”I faced death, I was death, I beat death The old gods are dead, the stars are burning, all in the name of discovery. TAG: @open. WORDS: 353. NOTES: NOTES HERE His dark eyes scanned the walls as he listened to the tapping of the long goblin fingers on the marble table between them. It was an elegant room, lined with different artifacts and pictures all related to Goblins, with a large marble table in the middle of the room. Sitting at the other end he gave a little sigh which got no response from the Goblin pouring over a document with his hands on a small locket, running it through his fingers. Patience was a virtue and not one that Percival had at the current moment, he just wanted his money for what he had found and brought to his employers. As a curse-breaker he worked for Gringotts recovering priceless artifacts, the locket in the Goblin’s hands was one of those but one he discovered on his free time. ”I was informed the locket was goblin made…I’m sure you can appreciate me brining it here” interrupted Percival breaking the awkward fifteen minute long silence. The eyes of the Goblin just stared at him for a while, before responding to Percival ”You are correct Mr. Dearborn, the object belongs to us. Thank you for returning it”
A bag of galleons was slid across the table which Percival too happily grabbed before he got up and exit the room making his way down the hallway. Coming out into Diagon Alley he pushed his way into the busy crowded afternoon streets, the feeling of the galleons he just earned bouncing in his pocket. Normally Percival was not in the country but today he decided to come back to sell the artifact he had discovered in Germany and he saw no point in leaving so fast. Stopping by the ice cream palor he put in a order for some and sat down at one of the small tables outside the parlor. Dragons Breath he thought as the lady brought him a bowl off red colored ice cream that seemed to be smoking almost. His eyes started to scan the crowd of people shopping as he ate his ice cream, taking in the people and the fresh air.

Tuesday afternoons were always free for Cora. She worked Wednesdays to Sundays and her weekends were Mondays and Tuesdays. Today wasn't so warm but then again it was Winter. In a month everything would be ever so slightly warmer and a hell of a lot wetter as Spring reared it's stunning little buds. Things would be blooming before they all knew it and then it would be summer. Things would be busy, the sun would occasionally shine down without being locked behind a thick veil of clouds every day and the stars would be visible, shining brightly and fiercely. Everything would be beautiful, although there were always those times of the month that Cora did not look forward to. Every month she wolfed out and it was not for the feint of heart. She'd come to accept her fate in some ways but she still resented it in others. Life shouldn't have been this way for her, or anyone. She'd always wanted a family of her own some day and that wasn't going to happen, not biologically speaking, and what man would want a wife that couldn't bare him children? Hell, what man would want a werewolf for a wife anyway? Cora wanted within her heart of hearts to be loved, to love and to have a family of her own but there was no way that was possible in the way she envisioned it. She'd thought of adoption but she couldn't put a child through that. How would she care for it on the full moons? How would she even explain to a child what she was?
Cora didn't spend much time thinking on her future, nor on her past. She very much believed in living in the present and being present. The past could not be changed and the future was unknown so why dwell on either? Her accident - if it was that - had been a sobering reminder that life was short. She'd been lucky to have had company that night and not just wondered out in to the meadows alone. Had she not had company then who knows what would have happened to her, what she did know was that she could have died and while her fling of the evening had taken any notice of her after that night, she couldn't blame him. She knew the stigmatisms around her kind all too well and she faced it from everyone that knew of her condition, it was why she didn't venture all that often in to the wizarding world, preferring to mix and mingle amongst the muggles.
Today was different. She needed a few supplies and things were just easier bought from Diagon Alley. There was a chance she might be seen by someone she knew but at the same time it was going to be busy so hopefully by the time anyone caught a glimpse of her, she'd be gone from their line of sight. There were of course a few people she didn't mind seeing but they were few and far between, most of them not even in the same country as herself right now anyway, but she kept her head low, walking in to the Ice Cream parlour and ordering herself something to regret later when she was suffering the curse that was brain freeze. Thankfully the full moon had already passed for this month and she was almost back to being an entirely normal human being. She watched as a bowl of something delicious made its way by and noticed it land on the table outside with a very familiar face sat to it. A little smile caught at the corner of Cora's lips. She hadn't expected to have seen Perce. He was always off around the world on one adventure or the next so his presence at the ice cream shop was a brilliant one. Once her cone was ready she took it, heading out of the doors and standing near Perce, clearing her throat, "Mind if I join you?" She asked, smiling widely at one of the few friends that hadn't rejected her the second they'd found out what she'd become. Even her parents had issues with what she'd become but thanks to her sisters, Perce and a few other close friends, she was making her way through life, even if she was a but of a recluse at times.

”I faced death, I was death, I beat death The old gods are dead, the stars are burning, all in the name of greatness. There was something different between the fresh air of sitting outside the ice cream parlor in Diagons Alley to the fresh air of walking across a rarely trekked path in some forgotten forest miles away from civilization. Most would choose Diagon Alley, but Percival was not like most people he lived for danger and the thrill of exploring. Despite being affected by some long-forgotten curse that was probably created in the depths of hell, he still hadn’t given up on his taste for danger. Exhaling the dragon breath hence the ice creams name he let out a small chuckle as he glanced at some people walking by. His thoughts started to drift off to his next stop, he planned to go to Ireland again hoping to follow a lead about Merlin’s grave.
Ever since his years at Hogwarts Percival had become obsessed with the famous wizard Merlin, specifically with the location of his grave that was lost to time. He had spent the years since graduating looking for the grave following every lead no matter how farfetched it was. However; nothing had lead to anything truly concerned and to date, the grave’s location was still a mystery. Still he was not one to give up and the latest rumor he heard would lead him to Ireland but that was for another day, today he just wanted to spend some time back at home. His thoughts were interrupted by a familiar voice, breaking his gaze away from the crowd of people.
Looking over he saw the voice belonged to his good friend Cora Vance smiling at him, which he returned with a bright smile and a motion of a hand to the empty chair across from him. ”Cora! Of course, anytime” said Percival in his normal friendly tone. Cora had been a friend since Hogwarts a fellow Ravenclaw to boot and a friendship that even stood against drastic changes in life. Percival was aware of Cora being a werewolf and unlike others it didn’t scare him or make him want to run away from her or their friendship. Truthfully, he thought it fascinating through he knew it was probably not the same sentiment she shared. ”I’m glad I ran into you…I leave tomorrow for Ireland so it’s good to see you when I have the chance” said Percival looking directly at his friend, giving his scars on his face even more visibility. They were permanent by dark magic and were always going to be part of him, something he had started to finally get used to. They ranged from his face to his arms, even his chest and back all from when he was hit with the curse, basically being burned into his skin.
Taking a few bites out of his ice cream and breathing out the steam like he was a dragon he chuckled while glancing over at Cora. ”Should have went with dragons breath…so how has things been since I was last back?” said Percival with a laugh before throwing in his question. He had left England only a few weeks back staying in Germany until today after he finally discovered an item he was looking for.

Percival was quite a serious looking guy to look at. When his face was resting he wasn't the sort of guy you'd willingly approach. He had a dark sort of aura but it didn't matter when you knew him because when you knew him and you saw that smile, he became a totally different person! Resting he looked serious, happy he looked as though he couldn't get enough happy kitten snuggle fluffy rabbit news. He looked like a big softy and he really was one of the sweetest guys that Cora knew. He was a good friend, an absolute gem and one in a million. He didn't look at her any differently once he'd discovered what she was, he didn't treat her any differently after she was bitten and he didn't ask any awkward sort of questions that would leave her feeling uncomfortable or like a second class citizen. She'd lost her position in the ministry because of her affliction. She had to be registered and so many people learnt about her furry little problem. Thankfully having been a bit of a wallflower, even at work, had paid off, and while most people had heard, it wasn't s if she was all that recognisable. Hell even her boss hadn't known properly who she was. Nine times out of ten he called her 'Linda' and Cora never corrected him.
"Ireland?" She asked, quirking a brow, "That'll be fun. What's in Ireland that's so special?" She asked curiously, taking a seat. She honestly hadn't thought that she'd run in to Perce of all people because he was off around the world at every chance he got and she supposed she was very lucky to grab him for a bit of time now because he was off again tomorrow, even if Ireland wasn't all that far from home sweet home. She took a lick of his ice cream, wondering if Perce had official work in Ireland or if it was just something he was doing for himself. It wasn't all that far from home and it wasn't a tropical or hot sort of place so perhaps he was doing it as more of a hobby. Perce was lucky, he was one of the few people in the world that did what they loved for a job. He had his literal and mental scars from his traumas that his work caused him but on the whole it was an adventure. "Same old same old, I don't live the life of the thrilling like some." She chuckled and then took a lick of her ice cream, just a few simple flavours combined.

”I faced death, I was death, I beat death The old gods are dead, the stars are burning, all in the name of greatness. Cora had always been a good friend and it always hurt him how she had been treated after becoming a werewolf even being fired from her job. Percival did not understand such small thinking from people it was just like pure-blood ideology, such an ideology based on lies and pure belief. True pure-bloods were long forgotten, the so called sacred families in his mind weren’t truly ‘pure’ but that was just his own opinion. He nodded at her when she asked about Ireland and what was so special that was in Ireland. ”Hopefully a chance for once in a lifetime discovery, it’s just a rumor that apparently Merlin’s grave truly resides in the borders of Ireland but you know me I’ll follow any rumor or legend about Merlin”said Percival with a laugh. He had been obsessed with the long dead wizard and the location of his grave since school time and it had only consumed him more as he graduated and became a Curse-Breaker. He didn’t truly believe the rumor would pan out, but he would go anyways and hope for the best, if anything he hoped for at least the discovery of something of value either in the form of money or knowledge.
He gave a slight chuckle as she took a lick of his ice cream ”It’s good isn’t it?” he said laughing a little more. It was true Cora’s life wasn’t as exciting as his, most people’s lives weren’t, but they also didn’t get put in the countless dangers he had been in. Even before the curse he had been in a numerous amount of close calls, and even to the point of almost being held hostage by a tribe of witches in the Amazon forests. ”Well with the thrills come the danger as well, so consider yourself lucky. Not all these tombs and other sites are just guarded by some old curses” he remarked with a slight chuckle, as he thought back to some of the times he had been attacked by people guarding a tomb, a temple, or some centuries old building. Taking a few more bites out of his ice cream he watched as the vapor of the dragon’s breath came out of his mouth. ”If only dragons breathed this and not fire” he said giving a laugh.

Cora smiled, it was brilliant that Perce had such a passion, something he was willing to literally follow to the ends of the Earth. At least with Merlin's grave this time there wasn't so far to travel. Ireland was right across the water and undoubtedly a lot safer than other countries that Perce's travels would take him. Cora didn't mind that he was gone so often, he was off chasing his dreams and it was great to catch up whenever he was home but she figured his visits to home were few and far between when chasing his dream, as well as a job that saw him out of the country quite a lot too. Perce was a man of the world and Cora envied him a little. She was confined to the UK, she had to jump through hoops with the ministry if she wanted to go anywhere and she had to make sure that wherever she was, she had plans for the full moon. It would be no good to have a known British Werewolf terrorising some quaint little European village, international magical relations were already tense enough in the current climate, no one would want her adding to it all. "That sounds excellent." She wondered how long it would take Perce to thoroughly search the area but she supposed that was like asking how long was a piece of string. "I wish you luck with that, I'm sure you'll dig up something priceless one way or another."
It was hard being content with the life that she had but somehow Cora managed it. She knew things could be a lot worse but she had her sisters that helped her through everything. They were the light of every day. Emmeline was basically her guardian angel, she was the only one of Cora's two sisters that was graduated and she helped take care of her in the build up and the aftermath of each full moon. Without her sister she would have been lost, she would have starved some days when trying to get a job in the magical world, it had never really been much of a thought to explore the muggle world for a job, it wasn't really heard of for a witch or wizard to go out in to the muggle world like that, but Emme had made the suggestion and Cora had found a job quick-smart and with a fellow witch too. "If dragons started breathing ice cream then I might have to sign myself up for a dragon wranglers class." She laughed, it would certainly make them a bit less scary though their size and aggressive natures were damn well intimidating still!

”I faced death, I was death, I beat death The old gods are dead, the stars are burning, all in the name of greatness. The vapor of the dragons’ breath escaped his mouth and nostrils as he blowed it out like he was a fierce dragon. The fiercest of them all. It was true that even if this latest rumor or lead to Merlin’s grave don’t pan out that he might at least find something of valuable at least. Most of the rumors had turned out that way, he would find something else which would be nice, but it would never truly satisfy his curiosity needs of a Ravenclaw like him. He longed for the day that he would make the discovery of the old great wizards grave. To discover his wand and see if they did share a wand, before Percival’s old wand was broken in the incident last year. He wondered what he could find in Ireland because he truly believed this would not pan out to anything pertaining to Ireland. He could be wrong, but he felt that Merlin’s grave had once been in Europe but relocated out of protection from scholars like Percival and grave diggers. He didn’t value money from anything he would discover Merlin, related he wanted to keep it for himself maybe open a museum one day of the all different things he collected that he didn’t sell or turn over to Gringotts. ”Hopefully that is true for this journey, if not I don’t mind visiting Ireland” said Percival, knowing how Ireland had beauty in it.
”I’m not sure it will plan out to something to do with Merlin I don’t believe the grave is anywhere located around Europe, it’s been moved at least that is my theory” said Percival knowing there were dozens of theories about Merlin and the location of his grave. He gave her a little smile with her wishing him luck and a nod as in a thank you. He had, skill but luck was always needed he saw that now since he survived that curse. He gave a laugh about how she would sign up for dragon wranglers class if dragons breathed ice cream. He had seen a few dragons and dealt with them in his career, unfortunately, but he found them fascinating and even thought of becoming a Dragonologist. He had fallen in love with COMC during school and with dragons even more so. However, he loved his job as a curse breaker giving him a chance to discover tons more stuff than he could as a Dragonologist. ”You should do it anyways, dragonology is a wonderful subject and dragons are just wonderful amazing beings” said Percival, his face showing his interest in the subject of dragons with almost interest as it did with discussing Merlin.

Cora licked at her own ice cream, enjoying the mix of flavours as she thought about what it would be like to have a career like Perce's. Travelling all over the world would be incredible! Following your heart wherever it lead was something she secretly desired but with her condition it was practically impossible. Her freedom was limited by the laws of the wizarding world and if she were to leave the country then she needed to make sure she'd have appropriate accomodation set up for her monthly break out, that was if other countries would even accept her. She was lucky in that the UK was four countries, but if she wanted to find herself in Ireland then she would have to jump through all those hoops the ministry set up and then some for the Irish ministry. The thought alone was tiring enough without actually having to go through with it all but she hoped to one day travel - when she had enough money to pull it off. "At least you can rule it off your list." She said in response to Perce not being sure Merlin's grave was in Europe at all. Merlin was certainly a wizard of mystery but surely he wouldn't have strayed too far from his beloved homeland but then again Perce probably knew a heck of a lot more on the subject than she did! He probably had books filled with information on Merlin's travels, his habits and such.
The idea of studying Dragons amused Cora. She wasn't too sure how they'd react to her with her condition but it was definitely something to think about. This rare trip into the wizarding world was turning out to be a really lovely afternoon and she was glad she'd made the effort today. Sticking to the muggle world was nice enough but it was a good feeling, a relaxing feeling, to be around people like herself, people with magical abilities. She didn't have to hide who she was here, at least not all of herself, she still had to hide her wolfy nature as not a lot of people were keen on her kind but it wasn't as if she had any tell tale signs nor did she have to announce it to everyone she passed. She could just not tell anyone and the only people that really knew were those she'd told and those she worked with at the time of her bite. "I'm going to have to check out a few books on dragon taming." She told him, "Or read up on how to make ice cream." She chuckled.
