of a familiar voice.
"Don't get your hopes up too much!" Andromeda called in response, tugging open a drawer and beginning to rummage through it in a fruitless search for a sieve. "I'm no great chef, remember!" The brunette had always been of the opinion that to be a truly good cook, one needed to start early; one needed to spend one's childhood standing in the kitchen and watching someone else work over a stove. That chance had never been available to the Black girls; their food was all prepared by house elves, and no doubt their mother would have thrown a fit or three if she'd ever found them in the kitchens. Kitchens were where Cinderella was sent for punishment; she wasn't supposed to enjoy being there. Of course, her mother had never heard of Cinderella, and if she'd caught Andromeda making references to Muggle literature then she'd probably have put her through a fair few curses. Thoughtfully, the brunette traced a finger across her skin just below the collarbone, where the line of a long-forgotten scar was just about detectable to the touch.
She smiled softly as she watched Nymphadora in her friend's arms. It did her good to see how trusting the little girl was- Andromeda was pretty much certain that neither she nor any of her sisters would ever have been that close to someone outside the family. Would ever have been allowed to get that close to someone outside the family. Certainly not a young lady who lived on her own and, Merlin forbid, actually had a job. And, of course, even seeing Nymphadora at all was a permanent pleasure for Andromeda. The product of a union forged from love, not from an alloy of money and power, and a sweet, uninhibited child who could live her life without having to worry about the expectations of an antiquated society and a half-mad mother. At least, Andromeda hoped sincerely that she wasn't half-mad. A quarter, maybe.
"As do you," the brunette returned, pressing a kiss to her visitor's cheek in turn and giving her daughter a teasing poke in the stomach which caused her to squeal with laughter- far more loudly than was merited by the action, in fact. [attr="class","red-fat"] [attr="class","red-inner"] [attr="class","red-rib"] [attr="class","red-out"] [attr="class","red-txt"] At Andromeda’s words veronica found herself laughing and said ”It can’t be worse than mine, Shell would kick me out of the kitchen, worried that I might burn the house down and it hold true”. She caught sight of Andy searching for something and she raised a brow at it, ”use the accio sweetie”. Sometimes she wondered if Andy really was becoming a muggle with the way she lives, not that Ver was judging or anything. But in her eyes it was practically difficult to be like a muggle, especially having lived the earlier years of life as a wizard and used to magic. And not to mention that Andy was a Black, one of the old and ancient families to exist and who still follow the ages old customs and traditions. And even though she lives in a muggle apartment, Ver would often find herself using magic though she does make sure that none of the muggle residents witnessed it. I mean she never could imagine doing things the muggle way. [break][break] As she held Nymphodora in her arms, she was very much glued to the little one’s antics. Sometimes and only at times like this does Ver feel that may be she can be a mother, and dote on her own kids rather than her friend’s. Not that she minded that Nymph was Andy’s daughter or anything in fact Nymph was one the kids Ver really liked to baby sit and the little girl was such a dear whenever she was around. It was that she wanted to have a kid of her own, but that thought would be put aside when she remembers her job as a hit witch. There were too many risks she would be placing her child in and she didn’t want the added tension of worrying over her family and her kid as well. Though she wanted to be a mother, she wasn’t sure if she want to become a wife. Not that she would ever admit it out loud for the fear of being seen as a lunatic for having such thoughts. She caught sight of Andy’s smile and she spoke up ”it feels wonderful to be a mother right? Especially to this little one”. [break][break] When Nymph once more broke into laughter, Veronica found herself giggling as she nodded her head at Andy’s question. ”yes please, and you too join me” And then she remembered the bottle of wine she left one the table and said ”Oh and I got us some wine to go with the food, don’t ask me the details and such, Shell just handed it over “ she admitted with a sheepish smile. To be honest one would wonder that Ver listens to her house-elf as though it was her mother and t e honest it was kind of true. Shell had been the one to raise Ver since she was a kid and that was why the elf followed her after to her apartment as well, afraid that the young mistress would not be able to manage on her own and would need help. And Shell was not wrong on that part, as Veronica could not imagine herself managing her things even for a day. And then she was reminded about Ted and she asked ”where is Mr.Tonks? Couldn’t see him while I was coming in” [break][break] TAG : Andromeda Irma Tonks[Break] WORDS : 550+ [BREAK] [attr="class","red-rib2"] [attr="class","skin-cred"] ♰[newclass=.red-fat]width:360px;padding:10px;background:#f2f2f2;[/newclass][newclass=.red-inner]width:350px;border:1px solid #dcdcdc;background:#fff;[/newclass][newclass=.red-rib]width:300px;height:80px;background:#3196da;margin-top:25px;[/newclass][newclass=.red-out]width:300px;border:1px solid #dcdcdc;margin-top:20px;[/newclass][newclass=.red-txt]width:250px;margin:20px;color:#000;text-align:justify;padding-right:10px;font-family:arial;font-size:10px;[/newclass][newclass=.red-txt b]color:#3196da; letter-spacing:-.5px; text-style:bold; font-size:13px;[/newclass][newclass=.red-txt i]color:#3196da; text-style:italic;[/newclass][newclass=.red-rib2]width:302px;height:20px;background:#3196da;margin:15px;[/newclass][newclass=.skin-cred]font-family:tahoma;font-size:8.5px;letter-spacing:2px;color:#3196da;[/newclass][newclass=.skin-cred a]color:#3196da!important;font-size:9px!important;text-decoration:none!important[/newclass][nospaces]

things could be so different to how they are... | [attr="class","walkpost"] [attr="class","linescr"]Andromeda laughed, although she did so a little distantly, her mind elsewhere. The house elves she'd grown up with would never have dared to presume so far as to refuse anything of their masters... of course, the poor things had lived in abject terror of her mother and, she suspected, of Bellatrix as well, although she'd never been entirely sure about her sister. About either of them, come to that. She'd lived with them for so long, at school and at home, and yet she'd never quite seemed to be able to get to the bottom of either of them. It was a tragedy, but then they were, as she could now see, so different that perhaps it wasn't so surprising that the brunette couldn't understand her sisters entirely. Certainly, she'd never understood how her parents could be so devoted to an ideology which was so self-evidently ridiculous. Andromeda didn't know how she could be so different to the rest of her family- though she supposed that they weren't her family, not any more. She'd been disowned. Struck off the family tree. In a way, it was cathartic. No more worries about meeting their expectations, or letting them down. The brunette was on her own now, and she intended to make the best of the opportunity that that provided.
"I've got it now," she pointed out, balancing the sieve across the sink and tipping a pan full of rice through it in a cloud of rising steam. "Right, nearly there now..." Lifting the cover from a pan, the brunette surveyed its contents and nodded to herself in satisfaction. Well, she hadn't set it on fire yet, which was always a good sign. Andromeda stirred the chilli briefly before putting the lid down again and turning to answer her friend. "Absolutely," she agreed, her deep brown eyes finding her daughter. "I'm so lucky." In fact, she would have loved to have another, but what with Ted's job paying as little as it did, she really couldn't afford to miss a lot of work, and so, if it was going to happen at all, it would have to be calculated to fit in with the school holidays.
The brunette shook her head at her visitor's question. "You wouldn't have done," she agreed. "He's had to work late tonight. Hopefully, he should be back before we're done." | "Rather a happy maid than a sad queen," @veronica Words:503; Outfit: Click Notes: Nope |
