T'was the season to be jolly, yet the Christmas spirit never really lifted Heath like it seemed to most others. Perhaps because he was true to himself all year round, he was not influenced by a few bauble or sprigs of holly. The castle was wonderfully decorated and Heath so did enjoy the touches of nature around the castle, but it didn't put him in a better mood, nor a worse one, than what he would not have already been in had it not been Christmas time.
Heath ran his right hand through his dirty blonde hair. It had been a while since he had got it cut and he could practically hear his mother telling him that it might be time for just a little trim. Heath didn't mind it so much, a good curtain of hair sometimes kept undesirables away. It gave him a little privacy from the outside world, which really came in handy when he was engrossed in a good book. Luckily for the world his baby blues were focused on the world today. His book was far away in his dorm at the top of Ravenclaw tower and there it would stay until he cosied up with it in the warmth of his blankets and the cushiony softness of his feathered pillows.
With his legs taking him on an adventure across the snowy grounds while he amused himself with his own thoughts. Heath stopped to pick up a quick snack in the great hall, ignoring the trail of mud and snow he'd left behind that Filch would have to clean up. Heath wasn't usually so inconsiderate but it was all rather a mystery to him. Why was a squib hired to clean the castle by muggle means. There were quite a few students there, they could all quite easily pitch in every day to keep the place spotless, even the teachers could, but no. Dumbledore had hired a Squib and his cat. For why? Heath's theory was that the man was atoning for something, but what? That was a quandary for another time, another day. Today he wanted to head back outside, the crisp air doing wonders to liven his mind and the crunching of the snow underfoot did more to put him in a solstice like mood than any bauble or tinsel.
The great hall was busy, as it always was at lunchtime, but Heath didn't feel like eating too much. He carefully wrapped a few things for later and placed them carefully into his pockets before taking off again. Exiting the great hall and the castle Heath made his way towards the courtyard on the ground floor. It was surrounded by classrooms, half of which Heath was certain he'd never seen used, but it was a nice spot for a Saturday lunchtime. Most people only came through during the weekdays when they had lessons so he felt quite certain that his interruptions would be kept to a minimum while he thought of the Hogwarts founders and just how many secrets they'd put into the castle they'd supposedly built. Heath took his thoughts to one of the stone benches that sat in the courtyard. It wasn't really a place for winter visits, but the bare tree that hung overhead of the seat he had picked made him feel comfortable and in place.

Give me love like never before 'cause lately I've been craving more Lucy threw her banana skin in the bin, done with lunch and quite frankly bored. Her homework was finished, she'd put her morning to good use, and aside from spending the afternoon reading, she really was at a loss. She didn't want to be cooped up in the common room for the rest of the day, she'd been in there for hours already. It was cold outside, but she had warming charms on her coat, perhaps it would be nice to just have a little walk and see all of the decorations that had been put up around the castle for Christmas. She'd seen the main ones already, but there had to be more that she'd missed. So, she took herself on a little tour, navigating the changing staircases until she had counted fifteen trees dotted about the castle that she'd not noticed so far. There were tinsel and wreaths draped around the walls, holly decorated the windows, and every now and then she would see a sprig of mistletoe hanging over a doorway, or in an archway as she passed under. Her feet carried her to the ground floor, and she found herself at the entrance to one of the smaller courtyards. It was deserted, as usual, students only using it to travel between classes. It was useless on a weekend, but the snow lay perfectly on the ground, mostly untouched except for a single set of footprints that meandered through the white powder. Absentmindedly, Luce followed them, fitting her smaller foot inside the larger footprints so she didn't disturb the perfection of the snow that lay around them. It would be perfect out here for making snow angels. Maybe she'd try that before she went back inside. Crunch. Crunch. Crunch. She followed the footprints until a pair of shoes appeared in front of her. Luce looked up. "Oh." It was only Heath Scamander sitting at a bench right in front of her. No big deal. Just the hottest guy in school. Her heart kicked into gear, beating faster just at the sight of him. She'd seen him a few times over the summer, but he never failed to dazzle her just with his presence. She smiled, forcing herself to relax and keep her cool. She was not a bumbling idiot, she was an intelligent, confident young lady with her head screwed on and her feet planted firmly on the ground... in her crush's footprints. "Heath, hey." That sounded cool enough, right? _______________________ tag: Heath Jarred Scamander words: 448 notes: <3 outfit: Jeans, jumper, boots, coat. template by izzy[googlefont="Mr Dafoe"][googlefont="Cinzel Decorative"]

Heath's powder blue eyes were lost in the sky for a while, that was until a little blur out of his peripheral. He slowly looked from the heavens, his hair falling forwards, to spy one Lucy Fawcett seemingly lost in thought, off on her own little adventure as she followed the only footsteps in the snow to where he sat. "Hey." He said in return with a casual, lopsided smile. He flicked his head, moving his hair from his face. He'd grown to quite like Lucy. She was a cool person. Heath found it was easy to be around Lucy because he could have comfortable silences or he could put Casanova to shame. Either way, it was nice to be around Lucy especially having spent a bit of time with her over the summer holidays and a bit more now they were in close quarters up in the Ravenclaw tower. "I didn't expect anyone to find me out here." He commented, knowing few people ever bothered with the area. It wasn't as aesthetically appeasing as some of the other court yards and it didn't have anything particularly interesting about it. It was interesting how their minds connected on such a similar level. Of all the people that could have happened across him, of course it was Lucy. It was the only person that made any sense. "You look nice and rugged up." He thought she'd be the type to go for a scarf and little hat but he supposed he was wrong, at least today. She seemed well shielded against the harsh Scottish winter. "What brings you my way today?" He enquired, shifting over on the bench as a way of inviting her to join him if she so desired. It was her call and Heath wouldn't have minded if she carried off on her adventure, he hated to come between a beautiful girl and her daydreams.

Give me love like never before 'cause lately I've been craving more He thought she looked nice and rugged up. She could do without the rugged up bit, but the nice part was more than welcome. She did look rugged up to be fair. Her boots were definitely winter warmers, and her black coat was chunkier than one might like to be discovered in by their crush. She should have worn something sleeker, but honestly, the cold was actually that cold, and it wasn't worth getting sick for the sake of vanity. Besides, she couldn't have predicted running into Heath here, so she'd just have to make do with being bundled up. Luce would have commented in how Heath looked, but he looked bloody spectacular, as usual, and she worried that she'd embarrass herself if she mentioned it. She glanced down at her boots, still nestled in Heaths old footprints. "I followed my feet," she answered with the smile of someone who felt a bit silly saying such a thing. It was only the truth, though. "The universe clearly wanted me to find you," she added, glancing at the spot on the bench he had cleared for her. She hesitated for a few seconds before sitting next to him. One butt cheek was warm-ish where Heath had shuffled over a bit, the other butt cheek was right over there on the untouched patch of bench, freezing cold. She ignored it, tucking her hands between her thighs for warmth. "What are you doing out here?" she asked, glancing around the empty courtyard and wondering why he would want to sit out here in the cold alone. She understood needing alone time, and it was beautiful out here, but likely only in short bursts. More than fifteen minutes and her bum would be frozen solid to the bench. She would happily sit there all day and freeze if it meant spending time with Heath. She was insane. She was actually insane. _______________________ tag: Heath Jarred Scamander words: 352 notes: <3 outfit: Jeans, jumper, boots, coat. template by izzy[googlefont="Mr Dafoe"][googlefont="Cinzel Decorative"]

Heath very much approved of Lucy following her feet. It wasn't that he she needed any such approval, but it was very much a thing that Heath thought more people should do. Wandering for the sake of wandering as a relaxing, even somewhat cathartic way to pass the time, "'All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost;'" he said, quoting the great Tolkien. "I'm just relaxing for a while. The Great Hall was too busy for my mind and I craved some intellectual company for a while." He said, giving her a wink. He of course meant himself, but as he was inviting her to stay with him, that most certainly covered her too. Lucy was a smart girl, though not in the 'know it all' sort of way. She was witty and Heath enjoyed that about her, so few people seemed to possess the talent of Wit, even in the house of Ravenclaw, the house most known for it. "A little walkabout is good for the soul." He said, believing it completely. "Have you got any plans for the Christmas holidays?" He asked. Some would think he was just making small talk, and it certainly did seem like it, but Heath was interested in setting something up with Luce, catching up before they returned to Hogwarts because people were different outside of Hogwarts. Outside of the castle bounds there was freedom, and people always acted differently with freedom.

Give me love like never before 'cause lately I've been craving more Lucy's smile was wry. "Ahh, well you're in luck. I happen to be marginally intellectual." And then some. She was a smartypants on her worst days, positively glowing with intelligence on her best. The hat had been quite excited when it had been placed upon her head. "A wonderful mind full of wisdom and eagerness to learn," it had told her, before bellowing "Ravenclaw!" into the Great Hall. She had expected to be placed in the house of the Eagle, but maybe not so fast. A little bit of back and forth with the hat had always been what she had imagined her Sorting would involve, but such a swift and sure placement had been encouraging. She knew she was in the right place, that she truly belonged in the Ravenclaw tower, and it was lovely to feel so settled from day one. Heath reassured her, maybe without meaning to, that her walkabout was not completely pointless. It was, indeed, good for the soul. And his little Tolkien quote thrilled her more than she was willing to let on. A guy who read was one of the most attractive things in the world. To Lucy at least. "Still round the corner there may wait a new road or a secret gate," she replied, again quoting the great Tolkien. It was endlessly true of the castle. You never knew what you might find around each corner. Or whom. She shrugged when he asked about her plans for Christmas. She didn't really have any, she would be doing whatever her mum wanted. That sounded lame, so she dodged around the brutal truth and went for a softer answer. "We're spending Christmas day at Phoebe's house this year," she said, knowing Heath was familiar with her cousin. Familiar might have been a mild word for it, Heath and Phoebe had dated for a bit before they'd 'gotten a bit too sexy for each other' as Phoebe had put it. "Aside from that, I'm not sure. Hopefully my mum won't try and keep us busy with too much, I'd like a bit of free time." Time to read, play in the snow, or just hang out in the bedroom that she hardly spent any time in would be nice. "What are you going home to?" she asked, knowing Heath had a big family. He would likely be kept busy, too. _______________________ tag: Heath Jarred Scamander words: 431 notes: <3 outfit: Jeans, jumper, boots, coat. template by izzy[googlefont="Mr Dafoe"][googlefont="Cinzel Decorative"]

Heath was impressed. He'd quoted many different authors of varying degrees of greatness, yet barely anyone ever seemed to pick up on these quotes. Lucy had flawlessly known what he was quoting and had come back with a Tolkien quote of her own that made his casual features smile a little. Spending time with Lucy was so effortlessly easy. She was one of the few people he didn't have to take a break from, someone he didn't need to recharge after talking to.
"Family is a wonderful way to spend the holidays." he commented, he too would be visiting cousins and spending time with his siblings and parents. "Log fires, many, many animals, mostly poop." He said brazenly, tilting his head to the side, semi-joking but in all reality a lot of animals did create a lot of manure and all the family helped chip in with the clean up to make it easier to spend time with one another while they were all home. Feeding the animals was a big job, too. "I'll find time to myself. My family are understanding that books are more my obsession." He was glad they weren't imposing. As much as all the animals meant to the Scamander family, they weren't really much of a big deal to Heath. He liked them, he'd bonded with a few, but he'd rather read a book than play zoo-keeper. "I quite fancy checking out the book sales after Christmas, would you like to join me?" He asked, not wanting to put any sort of unexpected pressure on her to feel obligated to join him. He'd happily peruse the many bookshops alone if Lucy felt so inclined as to turn down his offer.

Give me love like never before 'cause lately I've been craving more Poop was not what she expected to be talking about with Heath right then, or at any point to be truthful, but he made it sound so normal, so casual, that she wasn't put off. "Books are definitely better than poop," she agreed, though she did enjoy animals, too. Maybe not cleaning up after them, but she was sure she'd learn if she got herself a pet of her own when she was older and living in her own home. Her face lit up when he mentioned wanting to go book shopping in the January sales. She had not expected him to invite her along, but she couldn't deny she was more than happy about it. "Oh, yeah, I'd love to! There's this new book shop just opened in Mystic Alley, Salem's Lot, I've been wanting to check it out, maybe we could go there," she suggested, loving the idea of exploring every nook and cranny of a new book shop. And with Heath by her side, well, that was just some sort of dream state that shouldn't be a reality, yet here she was, planning for it. She was already saving her Christmas money up in her head so that she could spend pretty much all of it on new tomes and tales. _______________________ tag: Heath Jarred Scamander words: 249 notes: <3 outfit: Jeans, jumper, boots, coat. template by izzy[googlefont="Mr Dafoe"][googlefont="Cinzel Decorative"]

Heath chuckled at Luce agreeing about books over poop. Heath had nothing against animals, he liked them really, but dealing with all their needs, having to sort out their literal crap was just all too much for Heath. Of course he'd help out from time to time, he wasn't a slacker in any way, but he'd rather spend his time smelling the pages of a book rather than the excrement of a thousand animals. Thank Merlin his family were supportive and didn't push for him to help out too often with all that mess.
Lucy had a bookstore suggestion and Heath nodded his head. It was a good idea and he liked the sound of it. He hadn't been yet so it was definitely going to be worth a look, figuring out what kind of place it was and if it would perhaps be a regular shop to visit. Heath hoped so, he loved a good bookstore, book sales or not. "It's a date." He smiled, standing up, ready to give Luce back her solitude and to quite frankly warm up his arse that was starting to go numb. "I'll see ya around." He said with a nod of his head and a lazy, lopsided smile, before he set off, out of the courtyard, ready to get back into the warmth of the Ravenclaw common room.

Give me love like never before 'cause lately I've been craving more A date. He'd thrown the word out there so casually that he likely meant nothing by it, though Lucy's stomach still did a little flip flop at the word. And before she could even form the words to respond, he was gone. A swish of golden hair, a flash of a crooked smile and she was alone in the snow with a heart that was fluttering a little bit too wildly. He was literally the coolest guy in the world. Well, maybe not the world, but her world. She found herself staring off into snow-covered space for a long time before she realised that she was freezing cold, and her journey back into the castle was a stiff one. There was an odd smile on her face for the rest of the day, and though nobody questioned her about it, she wouldn't have told a soul the reason behind it. _______________________ tag: Heath Jarred Scamander words: 185 notes: <3 outfit: Jeans, jumper, boots, coat. template by izzy[googlefont="Mr Dafoe"][googlefont="Cinzel Decorative"]
