He's been alive for almost half a century, there are too many people to list.
Boggart: Max's biggest fear is that he will crack one day and start to feed on humans again. He has spent so long living off of animal blood that he can't see it happening, but if it did. If he became one of the monsters responsible for his wife's death...
Mirror of Erised: Liliana alive again. He can't stand to think about what happened to her, and wishes every day of his life that he could go back and change things.
Patronus: None. Max is a muggle. Well, a vampire muggle. No magic here.
Born in the small village of Saint-Malo, Brittany, Maximus was the only child of Jacques and Antoinette, and he doesn't remember much about his childhood except for running around the French port, encountering a few pirates on his adventures, and petting stray dogs. He would try to bring them home sometimes, but his mama would shoo them away, saying they would bring disease to their home. Max loved animals. That's one thing he does remember. Faces and names all began to blur as he got older, but he does remember that. He also remembers the night he became a vampire. Thirty years old and drunk in a tavern by the docks, he was with friends, all rowdier than him, and a bar fight broke out. It seemed his companions had chosen the wrong people to fight with. Vampires, as it turned out, and when the brawl moved outside under the moonlight, his friends were all killed, save for the ones that ran like cowards. Max did not run. He remembers the feeling of fangs sinking into his neck, of a voice saying how he was brave, and that was rare in port rats like him. He woke up a day or so later with the strangest craving.
And that was that. He was a vampire, bound to the night, shunned by the day, and left with no choice but to leave his parents and everyone he had known, for fear of them finding out that he had become a monster. His father would surely kill him. So he left. He travelled the world, he learned a lot, his eyes being opened to thinks he never would have imagined existed. Magical creatures, witches, wizards, werewolves. Everything. Everything in the horror stories his mother would tell him as a child, the things she would make up to make him stay in his bed at night, they were all real. Max spent most of his endless life discovering, wondering, absorbing all he could about the world. He travelled every inch of the planet before he met her.
Some four hundred years later, in a town in England. Max had been based there for a while, but he had never in all his centuries met a woman that made his head turn the was Liliana Fortescue did. She was the most beautiful creature he had ever seen. She admired him, too, and though she was betrothed to another, she would come to him, spend time with him, tell him her secrets. She did not wish to marry the man her parents wanted her to. Well, a lady should not be forced to do anything against her wishes. Max pursued her, fascinated by her, and found himself falling in love quicker than he would have thought possible. She broke the news to her family that she wanted to be with someone else, and though they were disappointed, it did not stop her from being with Max, and he was elated.
They married and started a life together, albeit an unusual one. He was a vampire, she was a witch. They both had their strengths and weaknesses. She could take them places in the blink of an eye, decorate their entire home with the flick of a wand. And he, well, he swore to protect her with his life for eternity. She fell pregnant and though it was something neither of them were very educated on, halfling children, Max was pleased. He would pass on his genes with this incredible, intelligent woman. Their child would be perfection. Their son was born in the middle of winter, Christopher, though they called him Kit for short. He was amazing. Beautiful, well behaved, smart, strong. There had been a few hiccups during the pregnancy, like Ana's craving for blood, which Max had helped her with by giving her some of the animal blood he survived on, himself. But they were through it, and their son was perfect.
A few years later another child followed, and though Max knew Ana was struggling, he didn't fully understand what was going on with her until he discovered what pregnancy cravings were doing to her. She had craved blood so bad that she had decided to get it from a vampire den in return for letting them feed off of her. Oliver was born healthy, but his wife was spiralling, and though he killed any of the vampires that he found connected to Ana, Max was devastated to see her still finding new ways of getting her fix. She was addicted to a vampires bite, and he felt so much guilt that he couldn't look at her for weeks after Ollie was born. This was his fault. He should have left her alone, never gotten involved with her. She would be having a healthy life if she had married someone else. Now she had been sucked into a dark world and he had no idea how to get her out of it. Confronting her didn't work, she just denied it. Killing vampires didn't work, she found new ones.
Their boys were growing up beautifully, and by the time she fell pregnant again, Ana was weak enough from her addiction that she couldn't stop Max from locking her in the house. He insisted that she stay inside, she had the back garden for fresh air and exercise, and she would not be visiting any vampire dens. She begged Max to bite her, screamed in the night, desperate, pleading with him for the venom in his fangs, but he refused. It was working, their first daughter, Seraphina, was born and Ana had been successfully weaned off of her addiction. Relieved and elated, max and Ana settled into a much more normal life with their three children, both content. Until she fell pregnant a fourth time. They hadn't planned it, and it came as a shock. Ana wouldn't be able to stand those cravings again. She was thinner now, not the strong woman she had once been, but damaged by the years of strife that she had lived through at her own hands.
Romily, their youngest daughter, was born too early. She was tiny, and Max was terrified that she wouldn't make it. Terrified that Romily and Ana wouldn't make it. They were both so frail. Both fought through, Roma getting stronger by the day, and Ana... well, she remained frail and thin, distracted, absent. Max knew it in his bones. She had fallen back into her old ways and he was so busy helping with the large brood they now had, that he hadn't noticed it for a full year. It was only when Roma was a little bit older than he discovered Ana's secret once more. She was so ill. He tried. He tried so hard to bring her out of it again, to help her, to save her, but her body had taken on too much, and with the venom she craved so much poisoning her veins, she couldn't fight it off. She died, leaving Max with four young children to comfort.
He was honest with them, gentle, but honest, and his heart shattered into pieces, he took care of his children. They each grew to make him proud over the years. Kit became an Auror, Ollie a professional Quidditch player. The girls are both out of school now and finding their own way, though they still live in the family home with Max. He likes that. He doesn't know what he will do when they both leave and he's on his own again. It's been a long time. Sera has recently revealed that she is pregnant, and though the horrors of Ana's pregnancies haunt him, he is trying not to project his own fears onto his daughter. He doesn't know what life will hold for him now that his children are all ready to fly the nest, but he will never be far from them, he knows that much. He may not have a wand and the ability to apparate to their side if they need him, but he will always be there for his kids. And his friends when they ask him to go for a drink.
He's also building up his library with rare books, but that's boring, so we won't go into that.
And he wants a pet but they all hate him.
Also can't remember whether his mum's name was Antoinella or Antoinette.
Possibly once snogged the Queen of England back in the day. Or her sister.
Fox blood is his fave.
Don't ask him about his tattoos. They are all very personal and he won't tell you about them. (Mostly because he can't remember getting half of them).
Also, don't mess with his kids mates, he loves them like his own and will deck you, you son of a bitch!
