Unholy is the lust in your eyes "blasphemous" would not suffice
Busy was one way of looking at it, though boring might be more apt. Alaric had since found steady work, something that was in question last time they’d been together, and he was working hard to keep his nose clean. Perhaps that counted towards busy but it was increasingly tedious and Ric was itching for a little change of pace. “Is that even possible?” he queried back, realizing only after he said it that she probably was the last good adventure he’d had. And if that had been two years ago, then fuck him he was a boring old sod. “Had a few jobs down in Wales recently,” he answered purposefully cryptic. “And some up north.” In the past his ‘jobs’ would have referred to various crimes he’d committed, with his mates when he was younger and then on his own after his stint in Azkaban showed him he couldn’t rely on anyone else not to cock it up for him. But these last few ‘jobs’ were actual gigs which didn’t last long. The ambiguity in his turn of phrase made him feel more adventurous like when they were kids. Things were a right bit easier when they were younger, though Tess seemed to be faring well as a proper adult. He took a swig of his beer before reciprocating the question. “What about you? How’d you manage all this then?” He gestured to the pub around them, the pub she apparently ran now instead of stealing booze from behind the bar and sneaking out into the Alley with him to drink.

Unholy is the lust in your eyes "blasphemous" would not suffice She was running the place now. Alaric was impressed, he honestly didn’t think her parents would have allowed that. The best he could remember of Tessa’s family, they weren’t completely enamored with their daughter’s choices in life, Ric being one of them, and he could recall no small number of times when Tessa would complain to him that her parents simply didn’t understand her. Perhaps they had changed. Or maybe they had died, but even then, she had siblings who would have inherited the place before her, he assumed. It was possible they had all died, what with the war and all, but rather than think on all that death Alaric preferred to assume someone had a change of heart somewhere. He couldn’t fathom Tess would have been the one to change, to settle down. She was too wild to be broken, it would have taken a miracle to tame her.
“Has it been that long?” he questioned, obviously skeptical of that duration. He’d been going through a rough patch the last time they got together, he remembered as much, but it wasn’t as though he kept a journal marking every time he got laid. Two years didn’t seem quite right to him, but unless Tess had her own diary full of their sexploits, he could chalk up her estimation as mere guesswork. “Can’t imagine I’d go that long without seeing you.”

He watched with interest as Tessa participated in her own little wet t-shirt contest for the witch at the end of the bar. Her flustered display was endearing, and a bit encouraging if he were honest. His ego could use a little boost and being the reason a woman couldn’t think straight was quite the compliment. She slid a beer toward him and stood in wait, though not for what Alaric was going to offer. “You look good, Sweetness.” The mug was heavy with the full weight of its contents, just enough foam on the top to require him to wipe his upper lip off after taking his first drink. She held her hand out for payment, which she would get before he left, but he ignored her action. “You been keeping busy?” He didn’t see a ring on her finger, nor the tan lines of a recently removed ring, but he couldn’t picture Tessa being the sort to settle down, even in his absence. She was a wild one. He liked that about her. It was why he was here.

The Leaky had long been a favorite spot for him. When he was younger, before his stint in Azkaban, Alaric would come around the Leaky looking for the owner’s daughter, Tess. He used to hang out in a booth in the back and wait until he spotted her, pretending it was an accident they’d run into each other though they both knew it wasn’t. He’d been rather suave in his younger years, and judging from his last couple of dates his charms had only slightly dimmed with age. The dancers down at Spellbound all found him exceedingly chivalrous but it was a job he couldn’t afford to lose by shagging one of the girls, and honestly, he wasn’t in his twenties anymore, it wasn’t a sign of status to hook up with a stripper in your thirties. Who would he even be trying to impress?
“Hey, doll.” A little shake of his head tossed his long hair out of his face as he smiled at Tessa. “How ‘bout a beer?” It had been a while since he’d seen her but she was always gorgeous. He shifted on the bar stool where he sat, leaning one arm on the bar and watching her with a seductive stare. No matter how many times he came back for her, she’d always been here. Not literally here, in the Leaky Cauldron, but in his life, ready to have a little trouble with him. They always had fun getting into trouble, and with his life being rather dull these days, he could use a little liveliness in the form of a sexy brunette wildcat.

PERSONALITY Boggart: Dementor - Alaric is terrified of being sent back to Azkaban Mirror of Erised: Alaric would see himself as wealthy and happy Patronus: Erumpent - Alaric can no longer conjure a patronus, but once upon a time (before his stint in Azkaban) he could conjure a non-corporal patronus which he thought looked something like an erumpent. His happiest memory is of his Hogwarts sweetheart, Tess, and him sitting on top of The Three Broomsticks roof at sunset, drinking beers and eating sweets that they stole from the shops below during his seventh year.
HISTORY Mother: Alice Pinkerton, 51, Slytherin, pureblood Father: Frederic Beauvais, 67, Beauxbatons alumn, pureblood. Siblings: None Partners: None at the moment... Others: Tessa Nicole Abbott - Hogwarts sweethearts and on-again-off-again lovers
Frederic Beauvais and Alice Pinkerton were never married, though not for a lack of trying on Alice’s part. The older man would come in and out of young Alice’s life whenever he pleased and left just as easily. It didn’t even seem to phase him when he showed up one day to find that Alice was pregnant. She claimed it was Frederic’s but he didn’t believe her and when the baby finally arrived he threatened to leave her for good if she put his name on the birth certificate. It was perhaps that omission that allowed little Alaric to know his father as “uncle Freddie” and hardly even question why the man was in and out of his life. The first several years of his life, whenever Alaric asked about his father, Alice would tell him tall tales of a wonderful man who had died saving children from a burning building. Well, some of the times it was children, other times it was dogs and cats, and a few times it was an elderly couple. The story changed often but the main point was that his father was dead and he had died a hero. It came as quite the shock then that, at the age of eleven and just preparing to leave for his first year at Hogwarts, his mother confessed that his father was not dead but was, in fact, the man he called uncle. This news didn’t sit well with Alaric, who acted out brashly while at home, calling his mother a liar and insisting he didn’t have to listen to her anymore. When he made it to Hogwarts, his behavior only worsened. Sorted into Hufflepuff, Alaric continued to act out. He lost so many house points in his first year that not only did Hufflepuff lose the House Cup, but they very nearly had a deficit of points. Alaric received numerous detentions and spent more time in Headmaster Dumbledore’s office being lectured than in a classroom. Despite constantly getting into trouble, Alaric made friends easily. It helped that he was extremely loyal once someone had earned his trust, it was just the initial hurdle that caused Alaric to keep his distance and for others to think of him poorly. His bad boy attitude and devilish good looks made it all too easy to the girls to line up, something Alaric wasn’t complaining about. He dated regularly, though never any one girl for long. He didn’t like being tied down in his younger years, though as Alaric got older and experienced life more, the monotony of a steady relationship isn’t as treacherous as he had once thought. Things tend to look a whole lot more appealing after five years in Azkaban. It was a brilliant plan, if only it had worked out the way they’d planned it to. Alaric, now 21, was going to cause a distraction while his mate, Isaac, held the shopkeep at wandpoint and emptied the till. If they had switched positions, the robbery might have gone off without a hitch, but Isaac was a hothead and he did not like the shopkeep mouthing off at him. Isaac beat the man severely, who ended dying from his injuries. The courts called it manslaughter and they called Alaric an accomplice. He served five years in Azkaban prison, before being released on probation. Alaric skipped from job to job, never finding the right fit or the right sort of boss who would maintain his employment once his criminal history was discovered. He also skipped from woman to woman, for much the same reasons. Most recently, Alaric has found steady work as a bouncer for a strip club. It’s steady work and he feels good knowing he can rough up a few drunks when they get too rowdy and still keep his job.
