 Whatever they say your soul's unbreakable Oh, Merlin, he was turning those big brown puppy dog eyes on her and Echo found herself speechless as Ollie toyed with her. She knew he didn't mean to have such an effect on her, he was just being playful, but did he have any idea how gorgeous he was? The way his hair fell over his face, and those eyes... She could only sit there and stare, a weird smile on her face as he gave her a quick kiss. He was possibly the only person in the world that could leave her speechless without even trying. Sucking in a quick breath to keep herself from getting lightheaded, she turned her face away from him, focusing extremely hard on putting her empty plate on the small table next to her chair. When she turned back around Ollie had took his shirt off and Echo felt like she was in some bizarre alternate universe where she was just not herself. She stared at him as though she'd never seen him shirtless before.  Stay out, and we'll live forever now And there she was. Leo spotted her standing outside in short shorts and a bikini top. She looked hot. And then a young guy started talking to her and Leo felt a horrible sinking feeling. Was she here with someone? And he was young and good looking, too. He'd purposely neglected to add a plus one to Dora's invite, yet there she was, not alone. Competitiveness spiked, he decided there was only one thing for it. He needed to show her that he was better than the young guy she was with. It was pool time. Ant was inside, Lola seemed to be alone at the barbeque, and Leo couldn't impress Dora and cook at the same time, so he'd need help. He headed to the living room, grinning at the sight of all the happy couples enjoying themselves, though he wasn't sure Kiki and Felix were a couple, but they looked happy enough bumping and grinding. "Hey, party people," Leo called, pointing to Gabe, who was behind the bar with Freya. Leo hesitated, then turned his finger on Dorian instead, who had a beer in his hand and nobody to talk to. He was the better choice, rather than ruining Gabe's fun. "Humbertooo," he sang, hooking his thumb over his shoulder. "Can you take care of the barbeque while I get changed? People are getting in the pool and I have... business to take care of." He gave Dorian a wink. He wouldn't ask questions in front of everyone, Leo was confident about that, but they'd definitely be having a chat about a certain girl later. Leaving the living room, Leo hopped up the stairs two at a time and headed for the spare bedroom where he'd stashed his swimming shorts earlier. It was closer than walking to the other side of the house to his own room, and he barged right in, stripping his top off over his head and freezing in the doorway at the sight of Doc and a blue haired woman having a very good time on the bed. "Whoa," Leo held up a hand. "Hey, hi. Sorry." He glanced between Doc and the woman. "Is this the girlfriend?" The girlfriend Doc hadn't introduced to any of them yet. Words escaped her, though she managed to cry out his name between ragged breaths. He was so incredibly sexy, she had no idea where it came from. He seemed quieter on the surface, but underneath there was a fire burning that she loved to dive into and lose herself. Doc leaned in to kiss her and Sharla met him halfway, her heart pounding wildly in her chest. She ran her fingertips gently over his cheek, his lips, his neck. She adored this man. “Only if it’s going be worth my while.” She said with a playful smile, a hint of mischief in her eye. Johnny was an attractive guy, a little on the young side but she wouldn’t mind showing him a thing or two, although there was another couple in the kitchen and Dorcas raised her eyebrow at L’amour. The little baby auror in training was chatting up some redhead and Dorcas couldn’t tell if she was uncomfortable with the situation or if she was just one of those perpetually awkward looking people, either way it was none of her business right now and she figured Roux knew how to behave himself. Dorcas looked about the kitchen as people came and went, checking a few cupboards and wondering if there was any kind of cereal before she made her way to what looked like a bar in the room adjoining the kitchen, “Bingo.” She said, making her way to the bar, ignoring Jasper’s brother getting grindy with some hotty and Dorian between what looked like a stereo and the bar, but there was no way in hell Dorian was putting on some decent music, was there? "Hey gorgeous." She grinned at Freya, the room was busy and with the bar in it, Dorcas could understand why.

Elle hadn't really known who to invite to Leo's barbecue and she just decided that she'd go alone. She was sure she'd know a few faces there and part of her was really hoping that Liam would be there, although there was another part of her mind that told her it would probably be for the best if he wasn't. This was a social gathering, a little get together for friends of Leo, she was sure that if Liam was there then his wife would be. Wife. That was still so strange to Elle. She was in love with a married man. It was just so unlike her. Still, there was a chance Liam and Chloe wouldn't be there and that was fine, Elle was looking forward to a lovely afternoon mingling and getting to know new people.
When she arrived at Leo's home, she stepped inside and looked about at the sterile decor. As she was looking about she saw Leo's back head upstairs and she supposed she'd have a chance to say hey to him later, in the meantime she'd have a little apple juice or something, and maybe get something to eat. This was a barbecue after all and the food smelt absolutely delicious. She wandered through the house and out to the back where the sun was shining brightly, reflecting off the pool and the lake, giving Elle a moment of absolute serenity until she saw Liam, with his wife. Elle turned to quickly look away and took a step, accidentally knocking in to tall glass of gorgeous, "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going." She said, hoping she didn't do any damage before realising it was Geralina and feeling an absolute sense of relief that she had someone she recognised at the party.

Liam was for real. He didn’t seem to be joking, in fact he looked so serious that Chloe thought he might suggest looking for a new house as soon as tomorrow. Well, why not, eh? She could live her life by a pool. She liked to swim, she liked the idea of a home, and it was only a few more rooms than their apartment, and they wouldn’t all be used everyday so the cleaning wouldn’t be much more than it was now. And a family? Yeah, it was making her smile thinking about it, so sure, maybe. They could wait on kids and see how a home suited them first, maybe. “Kids?” She was still smiling, “A little mini-you?” The idea was kind of cute, actually.

“Ha!” Ant laughed as Liv said she felt like she was in trouble. Oh Merlin, he could only imagine the sorts of troubles he could get himself into with a girl like her. The sexy kind, that was! Definitely not the illegal sort. Ant was not the illegal kind of guy, although as Liv stroked her hand down over her leg, Ant couldn’t help but think he’d do just about anything Liv asked him to, hell, he’d even pop his own mother right now. “Heh, yeah.” What was he supposed to say next? He had to think quick, “So are you here with anyone, friend, lover ..?” He trailed of, face a little paler as the colour washed out of him. Lover? Seriously? Lunete laughed as he apologised if he misread the situation, she waved a hand, brushing his concern off, “Oh, God no!” She blurted, she didn’t want to think that she didn’t think he was attractive enough to hit on or anything, he was definitely an attractive looking guy, but she was definitely not hitting on him. He wasn’t looking and Lunete could relate to that, she wasn’t looking either. She didn’t have many relationships but they’d all ended mutually and respectfully, apart from the last one, and that was enough to put her off for a while. She’d lost her brother and Dickhead had decided that was the best time to dump her out of nowhere in her local bakery, so yeah, physical and romantic relationships were far from Lu’s mind. “I’m just a fan, brownie promise.” She said, raising her three middle finger, really showing her muggle side, which really wasn’t a bright idea in this day and age, she told herself, so she put her hand down.

Jasper headed to the punch bowl at the end of the food table, it smelt fruity and not at all alcoholic, but Jasper knew that there was still a chance that someone had dropped a little something, something into it to, well, punch it up a little, "Hey, Lo," He said, calling out to Lola on the barbecue. She was Paris' younger sister and while Jasper didn't know her well enough to be super best buddies, he knew her enough to say hey or to ask a question, although 'hey' and 'Lo' together sounded far too much like an awkward 'hello'.

People were coming and going, popping their heads in and then out again, it was almost like some strange hokey cokey, but Halley didn’t really notice much at all because she was hooked on what Roux was saying. The bottle was perfectly chilled and felt especially cool against Dorian’s hand which had previously been balled up inside his pants pocket as he struggled to come up with a way out of this conversation. Killian seemed like a perfectly fine lad, but Dorian was feeling old now and thinking about the last time he had felt truly comfortable in a social setting such as this seemed to age him even further. Mercifully, Killian made an excuse to leave and Dorian nodded his appreciation for the beer silently as the boy departed, turning instead to Freya and her fiancé Gabe who had found themselves at the bar.
Waiting for a lull in the conversation so that he was not interrupting the couple proved to be the best bit of luck Dorian could have hoped for. Leo barged into the room, full of dramatic flair (even for Leo, which was saying a lot), and summoned Dorian to the barbecue. ‘Business’. A wink. Leo was up to something and it did not take Dorian’s years of experience as an Auror to see that. Leo would explain in his own time and if not, Dorian would pester him until he found out what he was up to. “Sure thing,” he replied, giving Leo a little salute as he took his beer and himself out to the poolside where he could finally find a little peace in having a purpose he could throw himself into.
If it were possible, there were even more people outside than in. It made sense, obviously, but it meant he had a lot of cooking to keep up with if he was going to keep all these mouths full of food and not of conversations in his direction. Jasper was getting a drink at the end of the foods table, and Dorian clapped his shoulder in a friendly greeting as he rounded the table. “Hey, mate. I didn’t know you were here already. I might have not hidden in the house as long as I had, had I known.” He probably would have, but Jasper was a good enough friend that Dorian felt more comfortable at this party with him here. Dorian turned his attention next to the witch Jasper had just been greeting. “Dorian Humbert,” he said politely, shifting his beer bottle to his left hand and offering his right to the younger woman. She looked familiar but Dorian didn’t know her and assumed she was just a familiar face from hospital; between his work bringing him there and some of his friends being healers, Dorian recognized several mystery faces without having any names to match.

The familiar face belonged to a brunette guy much taller than she, and Dora stared at him for a moment with a pretty smile and vacant eyes. A full two seconds passed before she realized he had greeted her and Dora blinked, speaking slowly. “I know you?” Her inflection suggested it was a question, but her head struggled to make it a statement. He looked oddly familiar, but she didn’t know why and couldn’t come up with a name. Most likely she had seen a picture of him in the Daily Prophet at some point, or maybe even a magazine though she did not often read magazines that discussed sports more than fashion. Leaning forward, Dora gave the man a hug that lasted a little too long. She was stroking the material of his shirt, which felt divine, and gave a happy little hum before pulling away. “Hi.”

Diving into the pool, the water was much cooler than he had been expecting. It was a sunny day but the sun was deceiving and it was still only spring, he should have known better, but his body adjusted to the temperature soon enough as he floated in the pool on his back. He opened his eyes, head still lying in the water with his hair flowing around him like an angel’s halo, and looked to see Echo was still bone dry and out of the water. “Aren’t you coming in?” he asked, patting the top of the water as if it were a seat he was offering her.

He gave Frey a wink and poured the bourbon he was holding, checking out Freya for a second longer and then focusing on his drink again so he could finish it off before spending some time with his future wife.
