The first born child of Alicia and Andrew Thornhill was the most precious baby Alicia had ever seen, Andrew, however, could not care for the child as it was a girl. He was a strict man, set in the world of traditions. He wanted sons, not daughters.
The second child born was Tobias. Andrew was content enough with a son but would one go so far as to call him 'happy'? No, not at all. It was rare for Andrew Thornhill to ever be happy.
It took years of trying but the couple finally had a third child, another girl, another displeasure for Andrew.
Finally they had their last child, another boy. That was good enough for Andrew. They were done having children.
Growing up Tobias loved his mother, his sisters and his brother greatly. His father, however, he despised. His father would often berate him, call him soft and accuse him of being a coward. Tobias cannot recall a single nice thing his father ever said about him or his siblings. He showered their mother with love, though, so Tobias knew his father wasn't all bad.
Tobias was relieved when it finally came time for Lia to go to Hogwarts, she was a brilliant sister and he loved her so much, but with her gone, their father was a lot easier to deal with. He wasn't as mean and nasty, as though she had been a constant reminder that being born female was a failure when all he wanted was a couple of heirs.
A couple of years later Tobias was off to school and sorted into Slytherin. He was with friends in the serpent house and he started to develop feelings for a house mate. Euphadora Parkinson. Her name, much like her, was sheer perfection. He tried asking her out in their sixth year but for some reason she laughed and he stood no chance. He was a little jealous of her friendship with Fin, but she was always telling her friends that there was nothing romantic there and he willingly believed her.
During his sixth year, just before he was due to come home for Christmas Holidays, he was informed that his father had fallen down a flight of stairs in the family mansion and had died. Tobias couldn't hold back the smile at that news. He was overjoyed but he kept it locked up as best as he could. As the heir of the family he inherited everything. The family businesses and fortune as well as the homes. He had a note left to him by his father, his right hand man was taking care of everything for the next four years, during which Tobias would finish school and start training with the man. Nathan Warbuckle was every bit a monster as Tobias's father had been, if not more. Tobias hated him and as soon as his training was complete he sent Nathan off to their American office to deal with things State side. He was too valuable to the company to lose him, he knew it better than anyone.
After graduation Tobias invested in a few businesses here and there and outright bought another, purely because he knew Dora had a love of books. He makes sure she gets a new book every month with a little inscription from him. He believes that one day they'll be married, but first they both need to experience life a little more, although genuinely he's ready to commit and get married and raise a family with her, he'll even adopt Pansy (who he frequently babysits for Dora) and raise her like his own. He loves to spoil her almost as much as he loves to spoil Dora.
